amitkvigneswari: lpia doesn't need cross-compiling08:58
amitkit is in essence an x86 arch08:58
vigneswariamitk, but i couldnt compile that in i386..it shows some architecture issue09:00
vigneswariamitk, debian/ruleset/misc/checks.mk:36: *** Error. I do not know where the kernel image goes to [kimagedest undefined] The usual case for this is that I could not determine which arch or subarch this machine belongs to. Please specify a subarch, and try again..  Stop.09:00
vigneswariamitk, this is the error09:00
amitklpia is dead for the next cycle. What are you trying to do?09:01
vigneswariamitk, i am trying to install latest kernel to my old version09:07
amitkkarmic?09:11
amitkvigneswari: you can compile it in the karmic chroot.09:13
vigneswariamitk, when compiling only i am getting this error..but not in karmic..09:16
vigneswariamitk, i have hardy in my system09:16
vigneswariin that i tried09:16
amitkaah, hardy09:17
amitkyou still have to create a hardy lpia chroot (see debootstrap) and compile the kernel inside it.09:18
vigneswariamitk, i created chroot environment and tried there only09:19
vigneswarimake-kpkg --arch i386 --subarch lpia --cross-compile i686-linux-gnulp --initrd  kernel_image kernel_headers09:20
vigneswariand i used this command09:20
amitkvigneswari: we don't support the make-kpkg command09:20
amitktry 'fakeroot debian/rules binary-lpia'09:20
vigneswariamitk, ok09:22
vigneswariamitk, again the same error09:22
amitkwhat does dpkg-architecture return?09:26
vigneswariDEB_BUILD_ARCH=lpia DEB_BUILD_ARCH_OS=linux DEB_BUILD_ARCH_CPU=i686 DEB_BUILD_GNU_CPU=i686 DEB_BUILD_GNU_SYSTEM=linux-gnulp DEB_BUILD_GNU_TYPE=i686-linux-gnulp DEB_HOST_ARCH=lpia DEB_HOST_ARCH_OS=linux DEB_HOST_ARCH_CPU=i686 DEB_HOST_GNU_CPU=i686 DEB_HOST_GNU_SYSTEM=linux-gnulp DEB_HOST_GNU_TYPE=i686-linux-gnulp09:27
vigneswariamitk, 09:28
amitkso you are trying to compile a karmic kernel in a hardy chroot?09:32
vigneswariamitk, kernel i have taken from kernel.org...its not a ubuntu source09:55
amitkvigneswari: in that case, where did you get the debian/ dir from?09:59
vigneswariamitk, its created by itself10:00
vigneswariamitk, it was not there when i extracted that...but when i run make-kpkg it was created but compilation ffailed10:00
amitkvigneswari: get rid of the dir. and build the kernel the regular way using make menuconfig; make10:01
vigneswariamitk, how i ll get debs10:02
amitkvigneswari: if you want .debs, use the ubuntu mainline kernel builds (https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelTeam/MainlineBuilds?action=show&redirect=KernelMainlineBuilds)10:04
amitkwe won't support make-kpkg10:04

HbbHi, I can't install ubuntu-9.10-netbook-remix-i386.iso on a Eee PC 1005HA. It boots from USB.  The Disk Integrity Check on the machine is good. I can choose install, the USB Stick leds flackers about 10 seconds and then constantly burns. 12:45
HbbAfter 5 minutes the screen is still black without any signs. Working in Live-Mode has same result.12:46
HbbUSB stick was made bootable with usb-creator.exe from the downloaded ISO. What shall I try next?12:47
HbbWas something said to my netbook issue?13:32
persiaHbb: Not that I noticed.13:44

Hbbpersia: Success with "If you just get a black screen when booting from USB, using the setting "Discarded on shutdown, unless you save them elsewhere" in usb-creator might help. http://forum.eeeuser.com/viewtopic.php?pid=658619 "14:00
