[02:16] Hey, I'm grabbing channels for my MythTV setup. I have setup the rest of myth tv, but when I grab channels, It says there are 13 free to air channels, but the shepherd guide data-MythTV channel table shows nothing. Any ideas? [02:20] you need to setup shep after you have grabbed all your channels [02:20] But I can't grab the channels using MythTV's inbuilt grabbers, I'm in Aus, So none of our grabbers show up. [02:21] Until I setup shep [02:21] yep, I'm in AUS too... what I do is setup channels in myth setup then exit out and manually do a shep config [02:22] shep will read your mythtv settings [02:22] So how do I setup the channels in Mythtv? [02:22] and setup other stuff like the sym link etc [02:22] I don't have a digital tuner... [02:23] So I can't really scan... [02:23] do you have an analog tuner? [02:23] Yeah [02:23] I've only got a digital tuner, so I'm not entirely sure [02:24] Oh [02:24] your tuner shows up in mythtv setup? [02:24] Yep [02:25] hmm, and scan doesn't work? like I said I've never setup analog on my box [02:27] Nope, When you go to channel editor, the Channelm Scan button isn't shaded, and I can't press it... [02:31] when I ran mythfilldatabase, it said no channels were configured to use the grabber :-/ [02:33] hmm, yeah.. I'm not sure what the process with analog is? does anyone else have any thoughts? [02:49] Might it just be that this card could be unsupported? [02:49] I haven't seen any Swann tuners on the lists... [02:50] any particular reason for analog over digital? [02:55] No, It's just a card that I had around. [02:57] fair nuff.. well I would suggest a digital card in AUS, now that we are starting to get more dedicated digital channels [02:57] Yeah. Where'd you get your card from, online or at a retail store? [02:58] I have a nova t 500 that works well, I ordered it online [02:58] don't even remember where.. just went for the best price oem [02:58] Ah, Cool [02:59] there is a bit of lag between changing channels.. but I think that might have something to do with my cpu/ram [02:59] That makes sense [02:59] it doesn't really matter cos 95% of my watching is recorded tv anyway [02:59] You should have System monitor open when you change channels, see if it peaks [02:59] Ah [03:00] good idea, I will try that out [03:00] :-) === Guest76479 is now known as bogus- === Thermoelectric is now known as Thermo|Sleep === Shadow__2 is now known as Shadow__X [16:38] kees, you around? === croppa_ is now known as croppa === Thermo|Sleep is now known as Thermoelectric === Thermoelectric is now known as Thermo|AFK [22:50] Hello. I installed mythbuntu 9.10 ~ 3 days ago and have been quite pleased though I have a few questions, with which I will preface with a few comments. [22:51] After installing I changed the /dev/dvd to /dev/sr0 in the mythbuntu settings which made my DVDs play with the internal player and i am pleased but now i'm faced with a ripping problem [22:52] Under Setup/utilities ->Setup -> media settings -> video settings -> general settings, there was nothing in the "Direcotries that hold videos" field. I populated that filed with /var/lib/mythtv/videos and I was able to rip. [22:54] but i can replay the dvds that i rip. I have ripped in .iso and also in "perfect"/.vob but I cannot play them back because I cannot find them. [22:55] I looked under "media library -> Watch videos" section but nothing is there. Some direction would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! [23:00] !iso | K-train [23:00] K-train: Storage Groups are a streaming method of transmitting material to a frontend, meaning they don't provide block-level access to the file in question. An ISO is a disk image, and requires block-level access. Upstream has a plan to simulate a block device across the network using NBD for 0.23. Until then you can use the following workaround: http://www.baablogic.net/drupal/node/7 [23:00] K-train: Not sure if that is it or not... but worth a look. [23:01] i will definately take a look at that regarding .iso files... but what about .vob files? [23:02] Well, my gut instinct is that .iso's normally contain .vob, so it might be the same problem... but I honestly am unsure. I need to find time to play with it all to gain a full understanding. [23:03] np. Thanks... is it appreciated to share my success with you guys? [23:03] for those types of problems? [23:04] K-train: it isn't necessary, although it might be nice to know if it applies to vob as well. [23:05] k... i just read the link that was provided by Zinn... i have mine setup like it suggests... how am I supposed to go about access the .iso files from within mythbuntu? I have tried the "media library -> Watch video" but they do not show hup. [23:05] *up [23:06] K-train did you scan of them? [23:06] for* [23:07] uhh... no. I hate to ask.. but where is that option? [23:07] I though I went through all the settings.. [23:07] is it a front or backend thing? [23:07] When you go into where you view the movies, hit m and choose scan.. [23:09] Also make sure the video folder is readable by the user that is running mythtv. [23:12] nice! thanks. let me try it. [23:13] The scan worked great. [23:13] cool [23:14] is "m" a menu option in most of the setting 'pages'? [23:14] yes, I also. [23:15] k... i will try that also. U guys have been great help. [23:16] Read the info on this site......http://www.mythtv.org/wiki/MythVideo_.22_Transition_Guide [23:16] I will do that. thanks. [23:16] That will give a better idea whats going on... [23:16] np [23:25] When a video/dvd is ripped. do you need to put in the information yourself? the 3 i ripped don't have anything for the time duration, description, etc? [23:30] if you named it correctly, hit w and it will download the Meta data.. [23:31] You should follow the transition guide it explains it all.. [23:38] not enough drilling. that's what's the problem with the lesbos at #ubuntu-women [23:44] i will. thanks again.
