[01:40] Greetings! When I try to install Karmic on a new Thinkpad SL510, I get a blank screen after selecting "Install Ubuntu" after reboot with the Desktop Install CD in the tray. Ctrl-alt-delete still reboots, but ctrl-alt-f1 doesn't get me to the tty1 login prompt. Can someone suggest what to do next, please? [01:41] Same blank screen when I "Try ubuntu w/o modifying computer", and when I install via Wubi then reboot into UBuntu. [05:25] could somebody walk me through the install without external peripherals? [05:25] i've got the stuff downloaded to my c: drive [05:25] used unetbootin [05:26] tried to boot to c: but can't get it to do it [05:26] oh wait [05:26] ok [05:26] what i did was [05:26] i went the traditional route, downloaded and burned a cd [05:27] but it would halfway install, then hang [05:27] so i tried burning the cd slower, same problem [05:27] now when i boot up i get the dual-boot window with win2K and ubuntu options [05:28] i.e., it won't send me to c: drive even though i've selected that as my first boot drive [05:28] is there a way to uninstall that half-installed ubuntu? [09:13] cjwatson: are there meant to be some alternate iso's? [10:18] davmor2: I assume they failed to build [10:40] Can I add a line for my DVD drive to the grub.conf? If I can what do I call the drive? [16:23] 2 - that makes sense. just thought it needed pointing out [16:24] want me to do it without the preseed and see if they show up? (not sure why that would matter, but it is easy enough) [16:35] I don't think it should matter, just give me a bug with the log and preseed file I guess [16:38] will do [16:40] Another one that I bet isn't expected: "Various snmp software needs extracted MIBs from RVCs and IANA..." http://dev.personnelware.com/carl/a/conf_libsnmp-base1.png [16:41] bug in the individual package asking the question, rather than in the installer as such [17:22] ubiquity: cjwatson * r3607 ubiquity/ (4 files in 3 dirs): [17:22] ubiquity: * Fix KDE frontend translation issues (LP: #478006): [17:22] ubiquity: - Retranslate install_process_label when the language changes.
