mrmcq2uwill xsplash be removed completely for plymouth?12:02
mrmcq2uhttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vbgLapRAloQ&feature=fvhr :D12:05
coz_mrmcq2u,  I have no idea really12:19
mrmcq2uwouldnt make sense to me to have xsplash with plymouth12:19
coz_mrmcq2u,  I am not up on plymouth12:20
mrmcq2uHopefully once input configuration is decentralized from x things can start migrating over to wayland12:20
coz_mrmcq2u,  wayland is a different fruit altogether12:21
coz_:)12:21
coz_mrmcq2u,  compiz would have to be rewritten12:21
mrmcq2uI thought compiz was already being rewritten12:22
mrmcq2uand mutter will support wayland12:22
coz_mrmcq2u,  it is being ported to C++12:22
thorwilwayland? but surely not susan wayland?12:22
mrmcq2ulol12:22
coz_wayland is not going to implimented any time soon I dont believe12:23
thorwilwould latex support for wayland make any sense?12:23
mrmcq2ucoz_ I would have said that some time ago but allot of what was holding it back has been rectified12:23
mrmcq2ux does not do very much these days that is not duplicated from other elements12:24
coz_mrmcq2u,  possiblly  I just dont the all of the specifics and how that is going to effect everything we have come to love ;)12:24
mrmcq2uwell you can run x within wayland12:25
coz_being an "old phart"  as I am... I hate new things lol12:25
mrmcq2uyou can have it serve multiple x servers or just host an x app within wayland itself12:26
mrmcq2ucoz_ you should check out the latest talk on it - http://video.linuxfoundation.org/video/157112:26
mrmcq2uhe is very very nervous when giving the talk though :D12:26
coz_mrmcq2u,  sounds like he is struggling with english12:27
mrmcq2uit offers loads of great things, it allows animations to run at the full refresh rate supported by the monitor while x scales down to 30fps.12:29
coz_mrmcq2u,  I am interested but  I dont how long it is going to be before actual implimentation...I know of one fellow that tried installing what is available right now on ubuntu and gentoo with no  good results12:30
* mrmcq2u wonders whether intel hired him to work on it full time, he was previously working on it on his own time with red hat.12:30
coz_mrmcq2u,  maybe because has more money perhaps?12:31
coz_intel has more money12:31
coz_and intel is very involved in linux12:31
coz_actually most new stuff from intell is sent to certain projects for testing one being ubuntu before it is released12:32
mrmcq2uwell my theory is he is working on it full time, that would explain why the mutter guys are pushing for it to support wayland(clutter being an intel technology now)12:32
* mrmcq2u likes intel, too bad larrabee is postponed :( would have been great for linux :D12:33
mrmcq2uati are also cool,I don't buy from nvidia anymore due to them not really supporting oss properly. Its annoying having new technologies held back due to binary blobs :(12:34
coz_mrmcq2u,  I never use ati   even though the driver is opensource ... I prefere nvidia hardware ...it is remarkable,, but the drivers are always still not refelcting the chips capabilites12:35
mrmcq2uI switched to ati some time ago, the oss drivers are getting very good.. though its taken a while for them to get up to par on ubuntu.. I noticed that they seem to be better on fedora but I was told that its due to fedora not working upstream fast enough with display divers.. not sure the validity of that opinion is correct though.12:38
coz_mrmcq2u,  well fedora is not surprising since it is more willing to deal with new experimental t hings than most other distributions12:39
coz_especially with video12:39
mrmcq2ukms and dri2 was enabled on fedora for example with my ati card two releases ago(and thats just when I checked, could have been enabled longer) yet ubuntu still doesnt enable them.12:39
coz_mrmcq2u,  right because fedora is more "experimental" than ubuntu is12:40
coz_or rather more willing to experiement12:40
mrmcq2uyeah :D I suppose it was just slightly annoying because I wanted to learn clutter without switching my compositor off :(12:41
mrmcq2uI assume it will be enabled this time though, they need kms for plymouth so that is a sign, hope dri2 gets switched on too though.12:42
coz_mrmcq2u,  you can always check in #ubuntu+112:43
coz_see what they might be doing12:43
mrmcq2uyeah12:44
mac_vmrmcq2u: usplash will be replaced by plymouth , so it will be plymouth+xsplash13:13
mrmcq2uwhats the point in xsplash?13:25
mrmcq2uplymouth offers the same extendability in terms of theme design, seems like un-needed overhead to me13:26
darkmattercoz_: http://www.flickr.com/photos/92826085@N00/4184312119/sizes/o/15:01
coz_darkmatter,  oo nice15:02
coz_darkmatter,  is that a new version of wideget factory?15:02
darkmattercoz_: old version.15:02
coz_darkmatter,  is it also an editor?15:02
darkmatterthe new thing there is murrine from git :D15:03
darkmattercoz_: nope. just a viewer, but it makes editing easier. though i want to give that glade powered thing a try. the one that loads changes on the fly15:04
darkmattercoz_: my sonar tweaks are getting there. damn scrollbars still look weird though15:04
coz_cool  I know you will get it right :)15:05
darkmatteryeah. just need to get used to the new highlighting and stuff15:06
darkmatterbut the buttons and entries are pretty much spot on15:06
EquietWhy is everything nicely rounded, but progress bars and that list on right side aren't?15:07
darkmatterbecause its a WIP? :P15:08
EquietWhat's WIP?15:08
darkmatterwork in progress15:09
darkmatterin other words 'its not done yet" ;)15:09
EquietAh. Ok, then. Nice theme.15:10
darkmatterEquiet: thanks. I'm just working on tweaking Sonar (openSUSE's  theme) to make it a bit lighter/lively (since the default is pretty much FLAT xD)15:11
darkmattercoz_: did you notice the new gtk expander in that screenie? :D15:12
coz_darkmatter,  not sure ....where is it?15:12
darkmattercoz_: below the check/radio. I could kiss cimi for coding that :P15:13
coz_oh yeah ...what is that for/15:13
darkmatterno more ugly arrows. now its +/-15:13
coz_cool15:13
darkmattercoz_: treeview, pidgins buddylist, etc etc.15:14
darkmatterbrb. restarting pidgin15:14

ubottusnubby: Hi! Welcome to #ubuntu-artwork! Channel for the community artwork team. Feel free to ask questions . Enjoy your stay16:53
* snubby bows16:53
mac_vdarkmatter: whats with the green shade ... it works well on the window title but not so much in the progress bars , gives me a sickly feel :(16:55
darkmattermac_v: I haven't touched the colors that much. just the gradients and crap16:58
darkmatterjust finished tweaking the scrollbars. I have an idea for menus/progress et al, but may or may not work. it should make that green look quite lovely17:01
darkmattermac_v: basically it's all still 'sonar' as far as the colors go. I'll be modifying those soon enough17:07
mac_vdarkmatter: nice  , the progressbar is the only sore shade there ;)17:08
darkmattermac_v: I was going to steal the gradient shades from firefox ;o17:11
darkmatterbecause the effect in the addons window is just lovely *rips* xD17:13
darkmatterbut first. rebuilding gdm. stupid save screenspace patch. I want my clock damnit!17:14
mac_vlol17:14
kwwiibtw, the new murrine engine is available for those who want to play with it17:25
kwwiipackaged, I mean17:25
EquietWhat means "Gtk2 engine"?17:26
darkmatterkwwii: I just package that myself earlier :P17:26
darkmatterkinda had too. since your ppa wont run on openSUSE ;D17:27
darkmatterbrb. restarting x17:27
kwwiilol17:28
kwwiiEquiet: it is the code behind the theme17:28
kwwiiEquiet: gtk theme, I mean17:28
kwwiihttps://launchpad.net/~ken-vandine/+archive/gnome is the link to the ppa with the murrine engine17:29
EquietSo it's that gtkrc file?17:30
darkmattersweet. gdm has a clock now. now change the system hinting and hack the theme to bold-face the clock in gdm17:31
kwwiiEquiet: the gtkrc file is the definition of how to use the engine17:31
* thorwil moves humancity to lucid17:33
thorwilthe name is sooo great17:35
coz_anyone have access to other throbber images for xsplash?  I am lazy to day and dont want to create any :)17:35
mac_vcoz_: gnome-look has a bunch of stuff [other than malware of-course ;p]17:53
mac_vxsplash stuff*17:53
coz_mac_v,  oh ok   ... I know how to make the darn things but they take too long :)17:54
zniavregood evening19:03
zniavrehttps://launchpad.net/~ken-vandine is here ?19:03
darkmatterhttp://img691.imageshack.us/img691/4954/screenshotijw.png scrollies are almost done methinks19:04
zniavrehow did you managed to disable rgba stuff for apps does not support it ?19:05
mrmcq2uif you ask me the apps should be patched to support it at this stage19:29
mrmcq2uits nearly been two years since cimi first introduced it19:30
zniavrea ok19:31
mrmcq2uany chance someone using the client side window patch can debug the banshee failure and post it on pastebin for me?19:57
