faLUCE | hi. I'm noting that every time I launch a video application (for example: playing a movie) I have a high CPU comsumption (about 50% per application) . I suspect that this problem has something to do with the hardware acceleration... do you have any suggestion for that? | 11:03 |
_Pete_ | what kind of video / cpu? | 11:05 |
faLUCE | _Pete_: about the cpu: the same cpu on another machine doesn't have problems. about the video: how can I check it? | 11:07 |
Carnophage | hi all | 11:14 |

riboflavin | is there any way to get xfapplet in the panel to work with the vanilla gnome main menu (NOT the new main-menu, like the package)? Although that menu is an option to add to the gnome-panel, if I start it, it isn't an option in xfapplet, and I haven't been able to find out why or how I can make it one. Anybody know? | 14:07 |

faLUCE | hi. I'm noting that every time I launch a video application (for example: playing a movie) I have a high CPU comsumption (about 50% per application) . I suspect that this problem has something to do with the hardware acceleration... do you have any suggestion for that? | 16:01 |
likemindead | What's your hardware, faLUCE? | 16:04 |
faLUCE | likemindead: VGA compatible controller: Intel Corporation Mobile 945GME Express Integrated Graphics Controller (rev 03) | 16:08 |
likemindead | Yeah... Intel graphics are still wonky at the moment. :-\ | 16:08 |
faLUCE | likemindead: and there's not a solution? | 16:08 |
likemindead | Not for 9.10 yet. | 16:09 |
faLUCE | likemindead: what you say is too much strange | 16:10 |
likemindead | Uh... m'kay. | 16:10 |
faLUCE | likemindead: whith a VGA Intel GMA950 I don't have any problem | 16:11 |
likemindead | I'd fall back to 8.04 which is the Long Term Support release. Much more stable. | 16:11 |
faLUCE | likemindead: don't answer if you don't know the answer | 16:11 |
faLUCE | otherwise, you can confuse ubuntu users | 16:11 |
likemindead | Uh... you're welcome. :-\ | 16:11 |
Balsaq | what is the sudo command to change password? | 16:21 |
likemindead | passwd | 16:24 |
likemindead | Use sudo if you're changing it for another user | 16:24 |
likemindead | "passwd your_username" or "sudo passwd username_of_others" | 16:24 |
Balsaq | its for me, the one i use when i 1st turn on the computer | 16:25 |

Balsaq | i tried sudo passwd and it seemed to take it, but it idnt change my password | 16:25 |
likemindead | You included your username? (i.e. "passwd Balsaq new_password_here" ? | 16:28 |
Balsaq | no i didnt not in sudo, i just put in sudo passwd and went from there...i haven't tried it any other way | 16:28 |
likemindead | You have to tell it what user. | 16:28 |
likemindead | Even if you're the only one... | 16:29 |
Balsaq | ok so i go into sudo and type....sudo passwd Blasaq_password_here | 16:29 |
likemindead | No. | 16:29 |
likemindead | Just "passwd Balsaq <New_Password>" | 16:30 |
Balsaq | ok so i dump the word sudo | 16:30 |
likemindead | Shouldn't need it if it's for you & not another user. | 16:31 |
Balsaq | i am the only user | 16:31 |
Balsaq | but when i was in there, i did type sudo passwd, and it did say type new unic password | 16:32 |
Balsaq | unix* | 16:32 |
Balsaq | so i thought i was on the right track | 16:32 |
Balsaq | but when i wrestarted it hadnt changed | 16:32 |
Balsaq | so i must of only changed my root password | 16:32 |

Balsaq | well igo back downstairs and try to fix it, thanks likeminded | 16:35 |
