[01:13] hi everyone, i'd like you to take a look at my new project that i'm looking for help with: https://edge.launchpad.net/~ubuntu-manual [01:13] We need contributors, artwork, translators [01:39] how is this different then ubuntu-docs? [01:42] that is why should i contribute to this instead of ubuntu-docs? [01:46] It's going to be a community-written guide that has all the information you need in one easily accessible pdf file, and instead of wiki pages it will be written in the style of a book with contents, screenshots, step by step instructions etc [01:46] check out what I've done so far: https://edge.launchpad.net/ubuntu-manual [01:46] and you shouldn't contribute INSTEAD of ubuntu docs, but alongside. I'm hoping the two will work well together, the manual for first reference, the wiki documentation for more detailed answers [01:47] so just like The Official Ubuntu Book then? [01:48] i'm not trying to be difficult just trying to figure out what seems like a duplication of efforts [01:48] btw The Official Ubuntu Book is licensed under a CC=SA license if i remember correctly [01:48] sort of, but the official ubuntu book is more detailed than this. I have actually ran it past Jono Bacon and he is all for it [01:49] this will only be 50 or so pages, but I am also very keen to cut it down to about 10 pages for a "Quick Start" guide as a separate release. [01:49] Oh and another thing, this gets updated every 6 months to coincide with each new release [01:49] instead of being a one-off like most other books [01:51] is the source just the pdf? or how are you dealing w/ merges etc? [01:52] no no [01:52] the source is .odt and also some images at the moment [01:53] there is a bzr branch [01:53] I'm fairly new to merges and bzr, I would like someone who knows more about Launchpad projects to come on board as another Administrator to help run the project. [01:54] ok jst ttryingto understand the project [01:55] cool no worries [02:00] So do you think you'll be able to contribute? [02:01] don't know [02:01] will have to thnk aout it [02:05] righto [02:10] please do :) === astechgeek is now known as techgeek [02:45] I've just updated the wiki, might give you some more information: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/ubuntu-manual [05:45] hey nigel_nb === philip- is now known as philip_ === jgoguen is now known as jgoguen|work === mac_v is now known as _vish === _vish is now known as \vish
