alex_mayorgaHi, is this card know to (not) work on ubuntu http://www.nvidia.com/object/product_geforce_gt_230m_us.html ?00:08
Sarvattit will be supported in lucid in a few days when the nvidia binary driver is updated, 190.42 was the first release that supported it apparently and either that or 190.53 is whats getting put in00:26
alex_mayorgaSarvatt: thanks, is there a way I can have Ubuntu in the meantime?00:29
Sarvattwhat ubuntu release are you using?00:34
Sarvattyou can add this PPA to get the newer drivers, you want to install nvidia-190-kernel-source and it should pull in all of the rest that you need https://edge.launchpad.net/~nvidia-vdpau/+archive/ppa00:35
Sarvatt195 works *really* good though, you might want to try those instead of 19000:36
alex_mayorgais there a 195 ppa?00:41
Sarvattyeah 185 190 and 195 are all in that PPA00:42
alex_mayorgahow do I boot on safe grapics00:43
alex_mayorgaI'm trying a lucid daily build here00:43

rippsOkay, the guys on #ubuntu-1 aren't talking, does anybody here know how to possibly fix the problem I'm having with my wacom graphire3 in Lucid? Whenever I click, the mouse stops working when I hover over the tablet, I have to move the pen a good distance away from the tablet before it starts working again.03:58
rippsIt seems that wacom-tools and xserver-xorg-input-wacom won't install because it confilcts with xserver-xorg-core04:00
tjaaltonripps: wait for the wacom driver to appear04:21
rippstjaalton: is that being worked on?04:22
tjaaltonripps: kind of04:22
tjaaltonie. not by us, but the debian maintainer04:23
rippstjaalton: because I have a bit of carpal tunnel, and using a normal mouse for long periods of time really starts to hurt. I've found that using a wacom tablet is alot easier on my wrist04:24
tjaaltonripps: I emailed him and asked how things are progressing04:29
bjsniderSarvatt, there's a new mplayer in the ppa for you to test04:41
bjsniderand also an nvidia-settings with that patch04:44

SarvattDuke`: seems to be fixed, 30 hours now on this latest one18:10
Duke`lucky, I got it 3 or 4 times today :(18:11
Sarvattreverted http://cgit.freedesktop.org/mesa/drm/commit/?id=b73612e4fd69565aa2c5c2e9677f3e0af1945f7d and http://cgit.freedesktop.org/mesa/drm/commit/?id=792fed1e2460f96459141b5a628dd5ab4fbb87db from this one thats stable18:12
Duke`could you do some .debs packages? I would test them :D18:25
Sarvattsure i'll put it here https://edge.launchpad.net/~sarvatt/+archive/bugs18:28
Duke`ok18:29
Duke`I'm on x86_6418:29
Sarvattyeah i'm 32 bit or i'd just send the deb18:29
jcristauSarvatt: so 2.4.16 and 2.4.17 are busted for intel?18:30
Sarvattyeah for Duke` and me and a few other people on 945 at least, people on 965 seem to be ok18:31
jcristaugood to know..18:32
jcristaudo you have upstream bug #s?18:32
Sarvatthttp://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=25475 thats the nasty one we're getting18:32
jcristauokay18:32

ubottuFreedesktop bug 25475 in Driver/intel "[i915] Xorg crash / Execbuf while wedged" [Critical,New]18:32
* jcristau added self to cc18:35
SarvattDuke` i didnt bother packaging it right but its up, figure you just want something working and i've gotta run out the door :)18:46
Duke`ok installed, let's see if it works19:27
Duke`Sarvatt, how can you know those commits are the problem, have you bisected until the end yet?19:36
Sarvattbisecting didnt work, most all of the commits are broken until the very last few19:40
Duke`ok19:41
Sarvattso i started reverting things that looked related from 2.4.16 down19:41
Sarvattjust the later of the two didn't work, but both are working, next i'll try just the execbuff one if this ever crashes19:41
Sarvatterr if it doesnt crash for a few more days I mean :)19:41
Duke`:)19:42
Duke`apt is crying that a newer libdrm-radeon1 is needed for mesa... should I use the latest or keep your version? I'm not using radeon at all...19:46
Sarvattyeah mesa really does require libdrm-radeon1 2.4.17 now19:53
Sarvatti'm using stock lucid userspace and just updating libdrm to try to narrow it down, will see if those two commits revert cleanly from 2.4.17 later on19:54
Sarvattif you want you can get the libdrm source from edgers, add these two patches to debian/patches/ and add the names to debian/patches/series and rebuild it19:57
Sarvatthttp://sarvatt.com/downloads/patches/0001-Revert-intel-Check-and-propagate-errors-from-buildin.patch19:57
Sarvatthttp://sarvatt.com/downloads/patches/0002-Revert-intel-Repeat-execbuffer-after-EINTR.patch19:57
unggnuhi all21:15
unggnuAny status update on Nouveau?21:15
Sarvattit's not in yet at any rate, but ROAF has been working on packaging it up and it is working great here on xorg-edgers, the kernel people have to decide what to do about it because there are alot of different ways the support could be added and it seems like an external module build like how the current packages work could be simplified by moving it directly into the kernel tree21:36
Sarvatti wouldn't expect it for another month or so at least honestly21:37
dyek_Hi! Can someone let me know the package name for XCB on Ubuntu/Debian? I can then install its source code.22:48
JanCdyek_: http://packages.ubuntu.com/xcb & http://packages.debian.org/xcb23:06
jcristauJanC: i don't think that's what he's looking for23:07
JanCjcristau: well, it shows the package names voor all xcb-related packages?  or is there another XCB that has anything to do with Xorg?  ;)23:08
bjsniderif he wants the source code he doesn't need ubuntu for that23:29
bjsniderunless he meant the deb source23:29
dyek_Didn't paid attention earlier...Hmm... this xcb package is X Cut Buffer utility. I am looking for the xlib-replacement API XCB package.23:32
jcristauwhich has the same name as upstream, so if you want to find it i'm sure you can.23:35
dyek_The XCB package will probably install xcb_atom.h, probably at X11/XCB/xcb_atom.h.23:35
bjsniderthe headers would be in the -dev package23:43
JanCthe URL I gave pointed to 2 packages, one of which provides pointers to libxcb  ;)23:49
bjsnideri assume he wants libxcb23:52
JanCprobably23:53
JanCit's a bit unfortunate that the package search site only looks for packages that start with the search key23:54
bjsniderthe bot can also be pinged though23:56
bjsnider!info libxcb23:56
ubottuPackage libxcb does not exist in karmic23:56
dyek_Hmm...I did install libx11-xcb source code before, but I'm still not finding xcb_atom.h. In fact, XCB is part of libx11-6 itself!23:58
bjsnider!find xcb_atom.h23:59
ubottuFile xcb_atom.h found in libxcb-atom1-dev23:59
