pasjrhow many software sources are up for Ubuntu lucid 10.0400:08
BUGabundopasjr: prob the same as in every other release00:10
BUGabundogive or take a few00:10
BUGabundomy synaptic counts a little over 30k packages00:10
BUGabundobut I have a few PPAs00:11
pasjrI was looking but I not found any, tried some of the ones from 9.10 but they seem to cause conflict00:11
yofelpasjr: hm? define what you understand under 'software sources'00:14
pasjrsystem>Admin>SoftwareSources-othersoftware00:15
pasjrmaybe I have misunderstood something00:16
yofelpasjr: othersoftware are ppa repositories or other external repos00:17
yofelpasjr: if you want to know if a ppa has software for lucid i fear you'll have to check every ppa if it does00:18
BUGabundoyofel: *non* official supported repos00:18
pasjrok and is there a reason when I try the ones from 9.10 in 10.04 I get conflicts one each one00:18
yofelBUGabundo: ok, makes more sense, thx00:18
virtualddo anyone else get cannot allocate memory errors?00:27

BUGabundo_work"Digging deeper, I learned that there are many cron systems available for GNU/Linux. It appears Arch Linux is shipping dcron by default (Dillon’s cron), Red Hat has forked Vixie cron to cronie, and Debian and Ubuntu both utilize or will utilize Upstart, which will eventually replace cron entirely. It’s my understanding that launchd on Mac OS X has also replaced cron (although I haven’t verified)."14:55

schilliI booted lucid in an Eee 1005hab.  I hooked up an external monitor and it recognized it, but when I tried to make the monitors not mirror the desktop and panels went away!  The cursor was still there and moved correctly between the two monitors.17:06

RobschilliI'm playing around with Lucid on my Eee PC, where should I post the results?17:33
BUGabundo_workRobschilli: any prob or just success?17:34
BUGabundo_workusually u could try laptop testing ml17:35
RobschilliWell, I had success plugging an external monitor in, but when I tried to make the non-mirror, I had problems17:36
Robschillithe desktop went away, but the cursor acted fine between the two monitors17:36
yofelthat sounds like a bug17:37
RobschilliI'm back in Karmic now, but I can pull up the logs17:37
yofelRobschilli: you do have a intel GPU?17:38
RobschilliCPU? it is an atom17:39
yofelRobschilli: Gpu, your graphics card ;)17:39

yofelok, the same as me then :)17:41
Robschillidoing what i did works fine in Karma17:42
yofelRobschilli: can you try lucid again, and maybe run 'ubuntu-bug xserver-xorg-video-intel' after reproducing the bug?17:42
RobschilliI can do that from the ttys?  the desktop and all functionality goes away17:43
yofelyou can run it from a tty and save the report to send it later if your mouse is all that keeps working17:43
Robschilliok17:43
Robschillibrb, rebooting.   I'll letya'll know how it went17:46
schilliI'm back, (nick before was robschilli)  I was having problems with multiple monitors on an Eee...18:09
schilliI was supposed to run ubuntu-bug xserver.org-video-intel...   xserver.org-video-intel does not exist...18:11
pasjrHow do I force on fan with 10.04?18:12
pasjrI use a Toshiba Satellite A505D, running Ubuntu lucid18:12
yofelschilli: the package is xserver-xorg-video-intel18:14
schillilooking up the bash history and I typed ubuntu-bug xserver.xorg-video-intel18:15
yofelyep, wrong package name18:16
schillidash not dot...  oops.   can I just edit the bash history so the right name pops up?18:17

pasjrFancontrol issues18:20
schilliI just edited a correctly typed future...   brb18:20
pasjrcan anyone tell me how to set Fan to on, or at least change operating temps?  I have tried to do what I did in 9.04 but can not find that file in 10.0418:23
yofelpasjr: which file?18:25
yofel(note: I have no idea how to control fan speeds by hand)18:25
pasjrcan not remember, it was in ect/init.d/fancontroll.  there was a list of temps you could change.  but 10.04 no list18:26
pasjrmy laptop is running hotter than I like, and need to force on fan18:27
yofelpasjr: do you have 'lm-sensors' installed?18:28
pasjryes,and I am at 52deg C18:28
pasjrthe rest of lm-sensors dose not work on tosh18:29
yofelthats odd, /etc/init.d/fancontrol belongs to the lm-sensors package18:29
pasjrtell me about it, I had that file before I ever installed lm-sensors18:29
yofelhm, so controlling fan speeds worked before with fancontrol and doesn't now?18:30
pasjrthat is correct18:30
pasjra big part of my problem is my tosh it is not very linux friendly, have to do alot of modification to use tools18:31
yofelI think you should file a bug against lm-sensors then and tag it with 'regression-potential'18:31
yofelwell, gotta run for now, bbl18:32
pasjrok me too im out18:32
schilli"ubuntu-bug xserver-xorg-video-intel" returns: cannot report, not a genuine ubuntu package19:06
yofelschilli: do you have the xorg-edgers ppa installed?19:17
schillinot if it was not in there by default19:18
yofelthat doesn't make sense then19:19
yofelit should only give that error on ppa and self installed packages19:19
schilliI did find that with one or the other monitor turned off, they both worked fine at all resolutions19:20
schilliit was only when the monitor was set to 1280:1024 or 1024:786 that things got hairy19:22
