[10:34] atm the drivers are just available in the jaunty repo [10:36] I don't believe there were any karmic drivers for psb, although I could be mistaken. [10:36] I seem to remember something involving issues with the differences in X. [10:36] But perhaps someone more knowledgeable can answer more clearly. [10:37] k [10:38] My (incomplete) understanding is that the PSB drivers included some binary bits that only worked in some cases, so were a bit of a hack, rather than the more usual compiled-from-reviewed-source stuff. [10:39] right, its similar to nvidia iirc [10:40] and the binary bits may or may not be available for the karmic kernel ... i know StevenK could tell [10:41] Was it a kernel issue? I thought it was an issue with the change in the X ABI. [10:41] I just added now the ubuntu X swat unstable repo to test wheather the psb drivers are available there.. [10:42] From what I've heard, people have managed to get PSB working in Karmic, but I don't and won't support that. [10:43] StevenK: its possible to install the drivers from your jaunty repo so you just need, as i heard, to push these drivers to karmic.. [10:43] StevenK: That's a wonderfully-formed answer :) [10:44] persia: hehe [11:01] thopiekar-t91: I also have a lack of time, so ... [11:01] k, [11:01] If it works, great, if doesn't, you get to keep and admire all of the pieces. [11:03] i'll try it now with the xserver+drivers from the x swat unstable ppa.. [11:03] see you soon..
