[01:16] Hi all! I'm trying to get the Blue Snowball mic working with Jaunty. It works fine through ALSA, and when I look at the microphone through the PulseAudio Volume Control, I can see the volume bar moving and it selected as default. But when I change Sound Capture in System->Preferences->Sound to PulseAudio Sound Server, it doesn't work (playback through PulseAudio works fine). Any ideas? (I need to use Pulseaudio because [01:16] I'm mixing multiple sound sources) [02:55] hi is there a way to get a ubuntu studio live cd/dvd [02:58] meowbuntu: they're on the website [02:58] meowbuntu: if you don't want to dowload you have to buy them [03:01] amstan, are you sure theere are live cd/dvd versions of ubuntustudio now [03:01] meowbuntu: oh.. i'm sorry [03:01] i missed the live part [03:02] no, i believe there is only an instealler dvd for ubuntu studio [03:02] no live [03:02] y is that it sux as it should be easy to get one. [05:28] holstein, usually it would say if there was when using apt-get. [05:29] sudo apt-get install gstreamer0.10-plugins-ugly-multiverse [05:29] yeah, the package name has changed [05:29] OR theres another package being used [05:32] liblame0 is not in synaptic [05:33] holstein, read this short post please tell me what you think http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=904935 [05:33] did you try running sudo apt-get install gstreamer0.10-plugins-ugly-multiverse [05:33] in a terminal [05:33] yes i know how to do that [05:34] it worked [05:34] just let me know about the post ^ [05:35] yeah, i bet thats all straitened out by now [05:35] holstein, well how is that then [05:35] did you restart sound juicer? [05:36] there seems to be a lot of working goin on to straighten those packages out [05:36] holstein, thanks it worked [05:37] i think you can just sudo apt-get install ubuntu-restricted-extras, or something like that now [05:37] the process is being tweaked a bit [06:53] is installing restricted extras a good idea [06:55] good question meowbuntu [06:56] well do you know [06:56] where do you live? [06:56] do you care if its legal? [06:56] can you live without mp3's? [06:56] in a house and you [06:57] DUDE [06:57] mp3 are legal. and also installing restricted extras are legal [06:57] in some countries, obtaining the mp3 codecs is legal [06:57] AFAIK [06:58] for the US its not [06:58] or it a grey area [06:58] i live in a house in a street in a suburb in a city in a country in the pasific on a planet called earth [06:58] AFAIK = ????? [06:58] AFAIK= as far as i know [06:59] you can google that too [06:59] well i do not beleve its a grey erea i need mp3 as they are cross platform [06:59] platform is not the issue [06:59] the issue is licensing [07:00] if you can figure out what country you are in, and how to use google... [07:00] you can find out the particular legal issues you might have with mp3's [07:00] and then, you can decide for yourself if installing restricted extras is a good idea [07:00] i am in aotearoa. which is next to austrailia [07:01] well, now you know what to put in google when you decide to search [07:01] NZL all blacks, black caps, team NZ, maori [07:01] search for what exactly [07:02] DUDE [07:02] either is too late for me, or your trolling.. [07:02] is installing restricted extras legal in (country) [07:02] yup [07:03] good luck to you meowbuntu [07:03] i know fluendo has a free mp3 codec [07:03] but, i think your ok over there [07:03] using the restricted extras [07:04] glad you got your sound juiced :) [07:04] nite === olinuxx_ is now known as olinuxx [08:34] hi i have a file in a directory with the name Ubuntu 9.10 i cant cd to it in terminal need help [08:35] meowbuntu: please dont cross post at the same time [08:35] y there are different ppl on each channel [08:35] meowbuntu: and some are on all of them. [09:25] meowbuntu: maybe there is a ubuntu loco team for new zealand who would know? [09:25] meowbuntu: how about trying #ubuntu-nz? [09:25] meowbuntu: seems like a channel for ubuntu new zealand loco team [14:40] how up to date are packages kept in ubuntustudio? [18:13] i just installed packages from ubuntustudio on top of karmic koala. is there a way in upgrade to ged rid off the attempt to install generic kernel instead of rt one.. or better question how to keep up better with ubuntustudio in karmic koala? [18:21] marcell: hmmm, so you've added the linux-rt packages, and now you don't want the system to update the normal kernel when there are updates, just the rt one? [18:21] marcell: I've not tried it, but once you're running from the rt kernel have you tried removing the linux-generic package? [18:22] I wonder if that would do it? [18:22] I guess you could play with the grub config so that it will always boot the rt kernel by default and then if the generic one gets updated then it wont matter anyway as it will still boot into the rt kernel as another approach? [18:24] marcell: also note that if you have more than one cpu core then rt only uses one core, which is one reason to keep the generic kernel there as well so that you have the option of switching to that when appropriate [18:25] marsilainen: thanx... i think i'll just keep it and keep grub with rt as default one [18:25] marcell: yeah, I think that's probably the best solution [18:29] marsilainen: thanx.. any other hint regarding upgrades? [18:29] I'm not sure what you mean? [18:29] ubuntustudio uses the same update management as regular ubuntu [18:29] so it should automatically prompt every now and then when there are new updates to install [18:29] is that what you mean? [18:30] marsilainen: i know that.. i just asked if you know of anything else whici you maybe experienced.. but nvm... thanx [18:30] sorry, can't think of anything obvious [19:32] Hey [19:32] I'm trying to install ubuntustudio from a USB drive and it aborts because I don't have a CD drive [19:32] How can I get around this? === mMezquitale is now known as mezquitale
