faganmorning06:59
kermiacmorning ara07:03
aramorning fagan, kermiac :)07:04
faganara: I tried upgrade testing my newer machine07:06
faganvery weird07:06
faganMy wireless card and graphics card werent made when hardy was out07:07
araand?07:07
faganbut when I upgraded it fixed the driver issues07:07
faganLike they werent working properly at all in hardy07:08
faganxorg is still acting funny07:08
faganother than that it worked perfect07:08
faganIve been testing the applications and nothing seems broken too badly07:09
faganThe only problem with the test was that I did it from a fresh install of hardy07:11
faganI didnt use any of the programs07:11
arafagan, what do you mean about xorg acting funny?07:53
faganIt gave out an error07:55
faganand it says the graphics arent configured07:56
arahave you reported it?07:56
faganThey work fine and xorg seems to be configured properly07:56
faganby they I mean the graphics07:56
arafagan, but it shouldn't error, anyway07:57
arafagan, do you have errors in Xorg.0.log or Xorg.1.log?07:57
faganIll go check the logs and figure it out07:57
faganI have xorg log 0,1,2,3,4,5,9907:58
faganand failsafe07:58
faganIt looks like pixman is the problem07:59
faganah ha "(EE) No devices detected." thats the error I was getting08:01
faganthats not good "sudo Xorg -configure" segfaults08:04
* fagan gos to #ubuntu-x 08:04
* ara takes a coffee break08:39
davmor2morning all08:43
mvoara: thanks for the UpgradeChecklist wiki page! it looks fine to me, I added a entry about the screen resolution, but that was it. the only other thing I can thing of is a) check if your favorite apps are still there (if you installed additional stuff) b) check if your favorite python modules are still working - but I guess (b) is a bit too specail08:50
aramvo, thanks for reviewing it :)09:08
* fagan = awesome upgrade tester I got 4 bugs o/09:09
arafagan, did you tag them?09:10
faganmvo: tag them with what?09:10
mvomy please ara, thanks for creating it09:10
* fagan likes the tag shanes-awesome-upgrade-testing09:11
arafagan, I just sent an email to ubuntu-qa09:11
arafagan, hardy2lucid or karmic2lucid tags, please09:12
fagancool09:12
* fagan retags the bugs09:12
faganSo out of the whole upgrade testing I got 6 bugs, 2 werent relivent with lucid, 4 were already known and 2 were good09:15
davmor2ara: just mailed the list but how about a smokeupgrading page similar to the smoketesting page that you can then point mvo at for upgrade passes fails and bugs?09:22
arathanks davmor209:23
aracan any one remember the LP URL to retrieve results submitted from checkbox09:24
ara?09:24
faganNope09:27
davmor2ara: give me a second09:33
aradavmor2, I already have it thanks09:33
faganara: where is it?09:34
arahttps://blueprints.launchpad.net/~<login>/+hwdb-submissions09:34
* fagan is interested 09:34
arahttps://www.launchpad.net/~<login>/+hwdb-submissions09:34
ara(the blueprints part is not relevant)09:34
davmor2I always forget the +09:37
=== gnarl is now known as smb
faganSo who wants to do some testing on my machine12:34
faganno test too big or too small12:35
arafagan, I think this is not the right channel for that kind of propositions12:42
faganara: Wny?12:43
fagan*Why12:43
faganIll just run the checkbox qa regression suite12:48
* fagan wants to break an install today 12:49
arafagan, btw, I have only seen one bug tagged as hardy2lucid12:49
arafagan, the rest?12:49
faganara: 2 others were dups12:50
faganand the rest were in hardy :)12:50
faganSo it turned out that there was 112:50
arafagan, but you can tag the original bugs12:50
araof your two duplicates12:51
faganOh ok then12:51
arathose dups, are because of the upgrade?12:51
faganI thought I did for one of the other ones12:51
faganIll go tag them12:51
arafagan, thanks12:51
faganthere ara 3 bugs should have the tag now12:55
arafagan, great, thanks12:55
faganIts still only showing 2 https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bugs?field.searchtext=&orderby=-importance&assignee_option=any&field.assignee=&field.bug_reporter=&field.bug_supervisor=&field.bug_commenter=&field.subscriber=&field.status_upstream-empty-marker=1&field.omit_dupes.used=&field.has_patch.used=&field.has_cve.used=&field.tag=hardy2lucid&field.tags_combinator=ANY&search=Search12:57
faganDamn advanced search and its long urls12:57
* fagan contemplates making a launchpad bug about it12:58
czajkowskior just shortening it before pasting in here12:58
faganczajkowski: that takes a certain ammount of effort12:59
faganAh I know the search is still taking away some bugs13:02
faganara: http://short.ie/zt38uh13:03
* fagan doesnt know why the link is broken now13:05
fagan:D13:05
faganAh anyway you'lll have to take my word for it there are 3 but the search removes invaild and dups so thats why they arent there at the moment13:06
arafagan, ok, invalids need to removed, but as for the dups, have you tagged the duplicated one or the original one?13:07
faganara: I asked pitti and he did it13:08
faganIt was a hal bug so I asked13:08
araok, let's put it this way, can you put here the numbers of the bugs you entered today :D13:09
araplease :D13:09
=== fader|away is now known as fader_
faganOk13:09
* fagan has a list now 13:09
faganBug #509524 Bug #509518 Bug #50951913:11
ubot4Launchpad bug 509524 in hal "hald-probe-input crashed with SIGSEGV in posix_memalign() (dup-of: 500723)" [Medium,New] https://launchpad.net/bugs/50952413:11
ubot4Launchpad bug 500723 in hal "hald-probe-input assert failure: *** glibc detected *** /usr/lib/hal/hald-probe-input: munmap_chunk(): invalid pointer: 0x080492f9 ***" [High,In progress] https://launchpad.net/bugs/50072313:11
ubot4Launchpad bug 509518 in software-center "software-center crashed with DatabaseOpeningError in __init__()" [Undecided,New] https://launchpad.net/bugs/50951813:11
ubot4Launchpad bug 509519 in xorg-server "Xorg crashed with SIGSEGV in FatalError()" [Undecided,Invalid] https://launchpad.net/bugs/50951913:11
arafagan, thanks13:11
faganThe software center bug and the hal bug were because of the upgrade the xorg thing was a bug with lucid anyway13:14
faganand its fixed now with the upload today13:14
* fagan checked on them all13:15
faganThe software center bug was just it not refreshing the database after it was installed13:15
faganSo "sudo software-center" fixes it13:16
faganThe hal was known and was a problem with karmic2lucid13:16
faganfader_: what regression tests need doing?13:25
fader_fagan: Good question :)  I could take a guess but I'd say sbeattie is probably better able to answer that.13:31
fader_My answer is always going to be to start with checkbox, but that might be because if you have a hammer everything looks like a nail.13:32
faganVery true13:33
faganActually checkbox from bzr lp:checkbox is having issues13:34
faganczajkowski: is skynet acting up?13:39
* ara -> lunch13:41

fader_davmor2: When there's a national holiday in the US I grab it as quickly as I can... it's not like the UK where you folks only actually end up working for 30-40 days per year :)15:39
davmor2fader_: I wish15:39
araand they lower to 20ish in Spain :P15:41
cr3ara: you're just saying that to make us canadians feel jealous :)15:42
fader_cr3: At least you and I have good weather, unlike Spain15:42
fader_Er, wait, hang on :(15:42
davmor2fader_: Ha Ha!15:46
fader_davmor2: Hey, I know your weather generally isn't *much* better than it is in this corner of North America.  (Although right now Boston is getting buried in some chunky wet snow.)15:47
davmor2Lovely and sunny here dude you really don't know what your missing with our entire 7C15:48
fader_That's only 7-8C higher than here :)15:49
