kermiacyofel: re bug 306166 - looks like the OP had the issue in 8.10 & now they don't in 9.0400:56
ubot4Launchpad bug 306166 in network-manager-applet "nm-applet get incorrect netmask from DHCPD [openvpn]" [Undecided,Confirmed] https://launchpad.net/bugs/30616600:56
cjohnstonanyone know is FF3.6 is planned for lucid?01:24
WeatherGodwhich room do I go to to discuss a possible security issue?01:35
keesWeatherGod: #ubuntu-hardened is probably best. what's up?01:37
micahgcjohnston: yes01:38
cjohnstonthanks micahg01:38
WeatherGodwell, it isn't a huge security issue, but it could be done better01:38
* micahg doesn't know of another upstream piece of software that people jump on teh day of release01:38
keesmicahg: oh, hi!  asac said you were likely to pull in my PIE changes for firefox-3.6.head, is that right?01:39
micahgkees: yep, when I get home, I'm still bound to $WORK at the moment01:39
keesmicahg: oh! okay, nevermind me then.  :)01:40
micahgkees: if you don't see it merged by midnight feel free to poke again :)01:40
keesmicahg: heh, okay.  and if you run into any glitches with it, ping me.  I strongly suspect it will be fine, but I did only do testing on ff3.501:40

ubot4Launchpad bug 478962 in rhythmbox "[karmic] Audio CDs do not play in rhythmbox after upgrade" [Low,Confirmed] https://launchpad.net/bugs/47896204:40
WeatherGod(yes, the epic one)04:40
WeatherGodturns out it was as simple as just install "Banshee"04:41
micahgWeatherGod: done, are you upstreaming?04:42
WeatherGodI want to investigate a little more to figure out why Rhythmbox isn't finding the CD04:43
WeatherGodstill not 100% certain if Rhythmbox is incapable of detecting the CD, or if it is user error04:43
micahgWeatherGod: have you checked upstream for a bug?04:44
WeatherGodno, not yet04:44
WeatherGodnow that I know it is rhythmbox (I originally thought it was a problem with gnome), I will go looking04:44
WeatherGodwant me to do that first before triaging?04:45
micahgWeatherGod: well, you had me mark triaged, so that should mean confirmed issue ready for developer04:48
hggdhcyan-spam: done04:48
micahgwhich means it might be upstream04:48
cyan-spamthanks hggdh04:49
WeatherGodwell, the report itself is complete04:49
WeatherGodthe exact cause is still the mystery, though04:50
WeatherGodit is ready for a developer, in that sense04:51
WeatherGodI gotta run... I will look for upstream tomorrow morning04:52
cyan-spamis it just me or is gitweb's interface really annoying? how can you find the history of a specific file?04:53
hggdhyou can git clone & then git cola for an easier view04:55
hggdhgitweb is a bit more limited04:55

kermiacit appears to be the same issue07:43
keeskermiac: they're separate issues07:45
keeskermiac: 511014 is because the debconf files were not installed but the postinst needs them07:45
kermiacok, thanks kees. that's why i thought I'd ask first07:45
keeskermiac: 511052 is that the wine version conflicts are for the wrong versions.07:45
keeskermiac: cool07:46
keeskermiac: I'm actually uploading a fix for both of those and another problem now.07:46

arandI have a person I'm helping in #ubuntu which is unable to see the partitons (neither ubiquity nor gparted) using a 9.10 liveCD, and the workaround for Bug #459054 does no good. I'd really like to report a bug against this but it just fells like I'll have no useful info whatsoever to provide  the report... Can I open a report solely based on anectotal evidence from helping in chat, or is that just not useful?15:34
ubot4Launchpad bug 459054 in ubiquity "ubiquity partition step does not show some hard drives" [Undecided,Confirmed] https://launchpad.net/bugs/45905415:34
hggdharand: you can open the bug, but it would really help if we could collect some hard data15:38
arandhggdh: What Kind of data would I request in this type of case? apart from fdisk -l which I presume will show up with "no partitions".15:40
kyubutsuit would be more efficient for this person to learn how report bugs than for you to do it for them15:44
arandTrue... but not always possible, and not knowing myself really how to report the bug, makes it kind of tricky to teach...15:52

qenseok, I'll move the page19:55
qenseit's always nice to clean a ToDo list ;)19:55
jcastrothis is much better than what we had in the past19:55
jcastroyou guys did a sweet job on this19:55
qensethanks! I think this idea became the way it did because it slowly grew into its current shape, adopting a package seems very natural. The question if you want to pay special attention to a certain package has already been a question of the Bug Control application for a few years.19:59
jcastroqense: ping me when it's merged pls20:04

jcastrohah20:04
qenseit was just a copy-paste20:04
jcastroqense: do we care if we call it adopt-an-upstream or adopt-a-package?20:07
qensewell, upstream sounds like upstream, so package would make more sense, but it's just a name and I wouldn't care too much; if only we'd use it consistently20:08
jcastrook, package it is. :D20:08

qensejcastro: shouldn't https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Upstream/Adopt#Bugs get a reference to BugSquad/AdoptPackage?20:18
jcastroyou are correct20:19
jcastrolink to it, but leave it mentioned in the page20:19
jcastroso it doesn't look like we forgot about it20:19
jcastrosomething like "there's so much to do about bugs that it has it's own section!" or something, heh20:19
qenseI'll add a link somewhere in one of those points20:20
qensejcastro: What about adding a sentence like this to the end of the Bugs paragraph: "More information of specifically working on bugs can be found on the wiki page of the Bug Squad's [[BugSquad/AdoptPackage|Adopt-a-Package]] initiative."?20:23
jcastroyeah20:23
jcastrojust enough to not confuse them like we did to ourselves I think20:23
qenseok20:23
qensejcastro: Also, currently the text Bug Squad links to w.u.c/Bugs, whereas the BugSquad has its own wiki page at w.u.c/BugSquad, which contains more information about the team and less about bug reporting in general. Maybe Bug Squad should refer tot he team page?20:24
jcastrodunno about that one.20:25
jcastroask pedro on that one20:25
qenseI'll ask him when I see him online20:26
hggdhqense: I would say yes. We have information spread all around. It would be good to, at least, have them linking to each other20:26
qensewell, lets just first link to BugSquad and maybe ask pedro what he thinks. If someone doesn't like it (s)he can always bug this channel or change it.20:27
qenseI mean, the text is talking about the BugSquad, not about bugs in general in Ubuntu20:28
hggdhyes, and busquad deals with bugs ;-)20:38
qensealso true20:39
hggdhjcastro: on Upstream/FAQ, there is this sentence fragment: "In addition to that, if provide changes requiring additional or modified strings, those translations will only be doable in Launchpad, not upstream. "20:58
