[16:53] what's the question? [16:54] If I wanted to develop an app for some arbitrary function, what do I need to do for it to be available in the repo? [16:54] ah, that's a packaging question [16:55] you'll need to make a debian package that conforms to the repo guidelines, then get someone to sponsor it for inclusion [16:55] because I was thinking of writing some kind of program for qr-codes or something.. Would be a good learning experience, for sure [16:56] ok, so I need to read up on that part first. [16:56] write the app first [16:56] well of course ;) even if I never publish it, I'd like to have the functionality [16:56] then worry about packaging [16:56] was just making sure it was possible before I put too much time into it ;) [16:57] when you're ready to package, you can find a MOTU (Master of the Universe) to help you package it and sponsor it [16:57] ok sounds cool. I would assume they hang out in the motu room? [16:57] you can get most any open-source application into Universe [16:58] cool, thanks!! [16:59] no problem [17:00] spwelton: ask in #ubuntu-motu for more information [17:01] will do! we'll see how writing the code goes first, though. It'll probably be a while before I'm ready to submit anything [17:01] will it be GUI [17:01] ? [17:03] yeah, if I go with the QR-code idea. I'm still brainstorming what I want to write of course, I just know I'd like to learn more about the process and contribute something [17:03] there's currently a couple open source command line tools for qrcodes, I'd just like to maybe bring them all together [17:06] check out https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Quickly then [17:07] cool, will bookmark that for use later tonight when I get some more free time [19:30] * pleia2 pokes lernid_pl2 [21:43] uh oh [21:43] ;-) [23:00] <_marx_> helen: good you're here too [23:14] yay im here :-) [23:27] hi
