[06:18] evening everyone :) [06:19] I was just going to grab the hardy 8.04.4 point release images & I noticed none of the links at http://iso.qa.ubuntu.com are working [09:07] Morning all [09:07] morning davmor2 [09:08] hardy.4 grub is still broken [09:08] :( [09:08] morning davmor2, ara :) [09:09] morning kermiac hows aussie land [09:09] it's very hot atm, lol [09:09] 38 degrees and it's already just after 8pm [09:10] i posted this before, but you guys were not in channel [09:10] I was just going to grab the hardy 8.04.4 point release images & I noticed none of the links at http://iso.qa.ubuntu.com are working [09:11] what iso are we using to test hardy .4? [09:15] kermiac: http://cdimages.ubuntu.com/hardy/ click on daily or daily-live then current [09:17] ty davmor2 [09:19] i see no testcases completed in iso tracker for hardy .4, is that correct? just wondering which image to d/l first to start testing [09:26] kermiac: what ever you want I'd go with live for now though [09:27] davmor2: yeah, I'm d/l i386 live atm [09:27] ty davmor2 [09:28] kermiac: np's [09:33] kermiac, please, set the test as started in the tracker when you start, please [09:35] ara: will do [09:35] kermiac, ta! [09:35] still waiting for iso to d/l cdimage.ubuntu.com seems a bit slow atm [09:36] only getting around 380KB/s [09:36] still got 16.5 mins left for i386 iso [09:37] np'd ara [09:37] np's, even :) [09:37] kermiac: see if there is a local mirror it might go faster for you [09:38] * kermiac checks for local mirror [09:39] umm...is there a list of mirrors? [09:41] kermiac: what the country code for australia? then just try http://countrycode.cdimages.ubuntu.com/hardy/ for example http://us.cdimages.ubuntu.com/hardy/ is the one in the usa just try it in a web browser [09:42] * ara takes a break [09:42] davmor2: usually au [09:43] kermiac: so try http://au.cdimages.ubuntu.com/hardy/ [09:43] i'll see if i can get any extra speed from using http://au.cdimages.ubuntu.com/hardy/ as soon as the i386 image is finished - still got 9.5 mins [09:44] ty davmor2 [09:45] kermiac: the only thing to look at if you use a local mirror is that you download the correct iso as listed on the tracker as your mirror might out. other than that should be fine [09:46] ok davmor2, checking the md5 should verify that right? [09:49] kermiac: no the quickest test is to check the date.version number on the tracker against the local mirror. eg 20100121.2 was the last one yesterday so you would just go in the browser and check that, that was the version on the mirror and then download it. If not then use the standard cdimages instead of the mirror. [09:49] ok ,ty davmor2 :) [10:09] same speed when trying to use http://au.cdimages.ubuntu.com/hardy/ [10:09] looks like there's no au mirror :( [10:18] kermiac: :( worth a try [10:19] yup [10:19] oh well, guess i'll only test i386 for now [10:40] * kermiac is calling it for tonight [10:41] night all, time to watch some tv before bed [11:45] kermiac, night! === fader|away is now known as fader_ [13:13] hello fader_ cr3 [13:14] davmor2: Hey dude, how's life? [13:14] hey dudes [13:15] just got back from the hospital with the mother in law, that's fun :) now lunch then testing :) [13:15] davmor2: I hope everything is okay :( [13:15] fader_: yeah just tests [13:15] Good good. [13:34] davmor2: man, you're testing even when you're not at the computer! [13:34] * cr3 is eating a bowl of cereal and wonders how it could be tested [14:08] cr3: I'm just that damn good ;) that would be the taste, fluid to solid content, sweetness and fibrous content the last of which you'll need to wait at least half a day for :D [14:44] right now that's out the way to testing [15:47] slackers [15:47] davmor3: loser === schwuk_ is now known as schwuk === fader_ is now known as fader|lunch === fader|lunch is now known as fader|_ === fader|_ is now known as fader_ [18:31] fader_: learn to type :P [18:32] davmor2: It's Friday... my brain is gone by now :) [18:32] no now is when it kicks in it's the weekend :) [18:36] fader_, cr3: enjoy your weekend tty soon [18:36] davmor2: You too! [18:54] fader_, cr3: baguette! [18:55] fader_, ara: looks like there's a long way to go on iso testing for 8.04.4; are we expecting this to ramp up Monday? [18:56] slangasek: I'm unlikely to have bandwidth to do much of the ISO testing as I'm having to do a lot manually to get the cert testing done for 8.04.4 :( [18:57] * slangasek nods [18:57] fader_: was more wondering if you knew what the status was, seeing as you're QA team and ara is probably after-hours :) [18:58] slangasek: I don't know what the status is, sorry... I will shoot an email to the QA mailing list and request some extra help on this though [19:00] ok [19:00] I did email the QA list already, but I think my request is still stuck in the moderation queue [19:01] slangasek: Ah, okay... in that case me emailing as well would probably not help too much, as I'd also be stuck there until ara sees it anyway [19:01] moustafa: Hey, sorry -- missed your hello :) [19:03] fader_: ah, heh; does the list not allow posts by subscribers? [19:03] slangasek: Not sure actually; I had just assumed you were a subscriber :) [19:03] nope [19:04] Okay, then I'll change my mind again and send out the email... worth a shot [19:09] Sent. [19:09] looks like ara did send out a mail, as well [19:10] Yes, I just followed up to hers [20:37] hi everyone [20:38] are the daily-live .iso's broken for the past 2 days? [20:38] i can't seem to get them started in virtual machines [20:43] Akos: I was okay yesterday on real hardware [20:43] Akos: I assume you checked the MD5 of the image already? [20:44] slangasek: http://people.canonical.com/~fader/sru-testing/8.04.4.html has some preliminary results up (basically the servers in the London DC); more results and better formatting to follow, probably Monday afternoonish [20:44] Though if things go very well I might have more today :) [20:44] fader_: ok, thanks [20:45] Akos: broken in a different way than how alpha-2 is broken on virtual machines (boot splash doesn't work)? [20:50] fader_: i zsynched them [20:50] slangasek: just simply it doesn't boot, so i can't install or get in the live cd mode [20:50] all i see is '_' on the top of the screen [20:51] Akos: did alpha-2 work for you? [20:51] slangasek: i didn't try, but i'll download it now [20:51] Akos: quicker test: try taking the 'splash' option off the kernel commandline when booting [20:53] slangasek: when booting of the CD? [20:53] yes [20:53] i'll try too, not sure if i can [20:54] okay, done [20:54] i took out only splash out [20:54] should i take out 'quiet splash --' or just 'splash' ? [20:55] okay, taking quiet splash -- out started something [20:57] http://akos.me/lucid.png [20:57] this is where it halted for some time [21:01] http://akos.me/lucid1.png this is what has changed, nothing going on for minutes now [21:01] i'll download the alpha 2 [21:11] alpha 2 works .. [21:33] morning all :) [21:45] kermiac: Howdy [21:47] hey fader_ :) [21:58] * kermiac is almost awake now after a few coffees. Time to start testing :) === fader_ is now known as fader|away
