ilumidarthanubis: kde doesnt install codecs04:32
darthanubisI did not ask that it did04:33
ScuniziThanks to ilumi and his patients I got a static IP working!  now the big test.. will it stick after reboot since I marked it "auto connect"..04:33
darthanubisI asked a very specific question04:33
darthanubisit was also yes or no04:33
kaddi_darthanubis: i guess the answer is no04:33
ilumidarthanubis: well, if there is no codec, you cant play it ,can you04:33
darthanubisstill not what I asked04:34
darthanubispure does not mean fresh install04:34
* RiotingPacifist find's darthanubis's lack of codec disturbing04:34
darthanubishence the confusion04:34
kaddi_well pure kde wouldn't even run, no? you do need some kernel and a couple more things I'd imagine? :p04:35
ilumidarthanubis: besides, what browser are you talking about, because you need extra plugins to play that in firefox, and probably other browsers04:35
darthanubisI could di it if I wanted or did not mind pulling totem-mozilla plugins and all the crap with it, but I'm trying to avoid that04:35
darthanubisright not I'm trying to get it doen in chrome and arora04:36
darthanubiskonq is trash04:36
ilumidarthanubis: isnt arora a renamed firefox?04:36
darthanubisbasically04:36
darthanubiswithout all the stuff FF depends on04:37
ilumidarthanubis: like?04:37
kaddi_there's a vlc-plugin for firefox that can replace totem I believe. I used to use, don't recall why I ain't using it anymore though04:37
RiotingPacifistilumi: nah it's a webkit based qt browser, it doesn't play with kde but i think work is being done to couple them a bit more04:37
darthanubisplaying with kde jsut fine04:38
darthanubiskaddi_: can you watch apple trailers?04:38
ilumiRiotingPacifist: i have it installed, but dont use it, what do you mean it doesnt play with kde04:38
RiotingPacifistilumi: last time i used it it had it's own password, history and bookmarks managers04:39
ilumiRiotingPacifist: oh , you mean integration04:39
ilumiRiotingPacifist: i prefer firefox, so dont really care,04:40
ilumibu tit does seem pretty fast04:41
RiotingPacifistyeah, its a nice qt browser, but doesn't integrate with KDE, rekonq is not as polished but does, firefox isn't qt based but there is work being done so bookmarks and other features play nice04:41
ilumidarthanubis: why do you care about quicktime,, isnt that like a dinosaur of codecs?04:44
ilumidarthanubis: i dont remember las time i seen a quicktime video on the web04:44
kaddi_darthanubis: there's also mplayer that's supposed to be capable of it. i'm checking apple website right now, I'll let you know when I figured something out04:45
darthanubiskaddi_: http://www.apple.com/trailers/universal/greenzone/04:45
darthanubistry to play that04:45
darthanubisI installed totem-mozilla and that has not worked, that usually does it04:46
darthanubisunless I have to completely install totem and its plugins04:46
darthanubisI did not care before what got installed last time I had this working, but I do now04:46
darthanubisdon't want to pull  a bunch of gnome stuff down04:46
APERSONgrr... why won't xchat remember my 'hide join/parts' for this channel?04:50
kaddi_well try mplayer or vlc then04:50
APERSONI use vlc's04:50
darthanubisAPERSON: quicktime works for you?04:50
darthanubiswhich borwser you use?04:50
APERSONI was just idly stating that I uses vlc's browser plugin to handle things04:51
darthanubisi c04:51
eitreachWhat is the plasmoid called that mimics the Windows 7 task list?04:52
kaddi_darthanubis: according to this bug-report: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/totem/+bug/418064 It's not your browser that can't play quicktime, it's apple being an ass and not wanting linux users to watch their trailers. They only let clients identifying as quicktime play their movies04:56
kaddi_it's got nothing to do with being able to play quicktime movies or not04:57
kaddi_seems fixed in totem, can't find much about it on other plugins04:57

tsimpson*don't click the link if you see them, they will cause _you_ to attack the channel*06:09
kaddi_hehe, ok06:10
kaddi_haven't seen one so far, though06:10
tsimpsonit's a malformed ctcp version with a link in it, which causes your web browser to send data to freenode and attack channels with the same link06:11
tsimpson^if you click it06:11

PiciYour nick starts with a K?20:46
Kangurulol, thats a coincidence :D20:46
omfgBBQwell if you 're on a kde channel ppl will tell Kubuntu and on ubuntu ppl will tell Ubuntu20:46
gsprKanguru: you prefer KDE to Gnome, perhaps?20:46
omfgBBQI think you should try both :D20:46
shadeslayerKanguru: cuz youre on #kubuntu and not #ubuntu20:46
Kanguruk, ill ask this then, i heard that on opensuse u can always install the latest stable KDE when its available, but not in kubuntu :S20:47
omfgBBQwell20:48
omfgBBQI was banned about 30 min ago saying something like that20:48
omfgBBQopenSUSE Kde integration is better :320:48
PiciKanguru: We strive for stability, which may not always be the latest.  There are respositories for the latest KDE releases though.20:49
omfgBBQbut20:49
omfgBBQI preffer *debian based, because I dont like yast and rpm distros20:49
Kangurucan u explain Pici? so opensuse always gives u the latest kde, but with unstability like bugs?20:50
shadeslayerKanguru: what version of KDE would you like?20:51
omfgBBQopenSUSE gives you a cool integration with KDE20:51
omfgBBQNovell treats KDE`s more professionally than Canonical20:51
PiciomfgBBQ: Do you have anything constructive to say here?20:52
shadeslayeromfgBBQ: seriously dont want to argue20:52
Kangurushadeslayer, good question, idk tbh, my logic tells me u should always be using the latest stable version20:52
Pici!latest20:52
ubottuPackages in Ubuntu may not be the latest. Ubuntu aims for stability, "latest" may not be a good idea. Post-release updates are only considered if they are: fixes for security vulnerabilities, high impact bug fixes, or unintrusive bug fixes with substantial benefit. See also !backports.20:52

Kanguruno i cant20:54
shadeslayerKanguru: Also we offer whatever KDE has released recently, for eg : we have 4.3.5 and 4.4 RC2 respectively in the repos20:54

jmux_Hi. I'm on Kubuntu 9.10 with KDE 4.4rc2. It seems that all "authorization" dialogs of KDE (kmail, kwallet, etc) have ceased functioning. If I enter my IMAP-PW for kmail and press ok, nothing happens. kwalletd uses 75% of CPU until I cancel the request (the other 25% are claimed by xorg). Since I can't remember, when I really used them last time, I can't tell, if it's really a 4.4rc problem. Any ideas how to debug this problem?22:52
