tech404When I use firefox 3.6 as packaged in the PPA I have a strange issue where the window scrolls when I click on some objects so that the object is at the bottom of the window. It seems to happen with objects that have javascript actions associated with them but I'm not sure that is the issue. When using the deb package from the firefox site with the same profile the problem does not exist.10:26
tech404As an example. When I click on certain dropdown boxes, text fields, and buttons the screen will scroll up so that what I clicked on is at the very bottom of the window. It seems to do it on button down because the click often fails as the object is not under the mouse anymore when I release the button.10:28
tech404I need to sign off for a moment so I can use the official non-buggy version. I will be back in a moment and lurk for a bit in case someone has a question about my issue.10:30

asacmicahg: we dont have a libcairo.so in our firefox package?16:35
asacis that true ;)?16:35
asacfeels wrong16:36
asachave to check what goes on16:36
micahgyes seems like it :(16:36
asacif you have a built-tree maybe check if that is in dist/bin16:36
micahgI only have  a tb3 build area right now16:37
micahgI can test over the weekend16:37
micahgasac: would that be why our build doesn't look so good then?16:38
asacis upstream build ok?16:38
asacfeels likely this could cause issues16:38
asackinda strnage that it works at all ;)16:38
micahgwe're linked against system cairo but not building with it :(16:38
micahghttp://pastebin.com/fe5b069e16:40
micahgthat actually looks disturbing ^^16:40
micahgasac: ^^16:41
asacmicahg: right. i think the .so should be in debian/tmp ... but we dont put it in package properly or something16:50
asaci am not sure whats going on ... we seem to copy the .so's from the branding dir in debian/rules16:50
asacmight be a typo16:50
asacbut the .so should also be there16:50
asacso maybe its just in dist/bin ... but never gets installed by make instlal16:50
BUGabundo_remote[reed]: html5 spec says anything about video tag should start videos paused?17:02
micahgasac: re tb-locales, can we make a tb-addons dir now that tb is being versioned?17:04
asacmicahg: no ... we dont need that anymore17:08
asactbird location is /usr/lib/mozilla/APPID/EXTENSIONID17:08
micahgasac: but tb3 gets installed into a new dir ever version?17:08
asacso ship those locales in /usr/share/thunderbird-locales ... and creat links according to the EXTENSIONID17:09
micahgah17:09
asacat best just use xpi.mk17:09
asacnot sure if that works for multiple extensions already ... check with bdrung17:09
micahgdoes xpi.mk have instructions? :)17:09
bdrungmicahg: http://wiki.debian.org/mozilla-devscripts17:10
micahgthanks bdrung17:11
micahgasac: so I should convert tb-locales to use m-dev?17:11
micahgthis'll be a learning experience :)17:12
asac_had a reconnect17:13
micahg(11:11:53 AM) micahg: asac: so I should convert tb-locales to use m-dev?17:14
micahg(11:12:05 AM) micahg: this'll be a learning experience :)17:14
micahgbdrung: the debian wiki doesn'17:14
micahgt seem to work17:14
asac_bdrung: does it work easily for multi bin packages?17:14
asac_the wiki page seems to not exist for me17:14
bdrungasac: yes. example: http://paste2.org/p/63937017:16
bdrungasac: the wiki is down17:16
asac_hmm17:16
asac_micahg: so i guess you need to replace the current copy unzip etc.17:17
asac_just with install-xpi commands17:17
asac_hmm. wasnt that dh_installxpi ?17:17
asac_guess not17:17
BUGabundo_remote[reed]: asac: mind triaging it : https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=54303717:17

micahgasac_: should the name convention remain tb-locale-XX?17:18
asac_BUGabundo_remote: have you chcked for dupes?17:18
asac_micahg: yeah. keep that as it is17:18
BUGabundo_remoteasac I haven't17:18
asac_bdrung: i think its cdbs ... is that just install-xpi in install: ?17:18
BUGabundo_remotemany of this OOOP bugs are new17:19
BUGabundo_remotesome will be dupes17:19
BUGabundo_remotebut its too hard for a common user17:19
micahgbdrung: so, if I use the debhelper, I don't need to include xpi.mk, right17:19
bdrungmicahg: yes (and you can install more than one xpi file). cdbs' xpi.mk supports only one xpi file17:20
micahgbdrung: what the min version of devscripts and debhelper?17:21
asac_most recent i guess ;)17:21
asac_0.1917:21
asac_?17:21
bdrungmicahg: debhelper 7.0.50~ and m-d >= 0.19~17:21
bdrungmicahg: that's all on the wiki ;)17:22
micahgbdrung: that's down ;)17:22
bdrungi know. ==> ;)17:22
bdrungmicahg: workaround: http://people.ubuntu.com/~bdrung/mozilla-devscripts.htm17:24
micahgbdrung: do I need the Recommends, Provides, and Enhances?17:27
micahgor will lintian complain?17:27
=== asac_ is now known as asac
micahgasac: can I install the .xpi as is, or do I still need to do the stuff that's in the install target?17:29
bdrungmicahg: every real extension should have Recommends, Provides, and Enhances, but building won't fail if not17:32
micahgk, I added it to the template17:36
micahgbdrung: can I install the upstream .xpi as is with install-xpi?17:38
bdrungmicahg: yes17:40
micahgasac: should I comment out stuff in the rules file, or can I jsut delete the lines I don't need17:41
asacmicahg: keep the diff.gz etc. of the current revision17:55
asacsomewhere safe17:55
asacthen go ahead and remove stuff17:55
micahgasac: my current revision or the aarchive?17:55
asacyour current revision that you worked on17:55
micahg:), ok17:55
asacwhatever you have right now ... which was good besides the install location17:55
asac;)17:55
micahgk, it's actually on LP, so we're good17:56
micahgasac: do I need a build target, it's just dh_testdir and touch build-stamp now?17:58
asacyes17:58
micahgk17:58
asacyou need the testdir at least i guess17:58
micahgthat's already in the install target17:59
asachmm. not sure. doesnt hurt i guess17:59
micahgasac: should I install target not have anything if I'm doing it all in override_dh_auto_install?18:00
micahgor can I do install-xpi in install?18:01
asaci dont know18:03
asaci thin the overrride thing is debhelper 718:03
asacif you dontr redo everything i would say ignore that18:03
asacadd that xpi-install to the binary-install target or something18:03
sebnermicahg: install is for install files,. auto_install is usually for make install stuff18:06
micahgasac: k, I uploaded a new build, let's see what happens18:12
asacheh18:13
asactry locally ;)18:13
asaclangpacks should be fast enough to check18:13

asacthat line needs a \18:44
asacat the end18:44
micahgit has it18:45
asacwithout a whitespace after that \18:45
asacnot in the paste18:45
micahgit's off to the right18:45
asacwhat is the problem?18:45
asac-p thunder18:45
asacusually thats without a whitespace18:46
asacinstall-xpi -p thunderbird-locale-${CURLOCALESMALL} $i18:46
micahgthe vars aren't expanding18:46
asacthat needs double $18:46
asacin both places18:46
asacin make $ gets evaluated right away ... $$ escapes that18:47
micahgah, which is why my test echos were failing18:47
micahgk, so now my test echos work, but the install-xpi line still isn't evaluating18:48
micahg:nm18:49
asackk18:49
micahgI think I need it under that target18:51
micahgI get crashes18:51

asaccheck what is in line 24418:56
asacdo you have Architecture: all for all binary packages?18:56
asacin control?18:56
micahgit's supposed to be binary indep18:57
asaci know18:57
asacbut is that in control?18:57
asacall packages need Architecture: all18:57
micahgyes, Arch: all18:57
asacis there a debian/control at all?18:58
micahgyes18:58
micahg650+ lines ;)18:58
asaci would think that control has syntax errors or the install-xpi command run has bad parameters18:59
asacmost likely the -p parameter doesnt exist in debian/control19:00
micahg-p in control?19:00
asacno19:00
asacinstall-xpi -p...19:00
asacthat is the package name19:00
micahgyes19:00
micahgah19:00
asacif you have en-XX.xpi and dont have a package called ...-en-xx19:00
asacthen it would fail19:00
asacin my book19:00
asacnot sure if it would be this crash19:01
asacbut worht checking19:01

asactry just one package manually19:02
asacon the command line19:02
asacand see19:02
micahgseems to have worked :(19:03
micahgah, seems to be a path issue19:04
ftaasac, apparently, -l10n as a separate arch all deb is causing issues19:08
micahg\o/19:10
asacgreat ;)19:11
micahggot another crash later :(19:11
micahgseems to be a problem with one ofthe xpis19:11
asacfta: you mean for chromium?19:11
ftayes19:12
micahgah, install.rdf seems to have some whitespace19:12
ftaasac, got several complaints from users about random translations19:13
ftamy best bet is amd64 users upgrading when the i386=all still not ready19:13
ftaso they run the new chromium with the old lang pack19:14
asacyeah19:15
asacthats definitly the case19:15
asacso you can tighten the dependency19:16
asaclike depends chromium-browser (= ${binary:Version} )19:16
asacif there is the likelyhood of mixup19:16
micahgasac: about the white space in the .xpi file, should I edit it manually?19:17
micahgor do I have to have the rules file repackage?19:18
asacmicahg: which .xpi?19:18
asacwhich lang?19:18
micahgfy-NL.xpi has 3 lines of white space19:18

asacyeah. so drop that .xpi for now19:18

micahgk, asac, I've gtg though, can I finish this up sat night?19:19
asacyeah. i wont be uploading today anyway, as i will be travelling all day tomorrow19:19
asacso cannot fix bustages like complete /home wipe ;)19:19

asacnot sure yet when i will be online19:20
micahgk19:20
asacmicahg: i will definitly let you know19:20
ftaasac, iirc, you asked me to remove it a while ago19:20
asacfta: could be. i wouldnt have thought that it is so fragile19:20
asacif thats really the case its really ugly translation mechanism19:20
