onetinsoldierSensiva: you're welcome. enjoy :-)06:43
Sensivaahaaa, nice one06:45
onetinsoldiercheers :-)06:45
onetinsoldieri just installed it here06:45
onetinsoldierwant to clean up you install a little? try the following... dpkg -l | grep '^rc'06:48
onetinsoldierfor anything listed there run the following command --> dpkg --purge <package_name>06:48
crimsunSensiva: if you're upgrading Ubuntu (ubuntu-desktop), that's expected. I seeded libsdl1.2debian-pulseaudio explicitly since it's the preferred backend for PA-enabled systems. Derivatives such as Kubuntu (kubuntu-desktop) use libsdl1.2debian-alsa still (they don't ship PA).06:50
crimsun(OTOH, nothing prevents you from using PA in Kubuntu.)06:52
onetinsoldiercheers crimsun :-)06:53

BactaSo what's this I'm hearing about Ubuntu switching to Yahoo! for search in Firefox?12:00
tsimpsonYahoo! offered a better deal12:01
BactaMore money?12:01
tsimpsonyes12:01
BactaEven though search will be powered by Bing?12:01
tsimpsonthat has nothing to do with it12:02
BactaI think it has everything to do with it12:03
jetienne!info ruby12:03
BactaThere are a number of people who would have serious issues with this12:03
tsimpsonwhat backend Yahoo! use is up to them12:03
ubotturuby (source: ruby-defaults): An interpreter of object-oriented scripting language Ruby. In component main, is optional. Version 4.2 (lucid), package size 20 kB, installed size 100 kB12:03
jetienneruby 4.2 :)12:04
jetienneanybody knows if there is plan to switch to ruby1.9 by default ?12:04
tsimpsonJeruvy: that would depend if debian do12:05
BactaI realise I can change what search I use but I wouldn't want to oneday start up my new Lucid Lynx installation and see a big Powered by Microsoft Bing logo in there12:05
BactaWhy not give people the option to select their search provider during the install process?12:05
tsimpson!ot12:06
ubottu#ubuntu+1 handles support for the development version of Ubuntu.  Please join #ubuntu for all other Ubuntu support.  Chat in #ubuntu-offtopic.12:06
BactaI'm banned in #ubuntu-offtopic12:06
tsimpsonthat doesn't mean you can be offtopic here12:07
BactaBut I am giving you a possible feature suggestion for Lynx ;)12:07
tsimpsonif you would like to submit a patch for firefox to ubuntu, please do12:07
jetiennea chrome frame patch ? :)12:07
BactaWell it would be an installer option12:08
tsimpsonit would be a firefox option, nothing to do with the installer12:08
BactaCurrently when you install Ubuntu you can go into some more advanced options although it's not mandatory12:08
tsimpsonif I never use FF, I never want to be asked12:09
BactaWhat I'm suggesting is having the ability to configure your installation of Firefox before the fact12:09
tsimpsonsee my previous comment12:09
BactaWell if you look up a bit I did say it could be an option for "advanced" users12:11
Bacta:P12:11
* elky raises an eyebrow12:12
elkyi'm pretty certain that this really isn't the best place to be discussing this.12:12
BactaIt is, I'm suggesting a feature for Lynx12:12
elkylaunchpad supports filing wishlist bugs last i checked12:13
ikoniait seems like an overkill when you can just select what search provider you want post install12:14
jetienneBacta: you are not talking to the proper people. the proper way is to request a feature on launchpad12:14
ikoniaif it's pre or post install it doesn't matter, but that fact that pre-install would take more effort seems a waste12:14
tsimpsonBacta: lynx doesn't have a default search engine12:15
BactaWell KK does12:15
tsimpsonlynx does not, even in karmic12:16
jetienneanybody knows if there is plan to switch to ruby1.9 by default ? (bis)12:16
jetienneor suggestion on where i could get this info12:17
ikoniajetienne: it wasn't on the road map, and it was discussed a reasonable amount at UDS from memory as some apps broke with 1.912:17
tsimpsonif debian switches, then so will ubuntu12:17
tsimpsonbecause, if debian switches, they'll fix all the bugs for us :)12:17
jetienneikonia: so "quite unlikely" for lucid... is a fair answer ?12:18
ikoniaI'd put a few $$ on it12:18
ikonia(not happening I mean)12:18
jetienneok thx12:18
Bactabtw the FF installation for Karmic gives you a "custom" Google search and seems to add a few extra Ubuntu specific plugins12:19

petsoundsarand, this is my sources.list http://pastebin.ca/1771914 can you tell me what line i should remove? thanks13:42

SodligHello20:14
meowagiwhy the hell is this crapgrub so damn complicated, i can't debug this crap20:15
meowagiyou need to load the kernel first!20:15
SodligI run Ubuntu on a dual boot togheter with my WinXP.  So I tried installing an Intel g card driver. Somehow it got  messed up and after my shut off, it's unable to boot properly. It  gets passed the Ubuntu logo and so on, but then everything goes  black, unable to do anything not even press ctrl + alt + f2. So I  bet something got messed up in the xorg.file, therefor Im asking,  is it any way to fix it? Like, getting back to the default 20:15
meowagipress any key to continue20:15
meowagiah, i get mad20:16
meowagireinstall the whole crap again is annoying20:16
penguin42Sodlig: How did you install the intel driver?20:17
