[05:12] hmm, the versatile kernel doesn't seem to want to boot on my beagleboard. [05:12] And it didn't even make a uimage for u-boot. [05:14] I didn't know the versatile kernel -could- boot on a beagle [05:15] then again, I'm using a Versatile Express (Quad Core A9) kernel [05:15] So it kind of depends on which Versatile board you're using [05:15] There -are- beagle kernels though... [05:16] hmm, I was just hoping for one that had working usb-gadget networking. [05:16] I [05:17] hmm, so Versatile is a specific product line, not "generic" like on x86 and amd64? [05:17] =รพ [05:19] correct [05:19] and it's a product line that spans ARM architectures [05:19] so there are Versatile boards with ARMv6, and v7 processors [05:21] Might be good to change the package description to say "Versatile[TM]" -- if it's a registered trademark. [05:21] use unicode TM, though. [05:23] heh [05:23] naa [05:23] It's just that ARM likes reusing names [05:23] And in the ARM world, machines/platforms abound. [05:24] however, lets get to what YOU want .. which is a beagle kernel with usb-gadget enabled? [05:24] specifically usbnet? [05:24] I was using these: http://elinux.org/BeagleBoardUbuntu [05:24] It has g_ether seemingly built-in, but it never actually transmits packets. [05:24] At least, the host only sees "Ethernet II" frames in wireshark. [05:25] Yep, I've got the same kernel [05:25] Well, you can download the source and then cross compile your own kernel. [05:25] IF you're patient, you can even do it on the beagleboard (compile takes ~2 hours) [05:25] eh, cross-compile on a core2duo 2.4 should do that in waaaaaaaaaay less time. [05:26] Yep [05:26] configuring USB gadget is one of the fiddly drivers [05:45] hmm, weird that it doesn't work with those kernels already built. [05:52] /sys/bus/pci/devices: No such file or directory at /usr/sbin/sensors-detect line 2453. [05:55] well, yeah, there's no pci. [06:01] hmm, looks like lm-sensors assumes the presence of PCI. [06:29] hmm, so is that usb networking just supposed to not work, by default? [06:29] Should I file a bug about it, or not (due to not using an official kernel)? [07:50] weird... the first time after I change kernels, the system boots to where it does something... and then auto-reboots once. === asac_ is now known as asac [15:08] is there any option to get wifi running "stable" under ubuntu karmic on the beagleboard? does the new version come out in february (told in the wiki...) === asac_ is now known as asac [15:42] Martyn: going to mwc?
