jp--guys... how can I find out the name that will get the filesystem partition of a usb flash drive? I've tried using sda1, sdb1, sdc1... but can't get it to boot using exec, after a dist-upgrade--- btw, it didn't upgrade the kernel :/00:56
jp--it's the same one that was on 8.0400:56
jp--I did a dist-upgrade from 8.04 to 9.0400:56
jp--do I have to change the /boot/grub/device.map file?00:57
sistpotyjp--: probably a question more suitable for #ubuntu?00:58
jp--(hd0) /dev/sdc00:58
jp--it said that, I changed to (hd0) /dev/sdb, which was originally working on 8.0400:58
jp--ok sistpoty00:58
jp--anyways.00:58
jp--arg, didn't work, still showing "Begin: Waiting for root file system01:01

lucasare automatic debian imports from squeeze still being done? or was that disabled?10:01
dupondjelucas: how you mean10:08
lucasdupondje: the release schedule says we are past debian import freeze, but I don't remember reading that it was actually disabled.10:09
dupondjedon't know if its really disabled :)10:11
maxbGiven that "automatic" is actually just "archive admins run it manually semi-regularly", I think it's safe to assume it's disabled10:45
geserjelmer: Hi, do you know an easy solution to make bzr-gtk installable again in lucid again (lucid has bzr 2.1.0~rc2)?10:53

cjwatsonpitti: did a work items tracker update fail?  lucid.db != lucid.db.2010021314:09
cjwatsonpitti: hmm, or rather they're the same but different timestamps, seems odd that it hasn't updated since 2010-02-12 20:17 - how often are the updates?14:09

rohit01I am Rohit from India. I want to do some development work in ubuntu with python as a programming language. I need a mentor to guide me.16:41
directhexrohit01, this channel is for development *of* ubuntu, not *with*16:42
persiaWe clearly need a channel for development *with* Ubuntu.16:47
Tm_Tpersia: feel free to create one (:16:48
* persia instead hunts for someone who might have an interest in regularly attending such a channel16:48

HexxehHi19:50
HexxehIs it appropriate to ask a question about how Wubi works here?19:50
Rawxor So i just installed Ubuntu Karmic (9.10) on a little mini PC (Acer Revo) - sound seems to work fine - except for in flash movies in firefox... i've read a ton of stuff that says to remove pulseaudio, but i'd rather it work _WITH_ PulseAudio - Any ideas?19:52
HexxehRawxor: #ubuntu19:53
RawxorHexxeh: That channel is utterly useless19:54
HexxehIt's the support channel, this channel is for development.19:54
RawxorHexxeh: there are far too many people coiming in and out of it constantly to be useful19:54
HexxehRegardless, this channel is not for support, read the topic.19:55
RawxorHexxeh: so lets develop a solution to my problem :)19:55
kklimondaRawxor, then use ubuntuforums.org19:55
Rawxor:( off to the forums again19:55
sistpotycjwatson: quick question about p-a-s: I want to add more arches to libunwind (see bug #519996), is it sufficient to commit/push to lp:packages-arch-specific and then do a non-change rebuild for libunwind? anything else I need to pay attention to?20:33

sistpotycjwatson: nevermind, libunwind FTBFS on i386/amd64 so it needs to fixed there first anyways :/20:38
jp--hi guys... how can I cleanly umount the root ext2 partition on my system when I shut it down so I avoid fsck to reboot my system when fixing nodes of the ext2 partition on every startup? thanks!22:07
lifelessthe normal shutdown should do that; you might consider a FS newer than 1990 as well ;)22:11
IDWMasterWhy can't DEB packages be uploaded in binary format to Launchpad, and compiled locally? I sometimes send in packages and they don't always build properly in a virtual environment.22:31
IDWMaster Why can't DEB packages be uploaded in binary format to Launchpad, and compiled locally? I sometimes send in packages and they don't always build properly in a virtual environment.22:35
ionDoes it echo in here?22:35
ionThere’s something wrong with the package if it fails to build from source.22:36
iongenerally22:36
IDWMasterI just resent the same package and it built the second time.22:36
IDWMasterMaybe some error in transmission?22:37
IDWMasterI was sending in a P2P chat/file sharing application.22:38
IDWMasterIt builds most of the time, but sometimes it just doesn't work right.22:39
cjwatsonsistpoty: it's fine to push, although I think it may take a while for the LP buildds to update.  However the Debian buildd maintainers have specifically asked that we file bugs on the buildd.debian.org pseudopackage in Debian if we make changes there23:41
sistpotycjwatson: thanks. I guess the change is already in debian, let me dig it up23:42
sistpotycjwatson: ah, no it isn't. but as I wrote, it doesn't build for i386/amd64, so I'll try to get it fixed in unstable first before acting on p-a-s there23:49
cjwatsonsistpoty: *nod*, thanks23:50
sistpotythanks for the info! :)23:50
