[19:26] hello [19:26] is login.ubuntu.com on topic for this channel? [19:41] AlanBell: go for it [19:46] so login.ubuntu.com becomes the new authentication server [19:46] so what is my new openID URL? [19:48] hmm... good question... [19:50] AlanBell: ill try to find out for you [19:55] thanks [19:59] hi AlanBell, I don't know but I might know who to ask. Is there an email address I can use in case the reply is not prompt? (if so private /msg me if you like) [19:59] alanbell@u.c [19:59] ok [19:59] ty newz2000 [20:03] AlanBell: hi, it looks like it is remaining launchpad.net/~user [20:03] err, ok [20:04] not entirely sure I understand the point of the whole exercise then [20:04] well, the point is to decouple it from launchpad [20:04] it's been part of LP for a while now [20:05] * AlanBell goes back to read the article again [20:05] but it was disorienting for users to log into the ubuntu cart and get bounced to launchpad (or etc). [20:05] AlanBell: link please? [20:05] blog.canonical.com [20:05] cjohnston: ^ [20:05] ty. [20:06] http://blog.canonical.com/?p=330 [20:06] ty [20:07] "Ubuntu single sign on is built on OpenID so, once all the sites we know about have moved over, we will also be opening up the OpenID service to enable you to log in to any site which accepts standard OpenIDs." [20:08] I guess that means there will be a new openID url but not yet [20:12] so I use my launchpad ID to log in to a bunch of other sites all over the net [20:13] I rarely use the shop (once per release to get the new Tshirt as long as it isn't the one with nipple markers and a chest hair blob) [20:13] do I need to care about login.ubuntu.com? [20:42] AlanBell: I don't think you'll have to care about it. It will kind of work automatically. [20:43] thanks [20:44] fwiw there are a number of other people in just the -uk loco who have seen the announcement, logged in to it and been a bit perplexed at what to do next [20:59] I'm also wondering how login.ubuntu.com will impact workflow, but in my case it's for LoCo web sites using Launchpad for authentication. In addition to just the usual login stuff, I was also hoping to pull info from LP profiles like real name and location (the latter in hopes of being able to do something like "what's the nearest release party to me?"). [21:00] tonyyarusso: that's a good question, I'm not clear on the details myself [21:00] tonyyarusso, AlanBell: would you guys mind mentioning your questions on the mailing list? [21:00] newz2000: err, which one? [21:00] I can then forward them to the team to consider and we can uncover the answers in a more public forum [21:00] tonyyarusso: well, I guss ubuntu-website [21:00] okie doke [21:03] I asked it here too -> https://answers.launchpad.net/canonical-identity-provider/+question/101324 [21:11] tonyyarusso: if you've not sent it yet, I think AlanBell's suggestion is the better place
