ddecatormicahg, if you're around it's a firefox bug ^00:00
bcurtiswxddecator: i put back to private for now00:01
ddecatorbcurtiswx, alright thanks00:01
micahgddecator: yeah, we can't do anything until the retracer looks at it, so if you see something public with a coredump, make private and explain why00:01
ddecatorcan bugsquad make them private? i thought bugcontrol had to do that00:02
hggdhanyone that has access can00:02
ddecatorgood to know00:02
Roxyhart0hi ddecator, i see my report of bug unasigned...nobody is cheking this one? https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/samba/+bug/52248202:00
ubot4Launchpad bug 522482 in samba (Ubuntu) "Domain Members can not join to Samba DC (ubuntu 9.10). (affects: 1)" [Undecided,New]02:01
ddecatorRoxyhart0, micahg probably just forgot to this morning. i can remind him when he gets back, otherwise someone else on here might see this and be able to look over it as well02:01
Roxyhart0thanks a lot, i really need solve this problem soon02:03
ddecatoranyone familiar with samba here?02:03
ddecatormicahg, did you get a chance to look at that samba report this morning?02:28
micahgddecator: yeah, unfortunately it doesn't look like the same bug that I was refered to last night02:29
micahgneeds more research02:29
ddecatorRoxyhart0, ^02:29
* micahg double checks the upstream bug02:30
micahgwell, I might have been looking at the wrong upstream bug, but the one I was looking at certainly isn't it02:31
bcurtiswxbackporting is harsh :P02:33
Roxyhart0is this one: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/samba/+bug/52248202:37
ubot4Launchpad bug 522482 in samba (Ubuntu) "Domain Members can not join to Samba DC (ubuntu 9.10). (affects: 1)" [Undecided,New]02:37
Roxyhart0look very similar to the before02:37
micahgRoxyhart0: it looks like the old bug that ddecator posted?02:37
micahgor the one in the message?02:37
ddecatormicahg, yah, i didn't really look at it, Roxyhart0 found it as a possibility so i thought i'd put it on there for you to look over02:38
ddecatoridk anything about samba so i had no idea if it was related or not02:38
micahgRoxyhart0: how familiar are you with samba?02:38
Roxyhart0no too much bu i got running 3 server just domain member server, this one is domain controler02:40
micahgRoxyhart0: if I show you the changelog for 3.4.1, you think you can tell me which bug is yours?02:41
Roxyhart0ait a min02:42
ddecatorso my guess is, if a bug -seems- to be fixed in lucid, but the exact cause of the bug in karmic isn't known, then it can't be marked "fix released" since we can't know for sure that one was?02:46
Roxyhart0it is similat t this one https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/samba/+bug/16454402:46
ubot4Launchpad bug 164544 in samba (Ubuntu) (and 1 other project) "Error while join to domain (Unable to create machine account)" [Undecided,Triaged]02:46
micahgddecator: right02:48
ddecatorthought so, thanks micahg02:48
micahgRoxyhart0: here's the changelog for 3.4.1, if you can tell me which bug, I can see about making you a test package to see if it's fixed: http://samba.org/samba/history/samba-3.4.1.html02:48
Roxyhart0i think is this onw, but i can not even join my ourn PDC...maybe this one as well    o Fix Winbind authentication issue (bug #6646).02:51
ubot4Launchpad bug 6646 in trac (Ubuntu) "trac: merge new debian version" [Medium,Fix released] https://launchpad.net/bugs/664602:51
Roxyhart0i try to join my windows client i i couldnt...i just translate the ldp database form the old server to this new one02:51
micahgRoxyhart0: that's what I thought too, but the fix is due to a timeout02:52
Roxyhart0sorry what do you mean?02:57
micahgidk, I'm not that familiar with samba03:00
* micahg can make a test package and you can see if it helps03:00
Roxyhart0:( please dont tell me that03:06
Roxyhart0there are new than can be a update relaible like you said yesterday?03:08
micahgRoxyhart0: if it works, then I can see about pushing it through normal update channels, I don't know if this wil fix your issue, so I can't propose it...03:09
micahgI can push to a PPA for you to test with if you want03:10
micahgthis will be the only change03:10
Roxyhart0ah ok03:10
micahgRoxyhart0: i386 or amd64?03:15
micahgnm, they're all going :)03:16
Roxyhart0i have both03:16
micahgRoxyhart0: should be ready in about a half hour03:16
Roxyhart0thanks a lot!!!03:17
micahgRoxyhart0: remember, this is a test, so I would do it off hours :)03:17
Roxyhart0i am not using samba at the moment ...i think is whould not broke my slapd configuration?03:20
Roxyhart0shouln't i mean03:20
* micahg doesn't know...that's the problem :)03:21
micahgthe patch is 5 lines: https://bugzilla.samba.org/attachment.cgi?id=4667&action=edit03:21
micahghttps://bugzilla.samba.org/attachment.cgi?id=466703:21
Roxyhart0sorry what it means? the solution or i need to wait for the half hour that you say?03:25
micahgRoxyhart0: the package will be ready in about 15 minutes03:40
Roxyhart0thanks a lot03:40
PRabI just read https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/Importance and am now trying to decide what to assign to https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ubiquity/+bug/52242503:47
ubot4Launchpad bug 522425 in ubiquity (Ubuntu) "Install crashes after choosing custom partitions. (affects: 1)" [Undecided,New]03:47
PRabdoes high make sense because "Makes a default Ubuntu installation generally unusable for some users"03:48
micahgRoxyhart0: the package is in my PPA: https://launchpad.net/~micahg/+archive/patch-test04:34

micahgnigelb: great :)04:41
nigelbyeah, its busy days04:42
nigelbrelease time is getting closer04:42
Roxyhart0micahg, so what i nee is copy this two lijnes in one file and then do apt-get update ?04:42
micahgRoxyhart0: on karmic you can use sudo add-apt-repository04:43
Roxyhart0ok, sorry abot thw qautions but i forgot whow is cal the file where i need to add this lines ...:S04:44
Roxyhart0how is called04:44
micahgRoxyhart0: you can just do sudo add-apt-repository ppa:micahg/patch-test04:45
Roxyhart0sorry the splelling im sleeping04:45
Roxyhart0thanks04:45
micahgRoxyhart0: it'll add a file to /etc/apt/sources.list.d/ that you can either edit or delete when you're doen testing04:46
Roxyhart0okis04:47
Roxyhart0ok, i just did the command that you say, so i should just restart samba?04:52
micahgRoxyhart0: no, that just adds the ppa04:52
micahgyou need to upgrade samba to the package in my ppa04:52
micahgRoxyhart0: make sure you don't grab my phpmyadmin version :)04:53
Roxyhart0sorry micahg but it is the first time that in do it. Is just see you file, what i need to do now?04:56
micahgRoxyhart0: apt-get update04:56

micahgI was just warning not to grab phpmyadmin as that's teh prerelease version04:59
=== locobot_2_2 is now known as locobot_2
Roxyhart0ok, it is done05:03
Roxyhart0so just restart samba :S05:04
Roxyhart0?05:04
Roxyhart0what about phpldaoadmin i am using that ...05:04
micahgRoxyhart0: I don't have that packaged in tehre, so not to worry05:10
micahgRoxyhart0: doesn't the install restart it?05:11
Roxyhart0no apparently05:11
micahgRoxyhart0: I guess so05:11
Roxyhart0:( i just restart samba and i did again net rpc join -Uuser%pass and i got the same problem :(05:14
Roxyhart0do i nee reboot the server?05:15
micahgRoxyhart0: yeah, so it's probably not that fix05:15
micahgRoxyhart0: I would downgrade the package to be safe then05:16
micahgand get rid of my ppa in /etc/apt/sources.list.d/05:16
Roxyhart0what do you mean take off the package?05:16
micahgRoxyhart0: I suggest asking in #ubuntu-server tomorrow and show them the changelog for 3.4.1 and see if they know which bug it is05:17
micahgRoxyhart0: install the karmic version of samba05:17
Roxyhart0i did they dont say nothing and i got 2 bosses ask my for that now05:17
linshineanyone using karmic, update-motd?05:20
micahgRoxyhart0: I might be able the latest samba to my PPA05:22
micahgno, I can't do that easily05:25
micahgRoxyhart0: I'll ask on the ML to see if there are any samba people in bugsquad05:28
micahgRoxyhart0: posted05:32
micahgRoxyhart0: I wish I could do more, but I have to work on some other stuff05:33
micahgRoxyhart0: I'll let you know if someone replies to the request or hopefully, you'll see updates in teh bug :)05:33
Roxyhart0im big troubles now05:50
micahgRoxyhart0: why?05:52
Roxyhart0my boss are in my office05:53
micahgand they want it fixed?05:54
Roxyhart0yes05:59
Roxyhart0because the old server crush...and i am configurating this new server but the rest of the server that was file filver can not connect to this one which is PdC so every services is down06:00
micahgRoxyhart0: oh, that's bad, I didn't know it was that serious06:01
micahgI would've sent the mail yesterday06:01
Roxyhart0i mean i got domain member server and clients that cant not see file serves at all06:01
Roxyhart0and print server06:01
Roxyhart0because i didnt know that was a bug06:02
Roxyhart0and i was asking and asking differents forums and googling it06:03
micahgRoxyhart0: I can only backport up to 3.4.3 easily, but there are security concerns as well06:04
Roxyhart0like what?06:07
micahgthere have been several vulnerabilities found and patched since that release06:08
Roxyhart0uff06:09
kklimondaI'd say if it is that urgent you could build the current samba package from lucid and give it a go06:13
micahgkklimonda: source format 3 :(06:14
kklimondaargh06:14
Roxyhart0what i can do?06:14
kklimondaRoxyhart0: you'll probably have to build samba from source if no one steps in06:18
kklimondaRoxyhart0: you couldn't get no one from #ubuntu-server to take a look at it?06:19
Roxyhart0micahg what do you recomend i can do?06:23
micahgRoxyhart0: I can try to build 3.4.3 for you with the security patches until we can figure out what the issue is...06:24
micahgRoxyhart0: is anyone using the system now?06:24
Roxyhart0just ldap which is in the same machine06:25
Roxyhart0if it doesn broke ldap I can try06:25
micahgso, we can test a version to see if it works without worrying?06:25
Roxyhart0yes06:25
Roxyhart0samba is not working so we can try06:25
Roxyhart0but is it doesn ruin ldap06:26
micahgidk, that's the problem06:26
Roxyhart0if i cant do wbinfo -u is it because i cant join my PDC to the domain?06:27
micahgidk, I wish I had answers06:27
* micahg normally works on firefox bugs06:27
Roxyhart0can i install a samba PDC in a machine different to the LDAP server?06:28
micahgyou can try asking in #ubuntu-server, idk06:28
kklimondaRoxyhart0: yes06:28
kklimondasamba doesn't really care where ldap server is as long as it's configured correctly06:29
Roxyhart08micahg can you or sombody work in my bug?06:45
micahgRoxyhart08: if someone gives me a patch, I'm happy to make a package, alternatively, I can try to build a later version for you, but I can't do it right now...I need to finish up some work06:46

RoadRunnRhi, i need a bit of help and review of a very strange bug: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/bash/+bug/45333011:45
ubot4Launchpad bug 453330 in bash (Ubuntu) "[Karmic] pipes are somewhat brocken (affects: 1)" [Medium,Incomplete]11:45
RoadRunnRit's filed under bash, but it really could be almost anything kernel, libc, gzip, tar or bash...11:46
kamusin:)12:07
=== ryanakca_ is now known as ryanakca
radoeRoadRunnR: Does not seem to be a bash problem, happens with sh and ksh to. Also, it does not fail all the time, I have cases (on the same system) where it works.12:37
RoadRunnRradoe: the problem seems a bit random, once it has happened on one of my systems, it continues to occur until i reboot the box, then sometimes it will be ok and sometimes it still happens12:41
radoeRoadRunnR: I have some "cycles" when I run it from the same shell: it starts working a few times, then fails a few times, works again, fails again and so on. But i can't see a common pattern whether it fails or works.12:48
RoadRunnRradoe: if run some more tries, in about 5% of the cases it works for me, but only one time, followed by 10 to 20 non working runs12:49
RoadRunnRradoe: i used the simplified case: tar tvzf - < data.tar.gz ; echo $?12:51
RoadRunnRradoe: from my nonworking tracing, it seems that gzip tries to write to the pipe to tar, but can't deliver all the data, but tar decides is has gotten everything from gzip and terminates, at this point the pipe between tar and gzip is broken and a SIGPIPE error occurs13:06
RoadRunnRif the working case, gzip is able to deliver all data to tar in one go and exits before tar tries to exit, so the pipe is properly closed and everything is fine13:07
radoeRoadRunnR: looks a little bit like http://bugs.debian.org/53335613:07
RoadRunnRthis would point to a problem with how tar is handling the pipe13:07
radoeRoadRunnR: and yes, I see the same SIGPIPE throwing up to the shell in the nonworking cases.13:08
radoeRoadRunnR: I will reassign this bug to tar, link the debian bug report and adjust the subject?13:11
RoadRunnRradoe: or more like this: http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=53257013:11
ubot4Debian bug 532570 in tar "tar - relies on standard SIGPIPE behaviour" [Grave,Fixed]13:11

hggdhbdmurray: what do you think should be done for bug 523327?20:22
ubot4Launchpad bug 523327 in bughugger (Ubuntu) "bughugger crashed with AttributeError in __init__() (affects: 1)" [Undecided,New] https://launchpad.net/bugs/52332720:22
bdmurrayhggdh: so the httplib2 bug is not fixed in 0.6.0 or at least that patch is not in it20:49
bdmurrayhggdh: additionally I think (2) should be a couchdb bug report20:49
hggdhbdmurray: yes, I agree, but I do not know enough about bughugger & couchdb to be sure. I will split them20:58

hggdhmicahg: how to debug fairefox 3.6 failure to start?22:14
micahghggdh: try a new profile22:15
micahghggdh: or try safe mode22:15
hggdhtrying profilemanager now22:15
hggdhyes, bad profile22:17
hggdhis there any way of recovering part of the profile?22:17
micahghggdh: you can try --safe-mode22:17
hggdhwill do22:17
hggdhyay, safe-mode works. So now to pinpoint the issue...22:18
micahghggdh: it's an addon then22:18
hggdhsounds like22:18
hggdhoops -- safe-mode defaulted to the new profile22:18
micahgheh22:18
micahgrun profile manager and tell it to ask every time22:19

hggdhmicahg: interwsting -- (1) run firefox --safe-mode, do nothing & close; run firefox -- it runs, do nothing & close; (3) run firefox again -- it fails22:29
micahghggdh: it might not have closed22:29
seb128hggdh, uninstall greasemonkey22:30
micahgoh, right. that's that ug22:30
micahg*bug\22:30
hggdhoh22:30
hggdhwill try it now22:30
hggdhno, not greasmonkey22:33
micahgthen the greasemonkey bug might not be greasemonkey, but soemthing else..22:34
seb128uninstalling the xul...greasemonkey package worked for several users22:34
seb128it worked there22:34
seb128it might not be specific to greasemonkey though22:34
hggdhstill trying, and reducing my add-ons drastically ;-)22:35
micahgseb128: can you tell me if bug 452938 is the same as bug 410407?22:35
ubot4Launchpad bug 452938 in gtk+2.0 (Ubuntu) (and 1 other project) "Left mouse button click in (java|flash) does not work. (affects: 18)" [Low,Triaged] https://launchpad.net/bugs/45293822:35
ubot4Launchpad bug 410407 in flashplugin-nonfree (Debian) (and 8 other projects) "Clicking on items in Flash player does nothing [READ DESCRIPTION] (affects: 636) (dups: 39)" [Unknown,Unknown] https://launchpad.net/bugs/41040722:35
seb128it seems similar22:35
micahgseb128: is it worth merging, or should I just subscribe to upstream gnome?22:37
hggdhafter I removed the prism* packages, it seems to be working now22:38
micahghggdh: yeah, prism from archive isn't compatible with 3.622:38
hggdhyes, but it should not fail firefox22:39
micahghggdh: well, idk what code is in there, it might22:39
hggdhthere is that, yes22:39
micahgI'll be updating to beta 3 soon22:39
hggdhadding GM back now, and testing22:39
hggdhyes, seems to be working. Interesting that prism had been there for a while22:40
hggdhah well. Go figure. At least I was able to save my profile :-)22:42
seb128micahg, no real opinion22:42
seb128you can merge the bugs I guess22:42
micahgseb128: which way?22:43
seb128micahg, whatever is easier22:43
seb128or keep the one with the better comments open22:43
micahgseb128: k, thanks22:43
Roxyhart0Goog Morning micahg any news?23:40
Roxyhart0good23:40
micahgRoxyhart0: I was going to ask you the same thing...seems like you got some answers last night23:42
micahgunfortunately, no one responded on the ml23:42
micahghggdh: you know anything about samba?23:43
Roxyhart0nah, i just wanted to update to 3.4.523:43
Roxyhart0i just download the package but i dont know how install it23:43
hggdhmicahg: not yet, not much (don't have that many Windows to work with)23:43
hggdhml...  let me have a look23:43
micahghggdh: bugsquad23:44
micahgRoxyhart0: the checkinstall package can make a deb for you I think23:44
hggdhgo tiy23:44
hggdhgot it23:44
hggdhmicahg: there are two fixes that *might* be related to the bug23:47
hggdh6650 and 664623:48
hggdhthis seems to be the issue -- authentication fails23:48
micahgRoxyhart0: By the way, an update was pushed to karmic-proposed today with some fixes23:48
Roxyhart0ok, i will try23:49
Roxyhart0that first23:49
micahgwell, the patch for 6650 is small23:50
micahghggdh: can you see if this matches the bug desc: https://bugzilla.samba.org/attachment.cgi?id=458223:52
Roxyhart0no still the same problem!!!23:54
Roxyhart0i am wondering if i am the only person that have this problem or is something else, my samba is working and validating users and group the only problem is i cant join machines to the domain, even the PDC23:55
hggdhmicahg: it might -- the patch resolves an user authentication failure. Per the bug, the OP is trying to join the domain. The auth failure might be due to user auth23:55
micahgRoxyhart0: well, I can try to add teh patch hggdh suggested to see if it fixes it23:56
Roxyhart0please...23:56
hggdhnote that this all depends on having winbind running or not23:56
Roxyhart0yes is running23:56
micahgwell, than 6650 won't fix it as that's for when winbind isnt' running23:57
hggdhthen this is not it23:57
Roxyhart0??23:57
hggdhnext bug is more cryptic, I need to read more23:58
micahghggdh: maybe you can take over trying to help with this bug, I have a few things to finish this evening23:59
hggdhwill do23:59
micahghggdh: if you find a patch, I'm happy to throw an update together23:59
micahghggdh: thanks :)23:59
hggdhwelcome23:59
Roxyhart0for that problem?23:59
Roxyhart0my bug?23:59
