bcgrownHas anyone managed to get ladspa plugins working on 9.10?01:55
bcgrownhttp://www.pastebin.org/98209  <-- this is my .asoundrc.  I did "sudo /etc/init.d/alsa-utils restart"  and changed the audio device in MythFrontend to "ALSA:ladamp" but there was no output01:59
Zinn[www.pastebin.org] www private pastebin - collaborative debugging tool01:59
bcgrownIt works fine through ALSA:default,  but the volume for TV is too low hence the need for the ladspa amplifier plugin02:00

TheSHAD0WI has a suggestion!02:38
TheSHAD0WPut up a shopping page on mythbuntu.org showing each of the tuner cards currently supported, along with Amazon affiliate links.02:39
TheSHAD0WAffiliate income can go to support the project.02:40
TheSHAD0WI think it'd be more interesting and convenient for people who want to set up DVRs.02:48

rhpot1991TheSHAD0W: thats a lot of constantly changing information to keep track of04:52
rhpot1991what we have is this page: http://mythbuntu.org/developer-hardware04:53
rhpot1991so you can see what we use and what we test with, and all of that should work very well04:53
rhpot1991if you want something else, check the mythtv wiki, or ubuntu forums, or mythtv mailing list04:53
boneliferI'm booting with my 17" CRT for install. It's running off the screen. Any thing I can do?05:53
wertwert1984hi my mythtv wont start, my OS is mythubuntu 9.10 i'm using a huppaurge nova-s and i have pulseAudio installed and alsa installed17:30
wertwert1984this is my mythtv log from the log grabber: http://mythbuntu.pastebin.com/ACtFDyTY17:31
wertwert1984mythtv backend setup nore the frontend will start17:32
wertwert1984will not start*****17:37
mrandwertwert1984: strange.  That is the error that people were getting on 10.04, but I wonder if superm1 was aware it is/was a problem with 9.10 as well  https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/52371617:37
Zinn[bugs.launchpad.net] Bug #523716 in pulseaudio (Ubuntu): “pulseaudio version defined as UNKNOWN, which breaks everything with build-dep on libpulse-dev”17:37
wertwert1984on ok that may be it then as i am using all the latest from the ubuntu reposatorys and the mythtv ones17:39
wertwert1984how can i fix it17:40
mrandwertwert1984: and stay on 0.23?  I'm not sure.  0.23 builds are broken right now.   I hate to say it, but the path of least resistance today might be to drop your current database, restore 0.22 database, and run 0.22 until 0.23 can be fixed (hopefully in a few days).17:45
innatechSo, got my HVR-1600 working on the backend in mplayer, but the remote frontend crashes or displays a blank screen when I try switch to that input on liveTV. Can anyone point me in the right direction? I'm on 9.10 .17:46
wertwert1984oh ok how do i do that please?17:46
superm1should have been fixed by now17:47
superm1mrand,17:47
superm1what build are you on wertwert1984 ?17:48
superm123095 it looks?  you should update to the current daily builds17:48
wertwert1984sorry how do i find that out?17:49
superm1that's very old17:49
superm1apt-cache policy mythtv-backend17:49
wertwert1984http://mythbuntu.pastebin.com/sTR9KZfA17:50
superm1okay so you are on the latest..17:50
wertwert1984ok so do i need to step back?17:51
superm1well it's possible you've encountered a bug17:51
superm1did your /etc/init/mythtv-backend.conf get updated?17:51
superm1what's that look like right now?17:51
mrandI actually meant https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/524191 above17:52
Zinn[bugs.launchpad.net] Bug #524191 in mythtv (Ubuntu): “mythtv-frontend doesn't start when pulse audio is running”17:52
superm1well is that the issue?17:53
superm1i thought it was that the backend won't start?17:53
superm1those logs have very old data, so it's confusing17:54
superm1and they claim to be starting 23095, not 2356717:54
wertwert1984ok how do i clear the logs and make new ones17:55
wertwert1984and i can't start the backend setup17:55
superm1Okay if that's the only issue - then can you show us the terminal output when you try?17:56
superm1those other logs are irrelevant in that case17:56
mrandwertwert1984: can you also do apt-cache policy mythtv-frontend17:56
wertwert1984http://mythbuntu.pastebin.com/2zWDB6zs17:57
superm1okay so that's the new one; good17:58
wertwert1984thats the /etc/init/mythtv-backend.conf17:58
superm1and do you have an /etc/default/mythtv-backend ?17:58
wertwert1984http://mythbuntu.pastebin.com/f2jmwzKW17:58
wertwert1984and thats apt-cache policy mythtv-frontend17:58
wertwert1984no i don't superm117:59
superm1Ok that's good too; you're not supposed to with the upgrade unless you previously modified it18:00
superm1so lets see terminal output for mythtv-setup's launch, maybe there's a hint at why it's failing18:00
wertwert1984ok 1 sec18:01
wertwert1984how do i do that please?18:03
superm1Oh, i suppose mythtv-setup still opens it's own terminal window, doesn't it.18:04
wertwert1984no18:04
superm1well then you should just be able to run it from a terminal window yourself18:04
superm1and the output would be output into that terminal after the application is launched18:04
wertwert1984i have a terminal open to use18:04
superm1so type "mythtv-setup" and see if it starts outputting there18:05
superm1if it doesn't, then try alt tabbing to find the window it's outputting to18:05
wertwert1984yes i do but i forgot the command18:05
superm1"mythtv-setup"18:05
superm1that's all it is18:05
wertwert1984oh ok18:05
superm1once you find where it's outputting it's text, you just need to highlight it all and then middle click in a pastebin text box to paste it18:06
wertwert1984cameron@cameron-desktop:~$ mythtv-setup18:06
wertwert1984bash: /usr/bin/mythtv-setup: Permission denied18:06
wertwert1984and i try with sudo and i get this18:07
wertwert1984cameron@cameron-desktop:~$ sudo mythtv-setup18:07
wertwert1984sudo: mythtv-setup: command not found18:07
superm1oh there was a bug reporting this recently18:08
superm1to fix it temporarily; sudo chmod +x /usr/bin/mythtv-setup18:09
superm1Daviey, i think this is because you aren't using v3 packages on karmic18:09
superm1those files are executable w/ v318:10
wertwert1984ok it started18:10
mrandCould not using v3 package also be related to the pulse audio error message?18:10
superm1doubtful18:11
superm1but it's the same reason mythfrontend wouldn't start18:11
superm1mythfrontend is a shell script too18:11
wertwert1984oh ok18:11
wertwert1984this is mythfrontend output sorry i can't copy the backend one it's in a seperat termmanal and it's white18:19
wertwert1984http://mythbuntu.pastebin.com/FQ23QwW18:19
wertwert1984http://mythbuntu.pastebin.com/FQ23QwWh18:19
superm1mythfrontend looks fine now18:20
wertwert1984ok good thank you18:20
wertwert1984do u want the output from mythtv-backend and if so how do i gat it18:21
superm1i think you should be fine now18:23
superm1if you're still having troubles, then clear out your logs in /var/log/mythtv/ and do a fresh run of the log grabber18:23
wertwert1984this is the new log18:23
wertwert1984http://mythbuntu.pastebin.com/qb6vtax318:24
superm1well what's wrong?18:25
wertwert1984don't know yet i have no audio on tv looking in to it AMT18:30
wertwert1984don't know yet i have no audio on tv looking in to it Atm18:30
wertwert1984help i can't get any sound in mythtv i have pulse audio and alsa18:59
wertwert1984and mythbuntu 10 and mythtv the latest build19:01
superm1wertwert1984, if you're still having problems now post the fresh frontend log19:02
superm1now that you have the apps executable and whatn ot19:02
wertwert1984ok19:02
wertwert1984http://mythbuntu.pastebin.com/Q5iHy36N19:04
wertwert1984there you go all cleaned out19:04
wertwert1984why is my onboard audio device see as a use device? it's in the log under lsusb?19:11
superm1wertwert1984, you've just gotta change your settings19:12
superm1in settings->general19:12
wertwert1984in mythtv or5 ubuntu?19:14
superm1are you on ubuntu or mythbuntu?19:14
superm1if you're on ubuntu, then you need to set it to use pulseaudio in that page and then set the settings in ubuntu19:14
superm1if you're on mythbuntu, you need to set the settings in mythtv to use the alsa device you want19:14
wertwert1984ok but all that i can choose from in the mythtv settings is alsa, software, pcm, pcm119:18
superm1so pick the appropriate one that you need to use19:19
wertwert1984sorry was looking at the wrong section19:20
wertwert1984how do i test if alsa is working?19:22
superm1you can use a tool like aplay19:23
superm1and test files in /usr/share/alsa19:23
wertwert1984cause i have alot of choice in mythtv settings19:23
wertwert1984do i need both puseaudio and alsa for aslsa19:28
wertwert1984alsa to work19:29
wertwert1984?19:29
superm1you only need pulseaudio if you are using on standard ubuntu, not mythbuntu install19:32
wertwert1984i have mythbuntu19:34
superm1then you dont need pulseaudio19:34
wertwert1984but is it perinstall on mythbuntu?19:34
wertwert1984be back soon i out for launch19:39
