[03:45] is the generic ubuntu kernel compiled with this option: CONFIG_VIDEO_V4L1_COMPAT === sconklin is now known as sconklin-gone [04:29] bjsnider: ya [04:29] bjsnider: grep CONFIG_VIDEO_V4L1_COMPAT /boot/* [04:37] well oh my goodness that's funny [04:38] piece of garbage software corked off during make because of missing symbols that sound like they're part of that [04:41] bjsnider: I'd love to help you more but I'm fighting me own kernel issues - trying to move my custom kernel from karmic to lucid :( [05:17] Anybody able to help me figure out what's causing this error? [05:17] http://paste.ubuntu.com/390093/ [08:42] bug 533690 is mine in case anyone needs to ask questions [08:42] Malone bug 533690 in linux "ASUS G60J keyboard backlight brightness hotkeys don't work" [Undecided,New] https://launchpad.net/bugs/533690 === Hedge|Hog is now known as Hedgehog === Hedgehog is now known as Guest38152 === hypera1r is now known as hyperair [18:15] what's the proper method to add a patch to the kernel source and increment the version for a PPA? patching and changing the version in debian/changelog to say 2.6.32-15.22+bugx or 2.6.32-15.23~bugx doesn't build the package right [18:15] * Sarvatt has always used make-kpkg and hasn't wrapped his head around the ubuntu kernel build system [18:16] this guy needs a kernel patch i've attached to the bug to see if it fixes his bad acpi lid status problem - https://bugs.edge.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/507196 [18:16] Malone bug 507196 in linux "[i945gme] Ubuntu falls back on vesa driver (no screens)" [High,Confirmed] [18:24] Sarvatt: git-request-pull(1) [18:25] Sarvatt: (and yes, working with git directly is preferable to debdiffs against source packages) [18:28] i attached git formatted patches on that bug and didn't request a pull because I need him to verify that they even work first, ubuntu-lucid.git didnt have a debian/ though so I wasnt sure how I would generate that properly [18:31] err, what? [18:31] there's very clearly a debian/ in ubuntu-lucid.git [18:33] ah sorry it was that there was no debian/changelog [18:35] see debian/rules.d/1-maintainer.mk [18:36] thanks crimsun, that helps alot [18:39] yw === sconklin-gone is now known as sconklin === Guest38152 is now known as Hedgehog === Hedgehog is now known as Guest21439 [19:47] I just bumped myself up to 10.04. I'm tryingto use the same .config I was using before. I just ran make oldconfig and accepted all the defaults. I get this error during compile and I don't know how to fix it. Any smart people tips? http://paste.ubuntu.com/390093/ [19:59] might want to take the lucid .config as a base and customize it again since alot of things have changed since the karmic one (and dont expect most staging stuff from upstream linux-2.6 to compile right now) [21:11] Sarvatt: alrighty. I just didn't want to recreate it because I spent > 200 hours getting this one :P [21:11] Sarvatt: thanks
