crimsundoes anyone recognize the pattern surrounding bug 534135?03:44
ubot4Launchpad bug 534135 in alsa-lib (Ubuntu) "package libasound2 1.0.22-0ubuntu6 failed to install/upgrade: errore nello scrivere su "<standard output>": Riuscito (affects: 1)" [Undecided,New] https://launchpad.net/bugs/53413503:45
crimsunmy hunch is that it's caused by something in the OR's install [but not libasound2 itself]03:45

stdoutsI've got openjdk-jdk installed but when I apt-get ant it wants to load gcj12:10
stdoutsis this normal?12:11
=== BUGabundo_remote is now known as BUGabundo_lunch
stdoutsI tried installing default-jre-headless but ant still wants to use gcj even though I've got openjdk installed12:34
stdoutssorry for the inconvenience --no-install-recommends did the trick12:45
duanedesignkermiac_: i was able to talk with some Ubuntu One devs this morning about the DBus Error12:49
duanedesignkermiac_: he confirmed that the presence of that error is not indicating the problem with sync.Only the user has a lot of files and syncdaemon startup is taking some time.12:52

Laibschlooking for somebody to confirm https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/firefox/+bug/53437913:36
ubot4Launchpad bug 534379 in firefox (Ubuntu) "firefox should provide gnome-www-browser (affects: 1)" [Undecided,New]13:36
LaibschI wonder if that isn't even a pretty high prio bug.13:36
persiaUm, why?13:36
persiaIt provides www-browser.13:37
persiaAnd gnome-www-browser has no rdepends.13:37
persia(which makes, to my reading, providing gnome-www-browser unimportant)13:38
vishoooohhh , persia commented on a papercut bug ;)13:40
vishpersia: you follow #U-bug-announce?13:41
persiaOnly rarely.13:41
persiaI used to follow it a lot, but haven't had enough time the past while.13:42
vishah , was wondering how you found that bug :)13:42
* persia has lots of tricks13:42
vishpersia == merlin ;p13:42
Laibschpersia: this is about u-a not package dependencies14:15
Laibschmicahg: thanks14:16
LaibschI kind of felt like I had seen that bug before (turns out I alreay reported it), but LP search did not return it for some reason14:16
persiaWhat calls gnome-www-browser?14:16
micahgLaibsch: because it was in the other firefox source packages14:17
Laibschpersia: xfce4-terminal may14:21
Laibschfor links14:21
Laibschyes, xfce4-terminal apparently calls gnome-www-browser14:22
persiaLaibsch: I think that's a bug: it ought be using sensible-browser14:22
Laibschprobably14:22
persiaAlternately x-www-browser14:23
Laibschhm, seems like it's not even configurable14:23
persiaBut an xfce tool calling gnome-www-browser is certainly less than ideal.14:23
Laibschwell, it could always be me configuring something wrong14:23
LaibschI've used this machine for a long time now14:23
Laibschand I've had my bouts with it's config14:24
persiaDouble-check in a VM, but it ought be trivial to s/gnome-www-browser/x-www-browser/ in the xfce4-terminal source.14:24
bcurtiswxseb128: bug #532799 what do you mean by "quite some log to display"?14:29
ubot4Launchpad bug 532799 in empathy (Ubuntu) "the first chan window takes 5 seconds to appear (affects: 1)" [Low,Incomplete] https://launchpad.net/bugs/53279914:29
seb128bcurtiswx, well when you open a chat dialog you get the history of previous conversations14:29
seb128I'm wondering if that depends on how much bubbles there is to display14:30
seb128it's bound to be slower if there is a thousand of those14:30
seb128rather than none14:30
bcurtiswxseb128: ah, i was more under the impression that this was an -idle issue14:30
seb128oh could be14:30
seb128I went through hundred of bug emails today14:30
seb128and did commented quickly on quite some14:31
seb128feel free to ignore my comment it was just a suggestion14:31
bcurtiswxseb128: yeah, but that one had a difference between title and description (title said chan and desc said chat).. i'll get a clerification from OP14:31
seb128ok thanks14:32
bcurtiswxseb128: thanks :D14:32
seb128np14:32
bcurtiswxeek.  om26er assigned ken vandine to bug #531835, not sure if he wanted that14:44
ubot4Launchpad bug 531835 in empathy (Ubuntu) (and 1 other project) "Fonts are very small (affects: 1)" [Low,Triaged] https://launchpad.net/bugs/53183514:44
vishhmm.. :s15:13
vishbcurtiswx: hehe, just today i was thinking om26er was getting better ;)15:14
bcurtiswxvish: im leaving it just to om26er can feel the wrath of ken15:14
bcurtiswx*end star trek reference*15:15
duanedesignOn the 5-a-day, is that a day in GMT time?15:19
winemanhas anyone heard of ubuntu starting to load then it pops up a black screen with white writing and asks for you to login and password.  Next it pauses for about a minute before continuing to load?15:19
charlie-tcasure15:21
charlie-tcaI have seen that several times15:22
winemanhow so you fix it to not do that?15:22
charlie-tcaThen you get a gdm login screen?15:22
winemanno it is a tty115:22
charlie-tcaI don't know how to fix it. Usually it resolves itself after running updates a couple of times and restarting a couple of times15:22
winemanno luck here15:23
vishduanedesign: yes15:23
winemanevery once in a while when i turn it on it scans files for a while, when it does that it takes long enough i don't have to log in it starts fine just takes a long time15:24
charlie-tcaYou might want to ask about it in #ubuntu , which is the support channel15:26
winemanok15:27
mr_pouitLaibsch: persia: I'm not sure this is a problem in the xfce4-terminal source. It probably only uses gtk to open links...15:28
micahgI was going to ask if xdg-open is more appropriate...15:29
om26erif a bug(wishlist) is fixed upstream but will come in the next development series it should be left triaged?16:22
micahgom26er: yes16:24
om26erok16:25
BUGabundo_remotefixavailable ?16:27
micahgBUGabundo_remote: no such status16:28
micahgom26er: actually depends on the team16:28
micahgfor desktop team, Fix Committed, otherwise Triaged16:28
BUGabundo_remotetrue16:28
om26ermicahg: assign to desktop team and mark fix committed?16:29
om26eror they should16:30
micahgom26er: idk about assigning...16:30

plarscrimsun: my board with that audio problem we spoke about before is still down, but I have another ARM board with a similar, but almost opposite problem20:42
plarscrimsun: in this case, 44100Hz files play (with paplay), but 48000Hz files do not (just the opposite of the other bug) and anything I try to play with aplay just comes out static20:43
plarscrimsun: any suggestion for a likely place to file this against?20:43
crashsystemsI'm having an interesting audio issue. When "connector" on the output tab of sound preferences is set to analog output, I get no audio in my laptop speakers. I do get audio when I set it to analog speakers. No matter what I set it to, I'll get audio through headphones when I plug them in. Is anyone aware of a bug already reporting matching this description?21:14
