[07:32] <persia> ScottL: The main reason to download the source with e.g. `apt-get --download-only source ${PACKAGE}` is to make sure you have the correct original tarball artifact.  The order between this and bzr branch matters not at all.  Some work has been done to use pristine-tar to make this no longer required : I'm not sure of the current status of that work.
