mrandIs  $LANG  an acceptable (and expected to be future supported) way to support locales?  This is in reference to this potential patch for MythTV: http://launchpadlibrarian.net/41297489/mythtv-backend.conf.diff  If not, what is the recommended way?19:50
JanCmrand: that patch looks weird20:52
mrandJanC: I'm not sure that the person doing it understands upstart, and I'm "just" a triager.20:53
mrandHence the ping here.20:53
JanCe.g. LANG=$LANG is basically assigning the value of LANG to LANG?20:54
mrandJanC: I believe that is a shell trick for making sure that it gets passed on to the called application?20:55
JanCI think you better ask in #ubuntu-devel (as this is Ubuntu-specific), but in my opinion LANG=$LANG is useless, and LC_ALL=$LANG might be wrong (there is a reason why there is both LANG &  LC_*) but there *might* be a reason for that (in which case the reason should be given--I have no idea what this patch tries to fix)21:04
mrandJanC: oops.... sorry, here is the bug: https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/54104221:05
