tick-tockwhat is the current status of the ubuntu installer and UEFI?08:38
tick-tockdoes the installer correctly handle and set up the boot/efi partition in non-mac UEFI machines (like HP elitebooks)?08:38
xivulonev ^^10:15
evxivulon: replied10:15
evsuperm1: thanks for the fixes10:21
xivulonhmm I've asked people to use the latest exe, it seems strange they still end up with an old ISO, is there a way to check the ISO build from the logs?10:46
xivulonalso not sure why there is no failure-command.sh10:47
xivulondavmor2 can you please have a go at testing?11:46
davmor2xivulon: I can try and get some in today I need to do a couple of thins first.  Am I testing anything in particular or just wubi in general?11:50
xivulondavmor2 see http://ubuntuforums.org/showpost.php?p=9037049&postcount=12, it should be fixed, but there were multiple reports11:53
davmor2xivulon: yeah I'll have a look might not be till after lunch though11:58
cjwatsonhmm, psusi's parted patch breaks normal automatic partitioning12:41
* cjwatson digs12:41

CIA-3base-installer: cjwatson * r397 ubuntu/ (debian/changelog library.sh): Handle armel metapackages in ordering hack (imx51, dove, and omap).14:54
davmor2xivulon: no installer icon here15:06
xivulondavmor2, does the installation complete as expected?15:12
davmor2xivulon: Yes15:13
CIA-3ubiquity-slideshow-ubuntu: evand * r254 ubiquity-slideshow-ubuntu/ (4 files in 3 dirs):15:15
CIA-3ubiquity-slideshow-ubuntu: Reduce the slideshow by 49px from the top of the window, so that it fits15:15
CIA-3ubiquity-slideshow-ubuntu: better on netbook (1024x600) screens.15:15
davmor2ev: Like the new slides by the way very nice15:16
evdavmor2: that's mostly michaelforrest and Dylan McCall.  I'm just the middleman :)15:17
evthanks though15:17
davmor2ev: Oh well pass it on, Nice!15:18
evwill do!15:18
CIA-3ubiquity: evand * r4006 ubiquity/ (debian/changelog ubiquity/frontend/gtk_ui.py):15:19

CIA-3ubiquity: evand * r4008 ubiquity/ (debian/changelog gui/gtk/install_window.ui):16:20
CIA-3ubiquity: * Give the installer window a slightly larger bottom edge to make the16:20
CIA-3ubiquity:  grey border look less ugly.16:20
CIA-3ubiquity: * Connect the new installer window's skip button to the appropriate16:20
CIA-3ubiquity:  function.16:20
CIA-3ubiquity: * Slighly tweak the layout so the progress widgets are more centered16:20
CIA-3ubiquity:  in their frame.16:20
ev^ that doesn't quit fit on a 1024x600 GNOME session, but now the only thing cut off by the bottom panel is padding.16:21
superm1i wasn't sure exactly what to attribute it to, but the colors in the new installer window with only mode are different with running in gnome16:21
evyeah, I'm still trying to figure out why that's happening16:22
evI think we're actually missing something in ubiquity-dm16:22
evas even using get_style instead of rc_get_style results in the same inability to set the correct colors16:22
evbut yeah, I should really be fixing high priority bugs instead of UI nits16:23
evso back to that16:24
davmor2ev: is there a mac way to create a usb ubuntu stick yet or is that the next project?18:21

bipolarI'm trying to get a usable preseed file out of debconf-get-selections but it doesn't include the partitioning setup. Specifically I installed using full disk encryption and I'm trying to preseed it. there is no reference to partman in the output of debconf-get-selections even with the --installer option. Do I have to get that info somewhere else?20:41
cjwatsonbipolar: debconf-get-selections isn't really usable for preseeding the installer, sorry (we'd hoped it might be at one point, but it really isn't).  Use the installation guide instead.21:10
bipolarcjwatson: Unfortunately I havn't been able to find anything at all regarding preseeding full disk encryption in the installation guide. Google has not been very helpful either. :\21:15
bipolarI'm also worried that the lucid installer is in a bad state at the moment and maybe thats why it's failing. I'm going to try with 9.10.21:18
cjwatsonbipolar: I happen to have spent about half of today debugging encryption handling in lucid21:23
cjwatsonbipolar: are you by any chance running across bug 539324?21:24
ubottuLaunchpad bug 539324 in debian-installer "Setting up swap fails when setting lvm+encryption" [High,Confirmed] https://launchpad.net/bugs/53932421:24
CIA-3ubiquity-slideshow-ubuntu: evand * r255 ubiquity-slideshow-ubuntu/ (2 files in 2 dirs): New Ubuntu One icon.21:24
cjwatsonbipolar: it's in the installation guide, but only very tersely21:24
cjwatsonyou can either set:21:24
cjwatsond-i partman-auto/init_automatically_partition select some_device_crypto21:24
cjwatsonor:21:24
cjwatsond-i partman-auto/disk string /dev/sda21:24
cjwatsond-i partman-auto/method string crypto21:25
bipolarcjwatson: let me check that bug out.21:25
bipolarcjwatson: yes. I have seen that bug when I tried to install off of cd.21:25
bipolarcjwatson: I had to remove the swap partition manualy to get it to continue.21:25
bipolarI'm currently installing via PXE. the cd install was just to make sure it wasn't a problem with the daily packges.21:26
cjwatsonI think I've worked out the root problem, but only in about the last ten minutes21:26
bipolarcjwatson: I've tried those options in the past. I couldn't get the installer to get past a 'missing root partition' error. I thought I was doing something wrong.21:28
bipolarI'll try it again. Maybe the swap partition issue is related21:28
cjwatsoncertainly try with 9.10 rather than current lucid21:29
cjwatsonthough I hope to have this fixed in beta-221:30
bipolarok.21:30
bipolarI'll do that. thank you.21:30
cjwatsonif you get "No root file system" with 9.10, let me know and I can try to debug that21:30
bipolarmy pxe install uses an apt-cacher-ng repo. so as soon as a fixed package is out, I can use it.21:30
bipolarok21:31

bipolarpartman-crypto/passphrase perhaps21:35
cjwatsonthere's a bug about that, it's not preseedable, sorry21:36
cjwatsonI'm going to try to fix that for lucid though21:36
bipolarah. ok.21:36
bipolarfixing that would be awesome21:37
bipolargotta automate as much as possible for my helper monkeys21:37
bipolarlet me know if you need someone to test anything lucid related.21:37

ubottuLaunchpad bug 546405 in partman-crypto "Can't preseed encryption passphrase" [Medium,Triaged] https://launchpad.net/bugs/54640521:38
bipolarcjwatson: it seems to be working on 9.10. I guess I should have tried that a long time ago. :p21:38
cjwatsonheh, ok21:39
CIA-3partman-base: cjwatson * r200 ubuntu/ (debian/changelog parted_server.c): (log message trimmed)21:43
CIA-3partman-base: parted 2.1 changed the semantics of ped_disk_clobber: it now zeroes out21:43
CIA-3partman-base: the first few and last few sectors of the disk, regardless of whether21:43
CIA-3partman-base: there appears to be a valid partition table on it. Unfortunately, this21:43
CIA-3partman-base: means that creating a filesystem on a whole disk device and then calling21:43
CIA-3partman-base: ped_disk_commit_to_dev zeroes the filesystem header we just created. To21:43
CIA-3partman-base: avoid this, call ped_disk_commit_to_dev only if the partition doesn't21:43
CIA-3ubiquity: superm1 * r4009 ubiquity/ (debian/changelog scripts/install.py): Fix installation of zh_CN and zh_TW language packs.21:55
CIA-3partman-base: cjwatson * r201 ubuntu/debian/changelog: releasing version 139ubuntu321:58
bipolarcjwatson: ok. I just booted into 9.10 after installing. the encryption preseeding worked. Now I feel silly.22:04
cjwatsonthat's curious22:04
cjwatsonoh, you don't mean the encryption passphrase :)22:04
cjwatsonright22:04
bipolarcjwatson: right22:05
bipolarthe passphrase cannot currently be preseeded, as you said. but the preseeding of the partitioning works in 9.10.22:05
bipolarcjwatson: did you just push out a fix for the swap issue or was that something else?22:06
cjwatsonyes, I did22:06
cjwatsonit'll take a couple of hours to build and publish22:06
bipolarcjwatson: yeah. it's 5pm here anyway. I'll try it tomorrow and let you know :)22:07
cjwatsonthanks22:07
cjwatsonor attach it to a bug if that's appropriate22:21
