Here is the bug report https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/565172 I also tried to use noapic kernel command line option that seems solves the issue (apparently). Any suggestion about this would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

[14:02] <joaopinto> I don't have this problem with a VM which is using the server kernel

[23:38] <melkor> Also these distro dependant packages.  I can't seem to install because they are missing a file (2/3)  so do I have to use the file from a previous release?
[23:41] <melkor> ie the latest 2.6.34 rc4 installed okay today with only two files, but I already had a 2.6.34 rc 4 installed.
