=== doctormo_ is now known as doctormo [01:26] Hello everyone. [01:59] If I have an SVG wallpaper should I still make render for different resolutions? Both kde and gnome seem to handle svgs as wallpaper fine. === MacSlow is now known as MacSlow|lunch [11:49] mpt: http://blog.mozilla.com/faaborg/2010/04/22/dont-talk-about-users/ is about building ux principles into project infrastructure. specifically heuristic evaluation. i have been thinking along similar lines, recently. though i would want to start at the beginning, offering a service to manage design starting from a briefing/mission statement. === MacSlow|lunch is now known as MacSlow [14:44] hey folks, not sure who to ping, but I saw a thread on ayatana-list suggesting the adoption of Giver, and as the only person capable of making a Giver release I wanted to make sure you folks knew that it's pretty much a dead project [14:44] would be much more useful if it worked over telepathy instead [14:46] as for Tasque, adding a couchdb backend (if that were really necessary) should be easy, and in a few months mario intends to release a feature that lets you keep all of your tasks synchronized between multiple backends, so that would help [15:01] sandy|lurk: Will you make sure that Tasque saves the notes in a generic format that can be used by other task applications as well? That way it's very easy to reuse the data in other applications without having to use a dozen of exporters and importers. [15:02] qense: another thing that's yet to be done is actually caching tasks for offline use...the plan is to use a sqlite db for this [15:02] ok [15:02] anyway, I'm really not involved in tasque dev anymore [15:03] just wanted to make sure nobody wasted time on Giver :-) [15:06] sandy|lurk: OK, thank you for telling, I'll keep it in mind in case someone says (s)he will adopt it. [15:06] I'm subscribed to the list of adopted packages, so that should be no problem. [15:14] sandy|lurk, the zeroconfing telepathy transfer works awesome with empathy, it's just not obvious in the UI to people so I think they think they need something like giver to transfer files quickly [15:14] the time is probably better invested in fixing the discoverability in empathy [15:14] jcastro: totally agree with that [15:14] jcastro: also, hi! [15:15] heh [15:15] jcastro: can you not just drag-and-drop from nautilus onto a contact in empathy/ [15:15] ? [15:15] yep [15:15] you totally can [15:15] heh [15:15] no one knows that though [15:15] lol [15:15] plus we don't set up your zeroconf account by default, after you set up your gtalk or whatever we prompt you for the name [15:16] but it's some window with that crack bear-looking soul-staring icon [15:16] http://encyclopediadramatica.com/Pedobear ? [15:17] http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/3/3a/Avahi-logo.png [15:17] this one is worse! [15:17] hahahahahaha [15:17] oh my god [15:17] I have never seen that [15:17] it's the avahi logo [15:21] jcastro: Setting up the Bonjour/Salut/Zeroconf account would be a nice task for a possible welcome screen or introduction druid/wizard. [15:21] or just turn it on by default. [15:21] jcastro: By the way, you did notice that the fix for Banshee.AppIndicator landed today? [15:21] * jcastro doesn't say that too loud [15:21] qense, I am upgrading now! [15:21] good! [15:21] nice [15:22] this fixes it on my one computer [15:22] it worked on my laptop but not the other one for some reason [15:23] That can only be due to not having upgraded recently or due to a polluted installation. ;) [15:23] my main pc is always in various states of disrepair, heh [15:27] qense: did you fix the notify-osd lag already? [15:28] hyperair: I just pushed the fix. [15:28] really just a minute ago :) [15:28] qense: heh i saw the email =p [15:28] I was about to mark the bug as Fix Committed on Launchpad. [15:28] i got the bug watch added email [15:28] so i figured you might have done something [15:29] I reported the bug upstream so I could reference to it in the commit message. [15:29] bah [15:29] dude the xchat m-i plugin is definately crashing for me [15:29] qense: banshee's upstream changelogs also reference LP: # [15:29] jcastro: When clicking links also? I had that. [15:29] hyperair: how? [15:29] ah, LP: # [15:30] :D [15:31] guilt format-patch. this is what happens when you try to type git and quilt at the same time. =p [15:31] Freudian typo [15:31] heheh
