DrecondiusHello09:38
Drecondiusanybody here that can answer a question?09:38
mihai hope gnome/ubuntu will one day understand it's ugly to pack useless addon software in core package. i'd prefer thunderbird to evolution, but how to remove evolution without removign gnome. same for 2 obsolete mozilla derivates... if ubuntu had market share half of M$ you'd face huge trials for this :D10:33
jpdsmiha: You can't, evolution forms a central part of GNOME?10:35
mihawell IE makes central part of windows, but M$ was forced to offer choice.10:38
mihawindows update only works with IE10:39
mihastill users can remove IE :D10:39
mihajpds not that i care about wasting GB's.. just a thought10:40
jpdsmiha: I still think it's a GNOME uptream problem, not ours.10:43
joaopintomiha, I am not sure what you are refering to, you can safely remove evolution10:46
joaopintojpds, upstream are our problems too, it works on both directions10:46
jpdsI've just tried here, and it seems to only want to remove evolution-* packages.10:46
JanCmiha: you can easily remove evolution without removing all of gnome?10:51
mihacool. ok, what about emphaty and emphiphany (cant find that package) ?10:54
miha:D10:54
mihapidgin will go to, there's no match for amsn :D10:55

joaopintomy gnome theme randomly fails to apply on login, what log should I check and which package should I file the bug against ?16:24
desrtis anyone else experiencing indicator-applet growing to eat 10GB of memory?17:34
JanCjoaopinto: sounds like the gnome settings daemon doesn't load (correctly) or something18:47
joaopintoJanC, I have checked .xsessions-error and there was an error about gnome settings18:47
joaopintoI will file a bug on the next occurrence, the issue is not 100% reproducible, happened on 3/6 boots today18:48
ccheneyanyone know why lucid can't play back hdv format anymore?18:49
joaopintowhen the problem happens there are other gnome session startup apps which fail, like tomboy, reporting that tomboy dbus is not available18:49
* ccheney is working on tracking down when it broke18:49
JanCjoaopinto: it's related to programs in the session being started in parallel I think (which makes things faster, but sometimes causes weird issues like that)18:51
joaopintoJanC, do you know if there is a bug report about it ?18:51
JanCsome sort of race condition I suppose18:51
JanCI suppose there are many  ☺18:51
JanCbut no idea about a master bug or such18:51
joaopintoI have noted that gnome-do sometimes dos not start on the startup, I guess it might be related18:52
ccheneyit appears gstreamer0.10-plugins-ugly between 9.04 and 9.10 dropped support for HDV22:19
* ccheney checks to see if this is a regression from hardy-lucid22:22
ccheneyannoying in any case, i can't play my video camera video anymore, hadn't tried in a while since my move and it doesn't work anymore :-\22:23
ccheneyit looks like between 9.04 and 9.10 it actually started detecting what type of video it is, but then stopped playing it22:26
ccheneyyea worked in 8.04 also22:39
ccheneyso this appears to be a issue of better detection then refusal to play, and/or code was removed22:40
* ccheney checks 9.10 again closer to see if it did work there22:40
ccheneyprior to 9.10 it did not detect the video well enough so you had to manually install gstreamer0.10-plugins-ugly to play it, now it does detect it but says there is no codec to play it22:42
mdeslaurccheney: what progress :)22:44
ccheneymdeslaur: yea22:45
ccheneymdeslaur: looking at 9.10 closer to make sure the codec didn't maybe just move somewhere22:45
* ccheney looks in changelog also to see if it was purposely broken22:47
ccheneynothing in debian changelog at least22:48
ccheneyand no noticable bugs in debian or ubuntu about it22:49
ccheneywe just pull directly from debian apparently so i guess i should ping him to see22:52
ccheneyhmm actually it did work if i just cancel out of the screen that tells me i need another codec23:04
ccheneyvery weird23:04
ccheneyhmm now it doesn't play anymore, wtf23:06
ccheneyok I got it to play but it does tell me it doesn't have the codec to play and seems a little crashy, played fine on 9.04 and before without the claim of no codec23:07
ccheneyso it seems to be primarily it has no clue it already has the codec to play and complains for every file it attempts to play23:10
ccheneyif you ignore the complaint it then does work23:11
