HedgeMagehighvoltage: gah, I'm on my way to bed.  I'll catch you tomorrow night if I can -- otherwise Thursday after I get back from the dojo?07:52
highvoltageHedgeMage: heh, I just woke up07:54
highvoltageHedgeMage: I don't have your schedule open in front of me right now... what time to you get back from the dojo again? :p07:55
HedgeMagehighvoltage: usually about 5:30pm my time.  What are good hours for you?  My day tomorrow is kind of crazy, but Thurs-Fri are flexible07:56
highvoltageHedgeMage: I can do that07:56
HedgeMageare you sure?  I easily forget sometimes that you are so far away.  I don't want you to lose sleep over this little errand :)07:57
highvoltageHedgeMage: oh trust me I've stayed up for way less before :)08:02
highvoltageHedgeMage: and this is important to me right now08:02
HedgeMage:)08:04
HedgeMageOkay, then Thursday is a date, assuming we don't run into one another tomorrow and both have a free 20 minutes08:04
sbalneavMorning all16:17
sbalneavalkisg: Hey hey!16:26
sbalneavHow's things in Greece?  Tumultuous, I hear.16:26
ograheavily16:26
ograall european news stations have it the whole day already16:26
sbalneavogra: Yeah, I was listening to CBC this morning, sounds like the budget measures aren't going over well.16:27
ograheh, no wonder16:27
alkisgHi sbalneav, ogra, peoplee16:27
sbalneavI didn't hear what's the major sticking point, if any?16:27
alkisgThey already cut 200€ off our salaries, and that's not enough yet...16:28
ograyeah16:28
ogragerman news said something about "up to 40% cut in salaries"16:28
sbalneavIs it just one particular funding cut that's causing the problem, or just a general "too much too fast" problem.16:28
sbalneav40%!?!16:28
sbalneavYikes16:28
ograto pay for the waste the politicians did the last 10 years16:28
sbalneavWhat, politicians waste money?!16:29
ograobviously the money went into their own pockets and they gave wrong reports to the EU ...16:29
ograwhich got into that situation16:29
sbalneavSay it ain't so!16:29
ograand now the people have to pay for it16:29
sbalneavYeah, it's always the little guy that pays.16:29
ogramainly to support paris hiltons new boayfriend ;)16:29
* alkisg wonders if that's just it... I'm hearing about foreign powers trying to compromise the greek economy etc, but I don't know which parts are true16:29
* ogra hears something about 34 billion or something the greek state owes him16:30
alkisgSure, the politicians waste money, but that didn't just happen the last 10 years; it was always so16:30
alkisgHeh16:30
sbalneavalkisg: There's probably some of that going on.  "Big Business" will always profit in times of economic instability.16:30
sbalneavHey, a billion dollars here, a few trillion there, sooner or later it starts to add up to real money :)16:31
ograpennies, pfft16:31
sbalneavhttp://www.brainyquote.com/quotes/authors/e/everett_dirksen.html16:34
sbalneavOne of my favorite quotes16:34
mhall119asking about edubuntu in Ask Mark in #ubuntu-classroom16:40
mhall119well, not much from that16:42
sbalneavWhat did he say?17:00
sbalneavI just noticed, wasn't in the room?17:01
sbalneav:(17:01
mhall119sbalneav: just that Canonical is struggling to find out what they can do17:01
mhall119that hey want to be involved, especially on regional and national level17:02
mhall119basically what dinda has already told us17:02
mhall119he did say they might extend access to their build system to child distros, so I'm hoping to take advantage of that for Qimo17:06
* dinda missed it :(17:18
dindawill have to read the transcript later17:19
highvoltage * Edubuntu classroom session in about 40 minutes in #ubuntu-classroom17:19
* dinda contemplates having to buy food vs attending the next session. . .17:19
dindafood wins for now, sorry, bbl17:21

stgraberhighvoltage: ping18:49
bencrisfordstgraber: hes in the middle of the OW session atm :)18:50
alkisgstgraber: I can make an upstart job that runs before ltsp-reboot.conf, but no upstart jobs run at all when ldm.c runs `reboot -fp`... :(18:52
alkisgIt'd be nice if used a script or something that was easier to override...18:52
highvoltagestgraber: pong18:56
mhall119highvoltage: I added the idea of a higher-ed package to the Maverick wiki19:00
bencrisfordhighvoltage: stgraber: nicely done :D, hopefully we inspired some new contributors19:01
highvoltagemhall119: thanks for the questions it kept the flow going nicely :)19:01
mhall119that was the idea19:01
mhall119people tend to be shy about asking when nobody else is asking19:01
highvoltagebencrisford: this was the first session I did by myself and it went a lot better than I thought it would :)19:01
mhall119but open it up, and they'll follow19:02
highvoltage*nod* thanks!19:02
bencrisfordhighvoltage: it sure did :D19:02
bencrisfordthanks for the mention :)19:02
stgraberhighvoltage: thanks again for doing it19:02
bencrisfordthere is a meeting tonight right?  because I said there was on chat19:02
highvoltagestgraber: I'll post the logs to the list, I think some of the answers might be worth-while answering on our website as well19:03
bencrisford-classroom-chat*19:03
highvoltagebencrisford: indeed! although I'm not 100% sure that we need one tonight, it will probably beshort19:03
bencrisfordhighvoltage: ok :)19:04
mhall119best to have it now, in case potential new people show up19:04
stgraberI'm not sure I'll be there for the meeting tonight, though there's really not much to discuss. I registered all of the edubuntu/education sessions for UDS and will work more on that next week in Brussels19:04
mhall119is there a tentative schedule for UDS yet?19:04
mhall119I'm afraid most of it will happen while I'm sleeping19:05
bencrisfordwhat timezone is brussels19:06
bencrisfordis it UTC+0 at the moment?19:06
highvoltageUTC+219:07
bencrisfordhighvoltage: :D sweet!19:07
bencrisfordthat means i should be able to attend some more sessions19:08
bencrisfordremotely i mean19:08
highvoltagebencrisford: heh, I adjusted myself to canadian time over the last few months... now I've adjusted back to my "real" timezone over the last week in preperation for UDS :)19:09
bencrisfordhighvoltage: lol :)19:10
bencrisford=0 oh no...  UTC+2 isn't good :P, its even worse :P19:14
bencrisfordnevermind19:14
highvoltagebencrisford: since only one of us will technically physically be there, we'll probably do some planning and discussion outside of sessions too19:15
opplhi ... I just became aware of this channel during the classroom session a few minutes ago - I would maybe be interested in contributing. Will there be a meeting this evening? Just to get some initial ideas of what would be interesting for both sides ...19:15
highvoltagebencrisford: I think sessions are most useful when we need input from other teams and clever people19:15
highvoltageoppl: yep, in about 45 minutes on #ubuntu-meeting19:16
opploh - perfect19:16
opplthx19:16
highvoltageoppl: welcome :)19:17
opplthx ... good to be here19:18
bencrisfordhighvoltage: ok :),  I had some thoughts about the teams blueprint during the week19:20
bencrisfordits just a suggestion :), the final decision is down to council.  but I thought it might be easiest for everyone if me and whoever else wants to could sort the teams into the groups discussed during an IRC session19:21
bencrisfordthen we could get the council members to approve it, but obviously some might have attended said session19:22
bencrisfordthat way all the council members that dont want to/cannot be directly involved still have a say without having to attend the IRC session if they do not want to19:23
bencrisfordlike I say its just a suggestion :)19:23
highvoltagebencrisford: yep, sounds good. if you could get some of it in a wiki page it makes it even easier for comments to be added, etc19:24
bencrisfordhighvoltage: ok, i'll do that now, I can link to it in the meeting19:24
bencrisfordone already exists for the blueprint I can update that19:24
highvoltagebencrisford: I'd like to talk about the advocacy team in this meeting too19:25
highvoltagemy boss (also a Ben) basically sells Edubuntu every day of his life and wants to get involved19:25
highvoltage(brb)19:27
bencrisfordok, sounds good :)19:28
highvoltageEdubuntu Meeting Time!20:00

isforinsectshighvoltage: what about your boss? Where do you work?21:36
highvoltageisforinsects: Revolution Linux21:43
isforinsectsAah, I saw a mention that they sponsor some edubuntu work.21:52
isforinsectsCool.21:52
isforinsectsDo you install/support/host wikis for schools using *buntu?21:53
isforinsectsOne of the research projects I work on is wikis in education.21:54

rmainardHello everyone, I am running an ltsp cluster with ubuntu 8.04 as my load balancer and control center and edubuntu 9.1 for my root and app servers. I have added XSERVER=vesa, X_ORG_0=1024x768, LDMDIRECTX=True to the lts.conf all of which made it possible to log into my thin clients. the problem is when I log out or have a failed login the screen goes blank and it never recovers. Do you have any ideas as to what this could be?22:17
rmainardthis is on the thin client not the servers22:18
rmainardis anyone in here?22:32
rmainardhello23:06
