duanedesignnice imbrandon00:20
imbrandongonna clean them up a bit more ( and put them in a proper "repo" ) for wider testing sometime this weekend00:28
imbrandonthen when I finaly get ahold of the other DD  that maintains some of the build-deps for it in debian to update his packages00:29
imbrandoni'll upload it to sid00:29
imbrandonsooooooooo my estimates it should be avail for wider testing in less than 24 hours and in sid in about ~2 weeks00:29
imbrandon( assuming he is slow )00:29
mkarnickii cleared the scroll back :/ if I may ask, imbrandon, what are you working on?00:32
imbrandonmkarnicki: ubuntuone-client and rhythmbox-ubuntuone-music-store in debian00:33
imbrandon( plus supporting libs/apps )00:33
mkarnickiimbrandon: ah, sweet. great to hear that :)00:34
mkarnickiimbrandon: if I may ask, you you're like more-debian less-ubuntu or you're just spreading the love of U1 to debian ;) ?00:35
imbrandonmkarnicki: i spend my time probably equaly, but probably %65 Ubuntu :)00:35
* apachelogger is all for less of everything and more of grml ^^00:36
mkarnicki/s/you you're/so you're00:36
mkarnickiimbrandon: I see :)00:36
mkarnickiapachelogger: heheh :)00:36
imbrandonmkarnicki: but i maintain debian packages for work and have a few debian proper desktops , and i missed my music store ;)00:36
imbrandon( along with my ubuntu stuff )00:36
* apachelogger starts report drafting -.-00:37
mkarnickiimbrandon: I see :) so.. you work for debian, then?00:37
* imbrandon jabs apachelogger with a Hobsee's pointy stick00:37
mkarnickiapachelogger: what sort of report?00:37
apacheloggergsoc progress report about ubuntone-kde00:38
imbrandonmkarnicki: no i work for a private company that bases its server product off debian and desktop product off ubuntu ;) but i do other ubuntu-core-dev and ubuntu-motu stuff in my spare time too00:38
apacheloggerimbrandon: careful with that00:38
apacheloggerpeople could get hurt00:38
imbrandon:)00:38
mkarnickiapachelogger: you submit weekly progress reports during bonding period :) ?00:38
mkarnickiimbrandon: you're productive! :)00:39
* apachelogger has a tight schedule!00:39
mkarnickiapachelogger: so do I, but for now (bonding period) I just update the blog00:39
mkarnickiapachelogger: you have a gsoc related blog?00:39
imbrandonmkarnicki: lol, sometimes00:39
mkarnickiimbrandon: :)00:39
apacheloggermkarnicki: only a floss related blog ;)00:40
mkarnickiapachelogger: so you'll report right to your mentor, then?00:40
apacheloggeraye00:40
mkarnickiapachelogger: you know, I was wondering if I should submit the reports to the mentor, or both to him, and publishing it. on one hand, I might want to keep some issues to myself and my mentor, on the other, I want to be totally transparent00:41
imbrandonmkarnicki: and you ? ( hey i told my story , time for yours, lol )00:41
mkarnickiapachelogger: I think weekly reports will be for my mentor, and I'll submit any other updates to the blog00:41
mkarnickiimbrandon: well.. I'll be pretty productive for the next 4 months, google summer of code ;)00:42
mkarnickiimbrandon: Android client for Ubuntu One00:42
mkarnickiapachelogger: http://android-u1.blogspot.com/00:42
imbrandonmkarnicki: ahh nice, that will be good to have00:42
apacheloggermkarnicki: TBH, I would not blog reports at all, but interesting things learnt, pitfalls unveiled and promo stuff00:42
mkarnickiimbrandon: I thought so, also ^ ^00:42
* imbrandon agrees with apachelogger 00:42
imbrandonas far as the bogging00:43
imbrandonblogging*00:43
mkarnickiapachelogger: I kinda blog pretty everything, so that people (and mentor) know what was I doing00:43
mkarnickiapachelogger: even if it was regular documentation reading ;)00:43
mkarnickiapachelogger: you know.. he got the RSS feed, and see's what I'm up to00:43
apacheloggeralso makes sense I suppose :)00:43
* apachelogger is just too lazy to blog these days00:43
imbrandoni need to update mine a bit more00:44
mkarnickiapachelogger: imbrandon: this month I'm studying Android SDK/API, and very soon I'll be diggin more into ubuntuone-java-storageprotocol00:44
imbrandonoften00:44
apachelogger+ I always end up writing TLDR posts ^^00:44
mkarnickithat verterok has started in JAnuary :)00:44
mkarnickiapachelogger: TLDR?00:44
apacheloggertoo long didnt read00:44
imbrandontoo long dident read00:44
mkarnickixD00:44
imbrandonblog post over 3 paragraphs normaly fall into that category for me00:45
mkarnickiactually this is my kinda' first real blog. I had one, for few days, few years ago ;d00:45
apachelogger^^00:45
mkarnickisoon, I'll be publishing GUI mockups or something, I guess :)00:45
imbrandonive kept one since 2001ish00:45
mkarnickiwell.. everything is in the schedule :) (which is on the wiki, nvm the link :) )00:45
apacheloggermkarnicki: ever hold back on the gui stuff ^^00:45
mkarnickiimbrandon: nice :) have a link?00:45
imbrandonmkarnicki: brandonholtsclaw.com ( its on planet ubuntu and planet debian )00:46
mkarnickiapachelogger: you prefer a CLI client on Android for ubuntu one ;D ?00:46
mkarnickiimbrandon: you're productive xD !00:46
imbrandonlol00:46
apacheloggermkarnicki: if my phone had a proper kbd I probably would ;)00:47
mkarnickiapachelogger: I might have not got your point :)00:47
mkarnickiapachelogger: hehehe, you're an admin, huh ;) ?00:47
apacheloggernvm00:47
mkarnickiapachelogger: I mean, admin-kind of guy :) you like CLI. I also do :)00:47
* apachelogger is no admin ^^00:47
* imbrandon hugs his iPhone00:47
mkarnickigui is pretty the main point on Android, so I guess I gotta get it right ;)00:48
mkarnickiimbrandon: how dare you xD00:48
apacheloggerI am the one fixing strings in KDE http://imagebin.ca/view/3qNyR-P.html00:48
apacheloggerfixed: http://imagebin.ca/view/AtPoJz.html00:48
imbrandonmkarnicki: i have my phone dualbooting :)00:48
mkarnickiimbrandon: perhaps I'll write an iphone client in few months xD ?00:48
mkarnickiimbrandon: w00t :D ?00:48
mkarnickiimbrandon: you're kidding me, right?00:48
imbrandonmkarnicki: no00:48
apacheloggeris that even legal?00:48
imbrandonmkarnicki: andriod works on jailbroken phones00:48
mkarnickiapachelogger: uuu, what's that?00:49
imbrandonapachelogger: leagl yes, against apple eula , probably00:49
apacheloggerwould it even be leagal to develop an android app and then develop an iphone app?00:49
mkarnickiimbrandon: nice00:49
mkarnickiapachelogger: eee... why not, if it's open source?00:49
apacheloggerwell00:49
mkarnickiapachelogger: I mean.. what's the problem? dropbox has iphone, android, and (?) blackberry app?00:49
apacheloggerthe iphone is not00:49
mkarnickiapachelogger: the app would be free. I don't see any problem.. Perhaps I'm not aware of some policy thingy what not.00:50
apacheloggermkarnicki: there are like a billion restrictions of things you are not allowed to do on an iphone00:51
mkarnickiapachelogger: bleh.. no change. I didn't like it before, too ;d So now when I know that.. life ;)00:51
mkarnickiapachelogger: if dropbox has an app on iphone and android, canonical/ubuntu will manage to have U1, too :)00:52
imbrandonapachelogger: yea but i'm sure someone will make one00:53
mkarnickiapachelogger: that lens in the picture is yours?00:53
apacheloggeryeah, maybe one needs to bribe steve with cookies or something00:53
mkarnickixD00:53
apacheloggermkarnicki: what lens?00:53
imbrandonapachelogger: lol, iPhone apps arent that bad00:53
mkarnickithe link you provided.. the picture at the bottom.00:53
mkarnickiapachelogger: I mean, magnifying glass00:54
imbrandonthe images at the bottom are random images from the imageshost iirc00:54
apacheloggerexactly00:55
mkarnickiimbrandon: aah..00:55
mkarnickiso.. that picture was U1 for KDE?00:56
mkarnickijezz it's not in here..00:56
apacheloggerthe configuration interface of U1 for KDE00:56
mkarnicki:) *thumbs up*00:56
apacheloggeractually, the configuration interface template of U1 for KDE00:56
apacheloggerthough really, the only important thing about the screenshots is the string in the capacity bar ;)00:57
mkarnickiyeah, I saw that :D <300:57
mkarnickihyhyhy00:57
imbrandonmkarnicki / apachelogger : andriod on iphone http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5yO2KQHkt4A00:57
mkarnickihehe, nice imbrandon00:58
mkarnickiimbrandon: I saw linux on iPhone before. I don't know why I thought nobody had android already on their phone, it's linux.. :)00:59
mkarnicki/s/phone/iphone00:59
mkarnickinice :)00:59
mkarnickiimbrandon: you're running iPhone or Android more often?00:59
imbrandoniPhone, i just put andriod on there to play with it00:59
imbrandoni really like apple00:59
mkarnickiI see00:59
mkarnickiI don't like apple, their a bit closed for me. But I respect them for innovation and TT fonts :D01:00
mkarnickitoo closed, I meant.01:00
imbrandonthey arent as closed as windows :) atleast with apple you have access to 80% of the source01:01
mkarnickiI mean.. you get a mac, and you have to stick to your configuration. or.. some time before, you couldn't normally download a file from the net. my pal had to download the schools schedule (.xls) to check any class each time he needed.01:01
mkarnickiimbrandon: sure, not as closed as windows. agreed.01:02
imbrandonmkarnicki: huh ? that made no sense to me01:02
mkarnickinow you can download files/manage memory using some apps, etc. but that was essentially a standard thing for me, I tought "what? you can't download a file to your iPhone?"01:02
mkarnickiimbrandon: ok, sorry let me explain01:02
* apachelogger must never watch videos imbrandon recommends again, since they make apachelogger fall asleep01:03
imbrandonapachelogger: lol01:03
mkarnickiimbrandon: about a year ago, my friend with an iPhone, had to download a spredsheet file each time he wanted to check the schedule. he couldn't just save it on the iphone.01:03
imbrandonahh iPhone not mac, yes iphone doesnt let most apps directlt interface with the storage, but there is some that do01:03
mkarnickiimbrandon: natually, things have changed. but that was such a basic thing to do I was astonished it wasn't implemented..01:03
imbrandonyou siad mac, mac != iphone ;)01:04
mkarnickiimbrandon: omg, I did?  shoot, sorry01:04
mkarnicki;<01:04
mkarnickilol, that must have sounded funny xD01:04
imbrandon:)01:04
mkarnickiaa shoot, I mentioned too things, too fast01:04
mkarnickinormally you can upgrade/configure your laptop without void'ing the warranty01:05
imbrandonbut yea it all depends on the app, not the phone, some will download and access the FS01:05
imbrandonmkarnicki: sure01:05
mkarnickiwith mac, you basically have a magic box you can't do anything about it, on your own.01:05
imbrandonmkarnicki: infact its encouraged01:05
mkarnickiimbrandon: it is?01:05
imbrandonmkarnicki: sure you can, you have preconceptions from the 90's01:05
mkarnickiimbrandon: ;D01:05
imbrandonmkarnicki: apple hasent been like that for ages01:06
mkarnickiimbrandon: but they still have those stupid one button / touchpad :x mouses01:06
imbrandonmkarnicki: sure i added new pcie cards , new ram and a new ssd hdd to my macbook, all still under warentee01:06
mkarnickiI just can't get used to them :D01:06
mkarnickiimbrandon: ok, that's nice :)01:06
apacheloggermouse?01:06
imbrandonmkarnicki: no, the mice have 5 buttons01:06
imbrandonthe touchpads may only have one01:06
mkarnickiimbrandon: blah, the two on the sides? they are straaange ;D01:07
mkarnickiimbrandon: ok, they have 5, looks like one on the top, and two on the sides01:07
imbrandonmkarnicki: still right, left, right side , left side, roller, roller click01:07
mkarnickiimbrandon: can you even press one on the left, without pressing the other on the right?01:07
imbrandonmkarnicki: sure01:07
imbrandonmkarnicki: and there are 3 on the top like a normal mouse01:07
mkarnickiimbrandon: I'm never sure if I do right click or somewhat a middle click..01:07
mkarnickiimbrandon: ok, perhaps the mouse is just sluggish ;)01:08
imbrandonmkarnicki: lol01:08
mkarnickiimbrandon: ok, still, I <3 my linux box ;>01:08
mkarnickiheheheh01:08
mkarnicki* love it more01:08
imbrandonmkarnicki: honestly i think you just havent used a mac in a decade or so, all your arguements are about old old old apples01:08
mkarnickioh! and mac's are expensive. they are, currently ;)01:09
imbrandonmkarnicki: hahahah ok let me adress that one too then we need to stop, we're way off topic01:09
imbrandonmac == same price as Dell01:09
imbrandonmac just dont have the lower systems for $30001:09
mkarnickiimbrandon: I use one, with the newest OS in my school's studio. whenever I place it accidentally in one of those hot-spots, it rearranges the windows or shows the gadget's xD01:09
rotten777imbrandon, you shouldn't drink and shop for computers at the same time01:09
mkarnickiimbrandon: I use ASUS :)01:10
imbrandonrotten777: lol01:10
mkarnickiI know dell is expensive..01:10
imbrandonmkarnicki: but poeple always say apple == expnsive and it kinda irks me, they are no more expensive and 80% of the other OEM's01:10
imbrandoninfact sometimes cheaper01:11
mkarnickiall in all, I am aware that mac's have their adventages, I really am :) (surely much more then a windows box! bleh)01:11
rotten777i'm a giant nerd so i build my own systems generally but i did pick up a nice msi laptop for $640... right next to the apple inothing for the same price01:11
mkarnickiimbrandon: I get it01:11
imbrandonit would have cost me more to get the same spec macbook pro from Dell or Leveno01:12
mkarnickiok, gotta go know. it's 2:12 AM and I still need to read more documentation.01:12
imbrandonheh yea we're way off topic01:12
mkarnickiimbrandon: thanks for constructive talk :)01:12
rotten777best part about the apple computers... the handcuffs steve jobs puts on you when you try to do anything out of the box... bad eula proprietary garbage01:12
rotten777but gosh darnit they're pretty01:13
mkarnickirotten777: there's truth to that :)01:13
mkarnickirotten777: that also ;D01:13
imbrandonnot much truth01:13
rotten777not much truth?01:13
rotten777go talk to adobe01:13
mkarnickibut I like my black ASUS more :)01:13
mkarnickioh yeah.. apple vs adobe, that's kinda strage what is apple doing.01:13
imbrandonadobe is worse than apple and your using that as an arguement? wow01:13
imbrandonsounds to me like you just read what other people write and not form your own opinions based on experince01:14
rotten777imbrandon, obviously you've been following the adobe flash vs apple iphone news...01:14
mkarnickiimbrandon: in what sense? adobe just developed something (sorry, I can't recall now..) for apple, and apple blocks flash01:14
rotten777imbrandon, sounds like you're an apple fanboy who can't face reality01:14
imbrandonrotten777: ...01:15
mkarnickiadobe.. what did they develop.. another photoshop or what.. nvm, I'm way off topic ;)01:15
mkarnickirotten777: ok, that's enough guys :)01:15
mkarnickilet's go of adobe, apple, and making computers on our own01:15
mkarnickiI wanna leave in a peaceful atmosphere :)01:15
rotten777haha all is peaceful01:16
rotten777irc chatrooms can't disrupt my happy01:16
mkarnickiyou guys are really great, honestly. every day I mean such great ppl on IRC :)01:16
mkarnickiimbrandon: thanks again for the talk :)01:16

duanedesignkermiac: did you see i asked rye about that bug earlier today03:57
kermiacduanedesign: yup, I saw that thanks :) I noticed that 567953 is regarding "incorrect out state" & appears to be when files are edited in the local u1 directory. The bugs I mentioned refer to "incorrect in state". I'm not sure that they are 100% the same thing. I'm hoping to catch one of the devs or rye or someone to double-check before duping them04:01

mark_roundI have a couple of songs that will not download from the music store. They alternate between "queued" and "there was a problem with downloading". 7digital say it's an Ubuntu support issue and can't help. Any idea who to talk to to get it resolved or get a refund ?16:31
mkarnickimark_round: you're at the right place, perhaps a bit too late (late afternoon, sunday). you'll find help here, be patient. perhaps come back tomorrow.16:32
mark_roundOK. Will try tomorrow then if no reply today. I've added a note to bug #551755 as well.16:34
ubottuLaunchpad bug 551755 in rhythmbox-ubuntuone-music-store "some of my songs still haven't downloaded" [Critical,Fix committed] https://launchpad.net/bugs/55175516:34
mark_roundThanks, ubottu. I added a note to that bug as I had been affected by it in the past. This seems to be a different issue, but that seems to be the main bug where these things are logged.16:35
mark_roundJust frustrating - I /want/ to be able to support Ubuntu and buy music through the store, but each time it's been plagued with problems. Understand it's early days though, but it is a pain when real money is involved.16:37
mkarnickimark_round: you're aware that .ubottu is a bot :)16:48
mark_roundWell, I am now. Should have guessed :)16:49
mkarnickimark_round: and I get your pain. I may upgrade some day, but this service is still kinda fresh.16:49
mkarnickimark_round: :)16:49
mark_roundYup. But I'm happy to keep plugging away at it, as when it does work properly it'll beat the pants off the Amazon store. And the whole integration with u1 is a major bonus.16:51

duffydackhahah22:53
duffydackI think some people think irc is like clicking on Dell Live Tech support (Ive used it btwt and found them all completely clueless and cause more problems that you began with)22:55
mkarnickiduffydack: :D23:10
duffydackIm still suffering from having to deal with their clueless tech support even after a month.. just thinking about it sends me into a rage.23:11
duffydackI got a new laptop in december, its a damn nice one, but then 1 thing went wrong, then another, then another..23:12
mkarnicki:/23:12
spokeshello23:12
duffydackthe times I had to restore the windows install for them to take control of it to satisfy their cluelessness23:12
duffydackall so I could get them to admit, its BROKE.  to either get an engineer to come replace the broken part (woo thats another story!)23:13
spokesDoes anyone know if the contacts sync is only a 30day trrial on the free Ubuntu One plan?23:14
mkarnickispokes: yes, i think it is.23:14
spokesThanks.23:15
mkarnickiduffydack: too bad. i thought dell service was more comprehensive23:15
mkarnickispokes: np23:15
duffydackthe 3rd party guys they gave the contract to to be 'service' engineers were also all clueless.. in fact 1 of them while replacing the mobo, broke the audio, which was the next thing I rand up about to complain that was broke...23:15
duffydackI had 6 people in a month come to my house...23:15
spokesI'll leave you guys to it, thanks for the help.23:15
duffydackbefore I then vented my anger..I demanded a replacement... I got one..23:16
duffydackWait..  the phone contacts I have sync`d only lets me do it for 30 days?23:17
duffydackI guess the honest person in me has to mention, I still get that 30 day notification on the page, even after I have already sync`d them over my phone..I did wonder what it meant..23:19
mkarnickiduffydack: yes, I think it's a trial for 30 days23:24
mkarnicki:)23:24
duffydackThe contacts service is currently undergoing upgrade work, and will be back online in about 30 minutes.  it said that 8 hours ago :)23:28
