daweedhello did any one know what is a emovix0 on k3d?02:17
daweedAnnaZ:  what do you mind?02:18
AnnaZthere's k3bsetup tool. you'll want to add yourself to the group cdrom, not burning.02:19
AnnaZor you could sudo k3b and burn as root. that should work.02:20
AnnaZor you could chown the sub-app that is failing.02:20
genii"erasing fail" sounds like you are trying to wipe an eraseable disc02:21
AnnaZor well k3bsetup will pretty much do the last thing if you don't give it a group.02:22

mrdaweedDarthFrog:  SR sda7 are the / and sda8 are the /Home05:45

mrdaweedDarthFrog:  have you see that in windows are some unatended versions? with all the software what you need like office and tuneup utilities or god know what else but a lot of frograms in a dvd---------> is in linux a distribuition of somthing like that i dont want to be installing flash and devede and mplayer and other programs is a distribuition somewhere with all built in?06:02

DarthFrogBut to answer your question, I have Win7 installed for some games.  I very rarely run it as I've managed to get the games I care about (except Tropico 3) running in Kubuntu.06:06
mrdaweedDarthFrog: but do you know a distribuition with flash and other usefull programs like as you say other better than ark06:07
DarthFrogDo you still have that Konsole window open?  If so, type "exit". then type "sudo k3b" and see if you can see the /mnt/ partitions now.06:08
DarthFrogKubuntu or Ubuntu have everything you need, both now and in the future.06:09

DarthFrogmrdaweed: Yes, you can copy to an NTFS partition.  But I'd suggest that you only copy data files that way.06:49

ArGGu^^and it did not sort when i click on the head of the column14:52
ArGGu^^but my mouse work on every other app just fine14:52
ForgeAusI really do like Wubi tho14:52
ForgeAusits fun and interesting14:52
obertForgeAus:  i dunno its logic anyway:why get windows then wubi, since should be the contrary14:53
ArGGu^^My mouse also work on fine on the system monitor app except the sorting :S14:53
ForgeAusobert but theres wine for that14:54

ForgeAusI have to agree that kpackagekit isn't so nice I miss the oldskool kpackage14:57
obertapt-get install -> but dunno why someone told me to dont use it14:58
ForgeAuswel firstly you need a sudo15:00
ForgeAusso it should be sudo apt-get install15:00
ForgeAus(apt-cache search to find a package btw)15:00
obertapt-cache what? to get a list of reposity?15:01
ForgeAusthe command to search for a package is: apt-cache search <keyword>15:05
ForgeAusie apt-cache search nvidia15:05
ForgeAusfor example15:05
ForgeAusapt-get update for your sources (to make sure your package list is up to date)15:05
KOPRajshi, I've upgraded from karmic to Lucid and now I'm experiencing two bugs...15:06
KOPRajsfirst: after few days of uptime I suddenly lost some icons on my task bar and all icons in kickoff menu (also the menu and kickoff itself became very slow)15:07
ForgeAuslost icons from taskbar? you mean the plasma panel?15:08
KOPRajsafter reboot everything is OK, but after few days again icons diappear and kickoff became slow15:08
ForgeAusor apps you were running died on you?15:08
KOPRajsyes... I lost the K-menu icon on the pannel + I lost icons of some running apps15:08
KOPRajsbut those apps are running15:08
obertForgeAus:  i'd forgot to update,indeed15:09
KOPRajseven the area in systray remains "clickable"15:09

ForgeAusI havn't and don't really know what to do about it15:10
BluesKajKOPRajs, have you updated /15:10
BluesKaj?15:10
KOPRajsalso Kmix icon is gone (but I can still click on the empty space in systray and change volume)15:10
ForgeAusnote: kickoff is just a widget on the panel btw15:10
KOPRajsI'm on latest Lucid15:10
KOPRajsyes15:10
KOPRajsso I suppose this is plasma bug15:10
KOPRajsmaybe memory leak or something15:10
BluesKajyes, KOPRajs but have you updated as in sudo apt-get update?15:11
ForgeAusoh you have disappearing icons but the proggy still there just leaves empty space? interesting15:11
ForgeAusit is definitely plasma-related whatever it is15:11
KOPRajsBluesKaj: yes, I have the system updated15:11
ForgeAusI didn't upgrade from karmic to lucid ...15:11
obertswitch to Consolas font:P15:12
BluesKajKOPRajs, just add the kmenu kicker with add widgets option15:12
ForgeAusI did dist-upgrades from edgy to feisty to gutsy to hardy to intrepid... but not since then15:12
ForgeAusI only just got Lucid working via Wubi now15:12

BluesKajForgeAus,` well if you insist on wubi , you have to expect problems15:14
ForgeAusactually I like wubi15:15
KOPRajsK-menu, Kmix, Kopete, KnetworkManager and all icons in Kickoff are gone15:15
ForgeAuswhat kind of problems?15:15
ForgeAusKOPRajs:  I wonder if theres something they have in common other than the icon going missing on you15:15
KOPRajsBluesKaj: no, the Menu is there, only icon is not shown15:15

DarthFrogProbably a new kernel.15:27
ForgeAusI'm going to need 6 days just to get this kernel the speed this is (or rather isn't) going15:27
KOPRajsbtw. I forgot to mention that the time is incorrect... in the same moment when icons disappeared the time had gone back two hours... it is 16:11 and other system knows that but the pannel shows 14:11... see the screenshot and the timestamps on Quassel and on the panel: http://jf-web.wz.cz/kubuntu_missing_icons.png15:28

They can additionally provide "desktop special effects" (such as the "cube") by means of plug-ins. Join #compiz-fusion for help and support with advanced features. AnnaZoh...22:54
AnnaZok :)22:54
bawwwthanks for your help :)22:54
BluesKajamichair, the cli isn't the way to install nvidia drivers , your graphical interface (X) has to be stopped first , so you need login to a TTY which is similar to the cli and then you have remove the existing driver , then install the nvidia driver for your card.22:58
amichairBluesKaj: I always thought cli is a generic term for... command line interfaces (as opposed to GUI). I meant the TTY of course :-)22:58
amichairBluesKaj: do you happen to know which package it is?23:00
BluesKajamichair, yes your right in that sense23:00
BluesKajdepends on your nvidia card , amichair23:00
amichairI'm currently using upstream 195.36.15 on karmic. I'm about to upgrade to lucid, and to avoid complications (something mentioned in the known issues), I want to go back to standard packages until after the upgrade completes23:01
BluesKajamichair, lspci | grep VGA23:02
amichairBluesKaj: GeForce 930023:03
ForgeAusis there any video cards that are 3D (and 2D?) accelerated that aren't ATI/NVidia?23:03
BluesKajamichair, ok, i doubt you'll have a problem with the lucid upgrade with that driver.23:04
romemy 2.6.32-22 update didn't succeed23:04
romei am still on 2.6.32-2123:04
amichairBluesKaj: so I stay with upstream drivers, upgrade, then after reboot (probably into TTY since kernel change means no video drivers), and reinstall the upstream drivers?23:05
BluesKajamichair, kernel source drivers should install ok23:06
amichairBluesKaj: Alrighty then. I was just a bit worried about that vague known issues blurb, but I suppose I'll just give it a go. Thanks!23:07
BluesKajupstream drivers is anew expression to me , is that aprprietary driver from the nvidia site , amichair ?23:07
=== steaminc is now known as SteamInc
BluesKajproprietary23:08
amichairBluesKaj: yes, sorry, that's what I meant23:08
amichairBluesKaj: straight from the nvidia website23:08
SteamInc#windows23:08
BluesKajamichair, when you install lucid , it will remove any conflicting drivers and install the proper kernel source driver23:09
BluesKajok, time for dinner ....BBL23:10
amichairBluesKaj: ok, I'll hope for the best :-)23:10
amichairBluesKaj: thanks again :-)23:10
