RAOFHm.  Why is mesa_7.8.1.orig.tar.gz different to what's on freedesktop.org?01:17
tjaaltonRAOF: it's built from the upstream tarballs04:57
tjaaltonthere is no single released tarball04:57
tjaaltonRAOF: got my msg?05:08
RAOFtjaalton: No.05:22
RAOF(Sorry, lunch)05:23
RAOFAs in: was having lunch.05:23
tjaalton06:57 < tjaalton> RAOF: it's built from the upstream tarballs05:25
tjaalton06:57 < tjaalton> there is no single released tarball05:25
tjaaltonthough git has05:26
tjaaltonthe tagged tarball05:26
tjaaltonbut it's not the same thing05:26
RAOFWhere in git has the tagged tarball?05:27
tjaaltoncgit shows it05:29
tjaaltonit's probably just a dump of the tagged contents05:29
RAOFOn alioth, or on freedesktop?05:29
tjaaltonfreedesktop05:29
tjaaltonas in, the web frontend shows it ;)05:30
RAOFAh, right.05:30
RAOFSweet.  Mesa builds now.05:36
tjaaltonnice05:36
tjaaltonit's the next one to go in?05:36
RAOFI might just update debian/watch so that in future I don't get confused about where to grab the tarball from :)05:36
tjaaltonyeah05:37
tjaaltoni use the versions_current -page links to get to the debian package page, but it could be easier.. :)05:38
hyperairSarvatt: seems that 2:2.11.0+git20100518.5e04a813-0ubuntu0sarvatt~lucid makes X unstartable.05:44
Bernardogood morning06:11
RAOFBernardo: Good morning.  How is our intrepid psb adventurer?06:12
Bernardolol06:12
BernardoHaven't looked at it since the weekend06:12
BernardoLucazade seems to have done a good job on the packages, tying up a couple of loose ends so things now install and work (without 3d and video) directly from the ppa without the need for any tuning (except for kernel options for a couple of specific models)06:13
BernardoI've looked at tseliot's test patch for xorg-core this weekend, but didn't advance there06:14
BernardoRAOF: we need some X expert to look at the code, I haven't done any significant coding in more than 10 years, and even though I can still read code, I'm very much lost when looking at X source, I need to learn everything and don't have the time06:18
Bernardomaybe tseliot will be able to do more work on his patch one of his days06:19
Bernardoone of "these" days06:19
RAOFWhere's that patch?06:26
RAOFAnd what is it meant to do?  I haven't been following the psb saga closely - you all seemed to have it well in hand :)06:26
Bernardoit's in tseliot ppa - albertomilone06:29
BernardoIt just stops the crashes if a null pointer is passed to fbcopynton, from what I saw06:29
Bernardobut the side effect is that it breaks bitmaps, and scrolling in firefox and console06:30
RAOFOh.  So to test anything I'd need actual hardware.  Yay.06:30
BernardoI'd lent you my 1101HA, but I do need it avary day06:33
Bernardoevery06:33
Bernardoof course, if I'm online, you can always ask me to test any patch06:35
BernardoI've already built xorg-core a few times here06:35

tjaaltonRAOF: umm, we _don't_ use the cgit tarball of mesa06:56
tjaaltonbut build it from the three released tarballs06:57
tjaaltonmaybe I was unclear about that, sorry06:58
RAOFtjaalton: Aah, ok.07:37
RAOFget-orig-source it is, then.07:38
tjaaltonyeah it could also do the cleanup of the extracted tarballs before building it07:40
tjaaltonunless you mean only to fetch from debian07:40
RAOFThat wouldn't be very useful for debian now, would it? :)07:41
tjaaltonno :)07:41
tjaaltoncan't remember what was deleted from the extracted tree before building the tarball, but it's easy to check07:41
RAOFHm.  This seems like something for source-format 3.0 was designed for...07:49
jcristauRAOF: hopefully anholt's demos repository will land soon, then we'll just need the MesaLib tarball, instead of MesaLib+MesaDemos08:55
RAOFjcristau: And, in the mean time, this get-orig-source target can document what to do :)09:00
jcristauyeah09:02
lucazadehi tseliot I would like to know if you have found a solution for PSB glx?10:16
chrisccoulsonhey RAOF - did you see the scrollback on monday between me and Sarvatt?10:17
chrisccoulson(sorry, i'd fallen asleep by the time you replied) ;)10:17
tseliotlucazade: no but there's an upstream bug open: https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=2807710:18
tseliotalso Sarvatt mentioned the fact that a new psb driver has been released10:18
lucazadeok thanks.. gma500 ppa now set also xorg.conf with shadowfb enabled, so should works without hacks10:19
lucazadenew psb or iegd ?10:20
jcristauwhy set it in xorg.conf when you can just make it the default in the driver?10:20
lucazadebecause i don't know where to change jcristau :) lol10:21
lucazadepoulsbo.conf ?10:21
jcristauno.  the driver.10:21
lucazadeor permanent like ignoreacpi?10:21
lucazadeok10:21
lucazadei hope this is only a temp workaround btw10:22
jcristaujust switch the default around10:22
lucazadeok i'll look into10:22
RAOFchrisccoulson: The stuff about gnome-screensaver and xrandr gamma fade?10:29
chrisccoulsonRAOF - yeah, that's right10:29
RAOFLet me get back into the context…10:30
RAOFOk.10:31
RAOFSo, it looked like disabling fade was a safe work-around.10:33
RAOFchrisccoulson: Oh, someone reported that it didn't work?10:38
chrisccoulsonRAOF, the SRU i uploaded has several fixes in, but one of the crasher fixes doesn't work10:38
chrisccoulsonso, it's an unrelated issue10:38
RAOFAh, ok.10:38
RAOFWe just need to ensure that Maverick doesn't require the same workaround.10:39

LaMsHi 19:26
rippsI'm pretty impressed by how stable xorg-edgers is, I was expecting constant crashes all the time. The only issue I'm getting is problem I'm getting is resuming from suspend, and I've already figured out that it's being caused by my mainline 2.6.34 kernel, not xorg.19:39
