[00:58] is this the right place to ask Ubuntu/LTSP related questions? [01:00] I just installed ltsp-standalone via apt, I have a thin client booting via pxe, but after login, it goes to the CLI on SCREEN_07. How do I get a X Session (or LDM) to start? [01:01] I tried making changes to /vat/lib/tftpboot/ltsp/i386/lts.conf, but the changes dont seem to effect the thinclients [01:06] LedHed: unfortunately all the LTSP guys are on European time [01:06] and have mostly gone to bed [01:06] good to know. I'll ask in the morning. [01:06] thanks mhall119 [01:06] yeah, they're usually more active then [01:06] np [09:23] !info apache2 hardy [09:23] apache2 (source: apache2): Next generation, scalable, extendable web server. In component main, is optional. Version 2.2.8-1ubuntu0.15 (hardy), package size 44 kB, installed size 100 kB [11:59] !info ltsp >leagris [12:19] hey everyone [12:41] morning [12:46] morning mhall119underscore [14:06] underscore? That won't do === mhall119_ is now known as mhall119 [14:06] much better [15:55] good morning, I just installed ltps-server-standalone. My thinclients are booting to a Ubuntu login prompt. I attempted to create a user account by chrooting to /opt/ltsp/i386, then issuing the 'adduser' command, then I ran ltsp-update-image. I then rebooted the clients, but I'm unable sign in via the new user account I created. [16:10] I guess I was supposed to add the user account to the server rather than the chroot [16:15] LedHed: Yes, correct. [16:16] sbalneav, after logging in, I get a Shell on SCREEN_07, is this the default behavior? [16:16] I though I would get an X session (GUI) [16:17] Have you created an lts.conf file? If not, the default behaviour SHOULD be a graphical login, but it's possible the video hardware in the thin client isn't being detected correctly. [16:18] my test client is a VirtualBox VM. I'll try a physical device. Thanks. [16:19] I do get a Graphical Login Prompt with the Ubuntu logo. [16:26] cool. [16:55] meeting about new branding and websites in #ubuntu-meeting in 5 minutes [16:59] afternoon [17:08] do I have to have X installed on the server if I want to be able to run X on the clients? [17:15] no [17:15] well, you don't need the X server running [17:15] you will need Xlibs I think [17:16] I installed Ubuntu 10.04 server, then installed ltsp-server-standalone. [17:17] The only thing in my lts.conf is [default] LDM_AUTOLOGIN=True LDM_USERNAME=user LDM_PASSWORD=***, [17:18] when the clients boot up, I get a X mouse pointer, then a xterm, [17:18] but no GUI [17:19] it was my understanding that the default behavior was for the clients to boot to a GUI.
