=== solarion_ is now known as solarion === RAOF_ is now known as RAOF === Bernardo|away is now known as Bernardo [05:34] good morning [05:40] Ooh. xserver 1.8.1+git. Now with 35.7% less DRI2 craziness! [05:41] eh? DRI2's getting removed? [05:41] why? [05:41] Not removed, fixed. [05:42] oh [05:42] O_o [05:42] what was broken with it? [05:43] You know that “xserver crashes whenever you close a clutter app” bug that got fixed with a patch that caused the GEM leak? The work upstream to fix it has gone through a number of iterations, most of which broke something in DRI2 at some point. [05:43] um no i don't know that bug. [05:58] the one that almost delayed lucid release? [06:00] Right. [06:02] http://www2.bryceharrington.org:8080/X/Reports/ubuntu-x-swat/versions-current.html [06:02] yess, we are done :) [06:03] Hurray! [06:06] * Bernardo wonders if he'll have the time this weekend to try and trace meego's psb drivers [06:48] bbl === Bernardo is now known as Bernardo|away === jbs is now known as Bernardo [11:19] RAOF: hey [11:20] RAOF: you might have met alf__ at UDS; he is helping on our graphics story for embedded ... [11:21] RAOF: from what i understand from chatting here yesterday with jcristau and Sarvatt you appear to plan working on making egl/gles packages available for mesa? [11:21] RAOF: could you share your ideas/progress etc. on that with me and alf__ ? thanks a bunch [11:23] asac, alf__: So, there are two separate egl/gles stacks in mesa at the moment; classic mesa and gallium. [11:25] The classic mesa has dri, glx, and dri2 egl backends, so should be usable on random desktop hardware. [11:25] RAOF: oh.... so what is gallium about ;)? (guess you are still typing) [11:26] I haven't yet played with the gallium egl/es stack. It's likely to not work well on intel, but nouveau has gallium drivers, and the radeon gallium driver is getting better than the classic mesa driver. [11:27] hmm. [11:27] RAOF: is it possible to package both up? [11:27] or do we need to decide? [11:27] Yes, it should be possible to package both. [11:28] RAOF: nice. are you planning on working on that? [11:29] Yes. If you want it faster, I can prioritise. So far I've just run it past the debian guys and poked around the mesa tree. [11:29] we somewhat need to get a clutter gles out asap ... wonder if there is anything else blocking a first iteration [11:29] RAOF: Will there be any conflicts if both the classic and gallium stacks are present on the system? Eg does one have to explicitly choose? [11:30] You do have to choose which driver you're using, yes. [11:30] RAOF: we want it fast, because we just dont know what happens and if that is good enough to start seriously checking drivers and clutter for unity [11:31] and we want to give vendors and unity folks something to play with in order to get the embedded experience out. [11:31] Ok. I'll get that done Monday. [11:31] wow [11:31] thats amazing [11:31] RAOF: do you see anything else we might need to do to do a clutter gles? [11:32] Perhaps I should backpedal somewhat - I'll get mesa building the appropriate libs Monday. No guarantees it'll be in the archive yet :) [11:32] * asac hugs RAOF [11:32] RAOF: thats fine. if you get the package in a ppa that would be good enough. we want to play with lucid for now i guess [11:33] When I tried to build the egl backend previously all I noticed that we were missing was egl. [11:33] but we can backport if mesa hasnt moved away too much [11:34] RAOF: hmm. isnt that in mesa itself? [11:35] Yes, but we don't build that at the moment. [11:37] You want to play on Lucid; is there any reason why I shouldn't be working on Maverick's mesa, giving it a bit of a test in lucid, and then pushing it to a lucid PPA? [11:37] sigh closed ubuntu-x list. [11:37] Is that the level of support that you need in Lucid? [11:38] jcristau: Yeah, it still bites me - always a game of “which one of my email addresses is subscibed there?” === jbs is now known as Bernardo [14:42] RAOF: sure. go for mesa+maverick [14:42] just would love if it doesnt cause too much pain to get for lucid ;) [15:55] asac: need to package the proprietary libgles/egl with -dev packages for it for one thing if you actually want 3D :) [16:31] RAOF: meego is shipping libegl/libegl-devel in mesa btw if it helps too look at their packages [16:31] still havent figured out what they are doing for gles [16:39] ahh ok looks like mameo is where to look for the gles stuff, it hasn't made it over to meego yet - http://wiki.maemo.org/OpenGL-ES [16:39] libgles1-sgx-img libgles2-sgx-img opengles-sgx-img-common libgles1-sgx-img-dev opengles-sgx-img-common-dev libgles2-sgx-img-dev - those packages [18:11] Hi! I'd like some guidance on https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/551668 [18:11] It's killing my battery life [18:12] Also on the same laptop nouveau refuses to work https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/581385 [18:13] anything I can do to get those going? [18:21] hi [18:32] Bernardo: hi
