veasnaare you there, marjo?00:07
veasnayou're still working?00:08
yotuxI just installed 10.10 alpha 1 and did an update and it complained about a package in the cli.02:57
yotuxDo I need to document this somewhere?02:57
tgm4883yotux, what package?02:59
yotuxgnome-appearance-properties.desktop03:00
tgm4883well thats the file it was, but i'm assuming gnome-appearance-properties was the package?03:01
tgm4883I believe you will need to file a bug against the package in launchpad03:01
yotuxI'll pastebin output is that ok?03:01
tgm4883sure03:01
tgm4883for some reason I was thinking this was a different channel, but i'll try to help :)03:01
yotuxhttp://ubuntu.pastebin.com/TrnfYXv303:05
yotuxtgm4883 -- thankz for any help new to testing03:05
tgm4883yotux, I did a quick search but didn't find a bug. I'd file a bug here https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/maverick03:07
yotuxThankz ,  I have a gwibber issue to so I look that up while there03:08
tgm4883yw03:11
stentenWow. Is that how we're supposed to file bugs in Maverick?03:16
stentennominate them all for release in Maverick?03:16
tgm4883stenten, IDK, honestly when I saw his question I thought I was in a completely different channel. Nobody else chimed in so I tried to help03:18
tgm4883I usually just idle in here in case someone needs me to do something for mythbuntu03:18
stentenhah, ok then :)03:19
tgm4883anyway dinner is calling, so you can rant my way and i'll read it all when I get back :)03:19
aramorning all!07:24

alouriehi ara07:37
xdatapmorning10:33
xdatapara, hi!10:34
aramorning xdatap10:44
xdatapara, ciao. I need a clarification10:45
araxdatap, tell me10:46
* xdatap at phone10:48
* xdatap back10:50
xdatapara, about maverick alpha 1 desktop10:50
araxdatap, what's up10:50
xdatapara, in the mail you said that because the kernel bug we would not have the desktop image10:50
xdatapara, but we received the mail from iso tracker and ppl tested it and... it works10:51
araxdatap, yes, the kernel bug was fixed, and now we have desktop images10:51
araxdatap, I will send the updated mail10:51
xdatapara, but in the image the kernel version is 2.6.34.5.4 while in the bug the fixed version is 2.6.34-5.1310:52
xdatap(slow typing because i'm interrupted often)10:53
araxdatap, in the manifest you can see: linux-image-2.6.34-5-generic 2.6.34-5.1310:54
xdatapara, in the manifest inside the package you mean? I checked with apt-cache policy and with synaptic and it say 2.6.34.5.4. I mean the 20100602.2 image. Is that correct?11:01
arayes, it is correct, but, if you do apt-cache policy linux-image, then you will have the correct one11:01
xdatapara, I have to go. Thanks11:09
araxdatap, have a nice day11:10
Hewwhat happened to ubuntu.com/testing ? Is there a replacement?12:29
fader_Hey all13:18
aramorning fader_13:24
* fader_ is having one of those days.13:24
fader_I rebuilt my main machine last night but didn't actually manage to finish installing, and then my home server died, so I've been up to my elbows in cables for 30 minutes...13:25
fader_I should have stayed in bed :)13:25
araouch!13:26
arafader_, what did you try? reinstalling with maverick alpha1?13:26
fader_ara: No, just 10.04 LTS... the issue was that I decided to nuke the windows partition that came on the system since I had never ever booted into it.  But resizing the drive was going to take 4 hours so I went to bed13:27
fader_It's working, just not set back up yet... installing updates now.  Good thing I had my netbook :)13:27
arafader_, :)13:27
fader_I think cyphermox said he was crazy enough to put alpha 1 on his main system... let's see if he is around today after that ;)13:28
aratomorrow I will reinstall 10.04 amd64 in my main laptop and then will upgrade to maverick13:28
aralet see how that goes13:28
fader_Hehehe13:28
moustafagood luck!13:28
fader_ara: Good luck indeed!13:28
* fader_ will wait for alpha 2 :)13:29
moustafaBut it hasn't reached alpha 1.  Right?13:29
arafader_, that's sensible... i might just reinstall and wait a bit more13:29
arato upgrade13:29
fader_moustafa: A1 is today13:30
fader_moustafa: Why don't you upgrade and tell us if it is safe :)13:30
moustafafader_ I did not know that 0_013:30
moustafalol13:30
moustafaGood try!13:30
moustafaI"ll make a virtual install first13:31
moustafaDon"t want to screw up the family PC13:31
fader_Heh, coward :D13:33
moustafafader_ It"s called "protecting the gonads"13:34
arawell, I'd better get going for lunch, see you guys in an hour13:34
moustafaAlthough, at this rate, I should be able to get a cheap testing PC pretty soon13:34
fader_ara: Ciao / chow :)13:35
moustafaara: Enjoy!13:35
moustafafader_ Wait a sec, if I'm a coward, then what does that make you?13:40
fader_moustafa: It makes me cautious ;)13:40
moustafafader_ touch/13:40
* moustafa curses english keyboard for lack of accents13:40
fader_Caps lock makes such a good compose key... éĥ?13:42
moustafafader_ That's a swedish canadian accent?13:43
fader_Heheh13:43
moustafaThat's why I think the french canadians should fear Ikea more than the english13:44

alourieuhm, ping16:05
araalourie, hey16:06
alourieara: I've installed the site, but it seems that modules are not yet good for drupal6. Is there any way to downgrade drupal or update modules?16:07
araalourie, instead of installing drupal6 you can just16:08
araapt-get install drupal216:08
araapt-get install drupal516:08
arasorry16:08
araalourie, btw, as part of a change I had to make anyways, I changed Edit result to Update result (still not in production)16:08
araso you can concentrate in other bugs :-)16:08
arathere are plenty!16:08
alouriegreat, thanks!16:09
alourieara: I'm running on Lucid, and it has problems installing drupal5...16:09
arawhich problems?16:09
alourie"This may mean that the package is missing, has been obsoleted, or is only available from another source"16:10
araalourie, and the line above that one?16:12
alourie"Package drupal5 is not available, but is referred to by another package"16:12
araalourie, ok, it is not in Lucid, you can try to see if there is a drupal5 ppa for lucid16:13
alourieok16:13
araalourie, there is one: https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/drupal516:14
alourieso, the fact that it doesn't have "Lucid" builds should turn me off, right?16:15
araalourie, go to section "Other versions of 'drupal5' in untrusted archives. "16:33
araalourie, that should point you to a ppa16:34
arahttps://launchpad.net/~ari-tczew/+archive/drupal16:34
alourieara: I'm trying it now16:35
Gadget3000I've got a network card with a rt2860 chipset that works out of the box in Lucid but I had to blacklist some modules to get it to work in the maverick alpha. Should I file this kind of thing as a bug?17:00
fader_Gadget3000: Yes, please do17:01
fader_Gadget3000: Your best bet is probably to open a terminal use 'ubuntu-bug linux' to file it, as that will gather the relevant information for you17:01
Gadget3000fader_: Will do. Thanks for the response17:02
fader_Gadget3000: No problem :)  Please also add the tag "regression-potential" if you are certain it worked in 10.04 LTS but not in maverick.17:03
fader_And thanks for helping :)17:03

Gadget3000fader_: I've tried reporting the bug using 'ubuntu-bug linux' but I fill in all the information then says 'this is not a genuine ubuntu package'.19:59
Gadget3000fader_: nvm. I've worked out why. I didn't update the package database!20:01
fader_Gadget3000: Ah, glad you got it figured out :)20:03
