Jibadeehalol o_portista1720:55
Jibadeehahas it worked with previous versions of ubuntu20:55
o_portista17my video card is not suported, my audio card, doesn't work anymore...time to change OS ? ;x20:55
o_portista17it was working...but since i rebooted and made some upgrades on 10.10, it's not working20:56
Jibadeehawhat about with 10.0420:56
h00kdon't forget to file bug reports so it can get fixed!20:56
o_portista17it was working, but suddenly it stopped, and then i upgraded to 10.1020:57
Jibadeehao_portista17, these situations can arise with Windows - infact more so with my hardware20:57
Jibadeehai don't think upgrading to 10.10 will help given it is alpha20:58
Jibadeehai would go back to a fresh install of 10.04 if i were you and work out your problems with that as it is well supported and production status20:58
Jibadeeha10.10 is asking for trouble20:58
o_portista17i don't want a fresh install ;x21:01
=== pgraner-afk is now known as pgraner
Jibadeehao_portista17, do you keep your home directory on a separate partition?21:04
o_portista17no, all in the same disk/partition21:05
=== nhandler_ is now known as nhandler
Jibadeehawould have been easier if you had home mounted on a separate partition as then you could do a fresh install with out touching your home stuff21:09

h00kIan_corne: horray!22:52
DanaG1BUGabundo: to see screen DPI, it used to be xdpyinfo... but now Xorg lies and says everything is 96.23:05
DanaG1So my laptop is apparently 20 inches diagonal.23:06

holsteini have found LOTS of help at my loco channel23:16
holstein#ubuntu-us-nc23:16
InnerFIRE_ok.. thank u.. didnt know such channels existed23:17
kklimondaugh, if I had 300 laptops and were running ubuntu on all of them I'd pay Canonical for support just to keep my sanity intact..23:18
holsteinand those channels are nothing like #windows ;)23:18
jpdsInnerFIRE_: http://www.ubuntu.com/support/services FWIW.23:21
Andre_Gondimwhere are sun-java6-plugins ?23:22
jpdsAndre_Gondim: In partner.23:23
jpds!partner | Andre_Gondim23:23
ubottuAndre_Gondim: Canonical's partner repositories provide packages a location for software vendors to publish applications. The repo itself can be added by running this in a !terminal: « sudo add-apt-repository "deb http://archive.canonical.com/ $(lsb_release -sc) partner" »23:23
BUGabundokklimonda: identica23:26

InnerFIRE_dont need business "help" sound should just work out of the box with ubuntu. it always has with other os/s23:31
BUGabundoInnerFIRE_: looking at the growce of LP bugs, I would say NO23:32
kklimondaInnerFIRE_: have you tried using backported modules and the ubuntu audio dev ppa?23:33
InnerFIRE_whats lp bugs. and ive used synaptic and downloaded backport modules23:34
InnerFIRE_is there something else i should be upgrading to ?23:34
kklimondawell, you can always try the ubuntu audio dev ppa as it has the most recent alsa snapshot at this time. but then the problem may not be related to alsa at all and this isn't really a channel to start a long debugging session not related to maverick23:36
h00k!bug | InnerFIRE_23:36
ubottuInnerFIRE_: If you find a bug in Ubuntu or any of its derivatives, please file a bug using the command « ubuntu-bug <package> » - See https://help.ubuntu.com/community/ReportingBugs for other ways to report bugs - Bugs in/wishes for the IRC bots (not Ubuntu) can be filed at http://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu-bots23:36
h00kInnerFIRE_: launchpad bugs ^23:36
BUGabundoguys, please redirect this to #ubuntu23:38
InnerFIRE_dude this aint just a bug.. its a problem. its all over the internet and nobody can fix it. its been going on for over 3 distros23:41
BUGabundoInnerFIRE_: either file a bug (to colect your data) and idle at #ubuntu-audio-help till crisum has some free time, or hire an ALSA dev23:43
