For some reason, mythtv s fonts are all screwed up on my minimal debian install. I want to try mythubuntu, but I'm curious about the memory req [10:09] I have 512 megs on this box. Will that be okay to launch emulators and play movies? I won't be doing any encoding/decoding [10:10] well, I guess I will be decoding, but only what I watch. Let me know! [11:50] I want to use this PC through a router to load mythbuntu-10.04-desktop-amd64.iso from a CD that I have tested as bootable to a media server. I am using the instructions from https://help.ubuntu.com/community/DisklessUbuntuHowto and I am currently stuck on step 4c. I have assigned both the pxe server and the media server static IPs through the router. [11:50] [help.ubuntu.com] DisklessUbuntuHowto - Community Ubuntu Documentation [11:53] qwebirc1635: is this for an all in one, or frontend system? [11:54] standalone... both frontend and backend [11:54] qwebirc1635: sorry, what is step 4c? [11:54] brb [11:56] # Create default configuration file /tftpboot/pxelinux.cfg/default LABEL linux KERNEL vmlinuz-2.6.15-23-686 APPEND root=/dev/nfs initrd=initrd.img-2.6.15-23-686 nfsroot=192.168.2.2:/nfsroot ip=dhcp rw NOTE1: your nfs server IP address, kernel name, and initrd name will likely be different. If you have a preconfigured system the names should be the names of the kernel and initrd (see below) on the client system NOTE2: [11:59] how do i find the kernel version without installing first? [11:59] off this CD? [12:04] qwebirc1635: You could come back to it [12:04] if you install on a machine infront of you, you can rsync it over to the NFS mount [12:04] then you have all the info you need [12:04] and you have the NFS stuff done :) [12:06] true, didn't think to dual boot this system... Thnx [12:06] I am Igmu Hammerer, if I figure out how to login to IRC with my handle. [12:08] you could also type /nick hammerer [12:08] that'd be a start :) [12:11] thnx, i am chating through http://www.mythbuntu.org/chat, not an IRC client yet. [12:11] chatting [12:12] i know [12:13] there are times where we have quite a few people online who are doing this, and you can imagine how confusing it gets to have five people whose nicks start with qwebirc [12:13] so i advise them to change their nick :) [12:14] thank you, I will boot mybuntu on to this system, it would also allow me to debug, test, deploy updates, etc more successfully [13:15] !help [13:15] !help For a complete list of my knowledge visit: http://www.baablogic.net/Zinn.cgi Other available commands: !status, !about, !bug [bug_number].
