[00:31] hi, how can i enable wobbly windows and the 3d window switcher [00:32] !compiz | totoro [00:32] totoro: Compiz (compositing window manager), for a howto see http://help.ubuntu.com/community/CompositeManager and more help #compiz [00:34] sysi: i have those already, but it doesn't work [00:34] have you set those to be in use? [00:35] with ccsm [00:35] yes, they are in use [00:35] but they don't take effect [00:35] does any effects work? [00:36] no.. [00:36] i have the drivers installed, and it worked fine on gnome, compiz and everything [00:37] compiz and xfce can be tricky combination [00:38] ah, it takes some editing? [00:38] i'm not sure how to do that... [00:38] google knows [00:39] i tried it long enough to see that it won't work with xfwm4 window borders and is irritating to configure [01:36] hello [01:38] after distro upgrade to lucid, there was a grub upgrade too, with the result that i cant boot win7 with grub. can smb help me with that? thank you for help! [04:18] Does anyone here know what the fourth button on the title bar is called? The one that retracts the window into the tittle bar? [04:21] jordan, a PITA? [06:49] hi guys [06:50] i need help [06:51] setting up dialup [06:52] ????? [06:54] ask your question [06:56] i wanna set up dailup using the instructions that come with xubuntu [06:56] i got scanmodem [06:56] but it says i need gedit [06:57] where should i get that from [07:02] and when i want to install gnome network admin, theres an error [07:03] it says "error: dependency is not satisfiable: libiw29 (>= 28+29pre7)" [07:03] can anybody help me please [07:04] SoBe: gedit is just a text editor, it should be under Accessories [07:05] it says i dont have it [07:05] unfortunately I can't really help with dial-up [07:06] the only problem is getting gedit and i dont know what that error means [07:08] libiw29 is a package (http://packages.ubuntu.com/search?keywords=libiw29), and for some reason you can't get the right version [07:08] how are you installing gnome network admin? [07:08] so theres nothing i can do? [07:08] uhm [07:09] the installing thing [07:09] its a .deb so i just double click it and it opens the installation box [07:09] but the error comes up [07:10] and i cant install it [07:12] SoBe: gnome network manager depends on a lot of other things, are you online with this machine? [07:13] no i use dialup [07:13] that's going to be tricky then [07:13] if you really need gnome network manager, there are a lot of packages you need to download and install on the machine [07:13] including libiw29 [07:14] and i need gnome network manager to use gnome network admin? [07:14] I think so, I'm not all that familiar with it [07:15] oh [07:15] then im screwed [07:15] is there any way you can get online elsewhere just to download the packages? [07:15] no its dual booted on my desktop [07:16] i could use my dad's laptop to get the packages, put em in my usb, and transfer them over [07:17] yeah, that's really difficult because it depends on a lot of things [07:17] but until the weekend [07:17] about how much would that be in size? [07:17] I'm really not sure [07:18] sorry :\ [07:18] well my dad has fast internet [07:18] it wouldnt be too hard to put the files in my usb flash drive [07:18] then transfer and install [07:19] by the way im using xubuntu [07:20] are there links to download these packages? [07:21] ? [07:23] SoBe: do you have a regular ubuntu cd? that comes with network manager so you can probably add the cd to synaptic and install it from there [07:24] unfortunately it's late here, time for me to head to bed [07:24] yeah i have a regular ubuntu cd [07:25] what's synaptic? [07:25] so ubuntu has all the packages? [07:34] okay [07:41] alright so can i install gnome network manager from an ubuntu cd using synaptic package manager? === gothenburg is now known as neger === neger is now known as gothenburg [14:52] <_chris__> how can i connect to a windows share ? [19:08] the mouse is a wired USB mouse, the keyboard is PS/2 [19:09] changing USB ports didn't work, btw. [19:16] so there's no idea about that odd problem?
