ubottuPedro: Please don't ask to ask a question, simply ask the question (all on ONE line and in the channel, so that others can read and follow it easily). If anyone knows the answer they will most likely reply. :-)19:23
Pedronive19:23
draikBlueskaj: It is 1 HDMI cable coming out from the box to the TV.19:23
Blueskaj_B_S_, sorry , maybe James147 can help you further , i've run out of ideas19:24
Blueskajdraik, using hdmi out just for audio, no video ?19:25
_B_S_Blueskaj: OK, thanks for trying.19:25
_B_S_James147: Have you a moment for me?19:25
James147_B_S_: Maby :S19:25
draikBlueskaj: I'm using it for both19:26
slow-motionhi19:26
_B_S_James147: Sorry, assumed you followed thread. Have half upgraded karmic -> lucid laptop. Stuck on libcups2 install error. e.g. 'unable to install (supposed) new info file `/var/lib/dpkg/tmp.ci/shlibs': Is a directory'. Please see http://paste.ubuntu.com/452128/.19:27
James147_B_S_: what happens when you run "sudo aptitude install -f"?19:28
Blueskajwell draik , unless it's muted at the tv , but first make sure that your soundcard is the priority in system settings /mmultiedia/19:29
draikBlueskaj: I tested all in the list and none play audio19:30
draikBlueskaj: I do have HDMI as primary19:30
Blueskajerr multimedia19:30
_B_S_james147: same. was using apt-get to K.I.S.S., expecting to run aptitude when hurdle overcome. aptitude wants to upgrade libcups2, and finish configuration of the many screens of not yet configured packages. Dies trying to do libcups2, then spews over unconfigured.19:30
James147_B_S_: cups aint important... you could try removing/purging it19:31
cuatrocientoscua.19:32
Blueskajdraik, try this test in the cli , speaker-test -c2 -Ddefault -t wav19:32
_B_S_James147: Agreed, but attempts to remove it trigger attempt to remove, e.g. all of kde.19:32
_B_S_James147: Try it, for example. apt-get (or aptitude) remove libcups2 - See what it wants to do as a result. (Do say no to proceeding!)19:33
Blueskaj_B_S_, just a thought , disconnect any printers19:34
Blueskajfor now19:34
_B_S_Blueskaj: No printers near the thing at the moment. Last thing I care about is printing, at the moment. (-:19:35
draikBlueskaj: Nothing coming out of my speakers19:35
PedroHi, I´m from Brasil. I had one partition (sda1) with jaunty installed and the home directory was in it. So I decided to separate my personals files from the system files by creating a new partition and installing kubuntu 10.04 on it (sda4). Now I want to mount my home directory that is in sda1 on the new home directory on sda4. I want to know if I can mount only an especific folder of a partition , without having to mount the hole thing19:36
James147Pedro: you need to moung the whole thing... usually people place the contents of /home on a new partition and mount that at /home... however you can use --bind with mount and bind a folder to a new location19:37

Blueskajdraik, then you probly need to make everything is unmuted in alsamixer , make sure there are no Ms in the ctrl boxes , use the M key to unmute.19:42
James147_B_S_: Not sure if all of kde needs cups (i should hope not) so you could try removing it and resolving the dependency manually in aptitude :S I think your problem might be kubuntu-desktop depends on cups... if you let that be removing but try to keep the other stuff it depends on19:42
draikBlueskaj: Already assured of that19:43

apparledraik: what happened20:14
draikapparle: I'm running my audio via HDMI (along with my video) but I no longer get audio output.20:15

draikYes, it was previously working, apparle20:16
apparledraik: then what did you do to stop it :)20:16
apparledraik: I mean did yo install any package or a new kernel or a distro upgrade etc20:16
_B_S_libcups2 won't die. " Package is in a very bad inconsistent state - you should reinstall it before attempting a removal." It won't upgrade, remove, purge, or install.20:17
trupheenixi can't seem to change my theme to oxygen20:17

draikapparle: I've installed quite a few things. There was also a new kernel involved. I don't know when it would have occurred, to be honest.20:17

apparleBlueskaj: that's old, now java is not there in extras, its moved partner repos20:29

Blueskajsome ppl toyally bypass NM and use /etc/network/interfaces settings exclusively to connect, apparle20:38
