SarmadQuestion: I used to request free CDs and distribute them mostly to computer professional who haven't tried Ubuntu before. Now I can see "becoming an Ubuntu member by contributing to Ubuntu, and thereby becoming eligible for more CDs". Kindly tell me how I can contribute and how eligibility process works?09:27
ari-tczewfabrice_sp: thanks for sponsoring09:47
ari-tczewhow can I hide my IP address on IRC?09:57
geserari-tczew: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/IRC/Cloaks09:58
ari-tczewthanks geser09:59
ari-tczewgeser: I'm not an Ubuntu Member directly. is it a problem?10:09
gesershouldn't be10:09
fabrice_spari-tczew, yw. Did you saw my post on bug 598684 ?10:12
ubottuLaunchpad bug 598684 in libdecodeqr (Ubuntu) "Sync libdecodeqr 0.9.3-3 (universe) from Debian unstable (main)" [Undecided,Incomplete] https://launchpad.net/bugs/59868410:12
fabrice_spyou can upload the Debian package to your ppa, and see what happends10:12
ari-tczewfabrice_sp: just saw it. please don't think that I'm not test build, because I have i386 architecture.10:12
ari-tczews/not/did not10:13
fabrice_spno: that's why when I find a FTBFS, I always ask the bug reporter to check10:13
fabrice_spthis difference between adm64 and i386 is what made me insall the amd64 variant10:13
fabrice_spwith adm64, you can build 32/64 bits10:14
fabrice_spand also sbuild, as pbuilder sometimes builds fine but sbuild fails10:14
fabrice_spand sbuild is nearer from buildds than pbuilder10:15
ari-tczewfabrice_sp: did you tried sbuild for this one?10:15
fabrice_spI always uses sbuild10:16
* fabrice_sp switeched to lvm partitions to be able to use sbuild some time ago10:17
fabrice_sps/switeched/switched10:17
ari-tczewfabrice_sp: hmm, what do you think, B-D on libavformat-dev will fix the issue?10:18
fabrice_spari-tczew, I don't think so: it seems to be only a missing function, and not a missing build-dep10:19
fabrice_spso perhaps the function is not experted anymore in libavformat10:19
fabrice_sps/experted/exported/10:19
ari-tczewfabrice_sp: then we can't sync this one. closing bug?10:20
fabrice_spwe have to wait until this issue is fixed10:20
fabrice_spI'm seing that during latest build test, player also FTBFS with the same error10:20
fabrice_spon amd64, also10:21
BlackZplease, someone could ACK bug #598874 ?10:21
ubottuLaunchpad bug 598874 in libmpc (Ubuntu) "Please sync libmpc 2:0.1~r459-1 (universe) from debian unstable (main)" [Wishlist,New] https://launchpad.net/bugs/59887410:21
ari-tczewfabrice_sp: hehe I'm watching on it also right now10:21
fabrice_spBlackZ, this was the next sync request I was going to check10:22
fabrice_spbut I have some stuff to do before, wo probably will check it this afternoon10:22

sniderDKhello all, a fellow php-gtk developer and I wish to maintain a php-gtk package (with its extras) is the best way to get them into the universe to start a PPA and get back in touch when thats been going for awhile?13:31
tsimpsonthe best way is to use revu13:33
tsimpson!revu13:33
ubottuREVU is a web-based tool to give people who have worked on Ubuntu packages a chance to "put their packages out there" for other people to look at and comment on in a structured manner. See https://wiki.ubuntu.com/MOTU/Packages/REVU13:33
sniderDKthank you very much, thats perfect13:34
LaneysniderDK: I see that there is a Debian request for packaging, you should probably look to maintaining it there13:39
Laneysee http://wiki.debian.org/PHP#ForpackagersofPHPapplications.2BAC8-modules.2BAC8-libraries13:39
nigelbsoren: can you moderate my mail to #ubuntu-motu? (accidentally sent from @gmail instead of @ubuntu)15:44
ScottKnigelb: It's generally easier to just cancel the post and send it again.15:58
geseris the ubuntu-motu ML moderated at all?15:59
nigelbScottK: contemplating that15:59
ScottKgeser: You have to be subscribed to post.15:59

shadeslayerquestion for MOTU's , why cant we upload a new version mentioned in bug 56520617:12
ubottuLaunchpad bug 565206 in scidavis (Ubuntu) "Please update to 0.2.4 as it fixes compatibility issues with qt 4.6" [Undecided,Confirmed] https://launchpad.net/bugs/56520617:12
shadeslayerwe have a debdiff and all for the package17:13
JontheEchidnashadeslayer: comment 3 answers that quite well. It'd be easier to wait for debian to upload, then sync17:16
JontheEchidnathough it hasn't been sponsored in debian for a few months now...17:17
shadeslayerJontheEchidna: i saw the comment, but still, the package has been on mentors.debian since a month and no one has looked in it17:17
* shadeslayer pokes around on oftc17:17
JontheEchidna6 MB debdiffs are unweildy, blegh17:17
Laneydebdiffs arent suitable for new upstream releases17:18
shadeslayerLaney: true17:23
shadeslayerJontheEchidna: i gave Riddell a 5MB diff recently :P17:23
shadeslayeri think it was for kptc... not sure :D17:23
ScottKshadeslayer: It's not true no one looked at it on mentors.  I did and mailed the maintainer some comments, but I don't see it got updated.18:16
shadeslayerScottK: oh.. i thought mentors had a comment section like debian?18:16
shadeslayers/debian/revu18:17

fabrice_spBlackZ, libmpcdec seems to have been deprecated in favor of libmpc19:02
fabrice_sp(libmpc is not in squeeze anymore)19:03
fabrice_sps/libmpc/libmpcdec/19:03
BlackZfabrice_sp: did you see my sync request?19:03
fabrice_spBlackZ, yes. that's why I checked the 2 packages19:03
fabrice_spas libmpcdec is in main, it's not so easy19:04
BlackZfabrice_sp: so what should we do?19:04
fabrice_spcheck rdepends on libmpcdec319:04
fabrice_spand try to build them with libmpc packages19:04
BlackZfabrice_sp: I checked that with quadrispro19:04
BlackZ(yeah, there are a lot of packages)19:05
fabrice_sp15 packages19:07
fabrice_spBlackZ, I've just commented on the bug, and updated the bug report so that it affect also libmpcdec19:13
fabrice_splet see what happens19:14
BlackZfabrice_sp: however that situation should be really solved soon19:14
fabrice_spas it involve a main package, it will take a bit more time19:14
fabrice_spdo you have a list of packages that FTBFS because of that?19:15
BlackZfabrice_sp: currently no19:15
BlackZbut I indicated a bug on the sync request19:16
BlackZs/on/in19:16

fabrice_spdupondje, did you see that bhavani posted an updated  debdiff19:41
dupondjeyea I saw :) got an email :p19:42
fabrice_spshall I upload it?19:42
dupondjedidn't check it yet, but if its good ...19:42
fabrice_spit's just that you did a first work, and it's a pitty not to follow up19:43
fabrice_sphowever, this is the second time that Bhavani jump on an exisitng bug to post an upstated debdiff ,without letting the original reporter to post a new ine19:43
fabrice_spso I was going to ask him to speak with the original reporter, before posting19:44
dupondjewill check his patch in some minutes19:44
dupondjegot to do something else first :)19:44
fabrice_spnp: I have to lunch :-) bbl19:44
dupondjefabrice_sp: patch seems fine20:04
fabrice_spdupondje, even if the patch seems fine, would you like to attach your own debdiff, or shall I upload the one from Bhavani?20:46
dupondjefeel free to upload his20:47
dupondjeits quite useless to create the same one again imo :)20:47

BlackZfabrice_sp: ptlib is uploaded now, the other dependence to merge is opal, coolbhavi said he's on it21:07
fabrice_spBlackZ, did you checked that there is no more dependencies required21:08
ScottKgeser: python-defaults (and python3-defaults) are merged now so the stack of packages that were depwait on those should start to clear.21:08
BlackZfabrice_sp: seems not21:08
geserScottK: thanks21:08
BlackZfabrice_sp: no worries about that, I'll try a build of it once opal is uploaded21:09
fabrice_spBlackZ, ok21:09
ScottKlucas: I am noticing there are more than a couple packages that FTBFS due to docbook dtd changes in KDE.  The build logs all have "make[3]: *** [doc/en/index.cache.bz2] Error 1" in them.  I was wondering if you could teach the rebuild system about that so it doesn't just yield [UNKNOWN] XXX for the error.  kcheckgmail in the latest rebuild is an example.21:17
