macohmm there's one other chick in the dc loco...15:20
macoshould get her to help with the table at the folk festival, since i wont be there this year15:21
macoand then maybe get someone to suggest membership to her15:21
AlanBellgiving people responsibilities is good15:27
jledbetter_Folk festival? Neat.15:32
macojledbetter_: takoma park folk festival15:35
macoDC LoCo's been there the last 4 years15:35
macolast year we had a redhatter with us. she works on OLPC stuff and our loco contact has some OLPCs that he put out to show "and these run linux too" (little green laptops attract crowds)15:36
jledbetter_Reminds me of akgraner's goat festival post.15:36
macoresulted in amusingness with her explaining ubuntu to people and ubuntu people explaining fedora/sugar/olpc to people15:36
jledbetter_Hehe15:36
macojledbetter_: http://ubuntulinuxtipstricks.blogspot.com/2009/09/takoma-park-folk-festival-great-success.html15:37
macojledbetter_: its a great chance to reach out to nongeeks15:38
macobecause at the geeky events, people have already heard of ubuntu. this lets us talk to people who are into sharing and communal-everything but who dont necessarily read computer magazines15:39
macoand apparently we're confirmed for this year too http://tpff.org/10/community_tables.htm15:40
macobut OLF is that weekend15:40
jledbetter_Well, hopefully Virginia loco gets a little more active. If not, there's a unix group here that I have yet to attend. Happens on the same night as Toastmasters.15:40
jledbetter_maco: The sign is a great idea too and tent. Very nice.15:40
jledbetter_Ah. I wondered if there was a cost.15:40
macoits about $100 i think to be able to have a table at TPFF15:45
macokevin has paid it each year15:45
jledbetter_Sounds like a good increase in turnout too each year.15:45
macoin 2007 kevin noticed that when i wandered off for food, women stopped coming to the table15:45
macoso thats why i want to make sure that other chick is there15:46
jledbetter_Interesting15:47
czajkowskijledbetter_: hey21:15
czajkowskijledbetter_: thanks for using the new tag :)21:16
jledbetter_czajkowski: You're welcome :)21:20
czajkowskijledbetter_: if you need a hand with anything just ask21:20
czajkowskijledbetter_: the loco council will try and help21:20
jledbetter_czajkowski: Thank you. Will do. I've a few months to see what I can do with the Virginia loco ;)21:21
czajkowskijledbetter_: cool, hang out also in #ubuntu-loocteams and meet others plus more council folks around to ask21:22
jledbetter_czajkowski: Just joined it not long ago. Think I saw it in one of the emails.21:23
czajkowskijledbetter_: great :)21:24
macoAlanBell: im confused22:31
AlanBellhow can I de-befuddle you maco?22:31
macoAlanBell: im looking at the spreadsheet and it has the same data as before... except now it has another targets/progress sheet... but the data sheet's not been updated22:32
AlanBellah, indeed it hasn't22:32
AlanBellbecause the data is now more automated, coming from launchpadlib22:32
AlanBelland then into an openoffice.org spreadsheet that crunches it a bit22:33
AlanBelland out pops a number22:33
AlanBellI then put that into the google docs spreadsheet and it automagically updates the graphs that are already embedded in the wiki page22:33
AlanBellso just using Google Docs as a graphing and graph publishing tool really22:34
AlanBellideally, if I was clever I would do the analysis stuff in Google docs and use the python google docs library to update the whole thing end to end in one script22:35
macooh22:36
AlanBellhttp://people.ubuntu.com/~alanbell/lplist.py22:37
macoAlanBell: think putting 5 as a target for N-N would be reasonable? doubt we'd make it for Mav22:38
AlanBellhttp://people.ubuntu.com/~alanbell/members.ods <- not quite the latest one22:38
AlanBellI wouldn't object to that as a target, but I think targets have to be set by the group22:41
AlanBellI would object to anything not specific, measurable, attainable, realistic and timed22:42
AlanBellI am very much in favour of targets existing22:43
macooffline time for me22:43
AlanBello/22:43
AlanBellI think when we started looking at this in October 2009 with a value of 4.5% a target of 5% by April 2011 would not have seemed very ambitious22:48
AlanBellsince 2005 it was rising at 0.5% per release22:49
AlanBellif that continued from Karmic at 4.5% we would be looking at 6% for N-N22:49
Dolasillahi all! I have a question: I was about to manage the page http://wiki.ubuntu-women.com/It/ to correct a mistake, but I see it's targeted as immutable... :| why?22:54
Dolasillas/targeted/tagged22:55
AlanBellvarious parts of the wiki are locked down at the moment, it is being worked on as I understand it.22:55
AlanBellpleia2 will be able to unlock it for you22:55
pleia2yep, hang on22:56
Dolasillahi pleia2 :)22:56
Dolasillathanks!22:56
pleia2unfortunately our first ACL test isn't perfect, since moin is very aggressive about caching, so even if we had a spammer go after something removing them from the ubuntuwomen team wouldn't be enough since moin would still remember them as an ok user22:57
pleia2Dolasilla: was it just http://wiki.ubuntu-women.com/It or subpages too?22:57
Dolasillammmm...let me check22:57
pleia2just give me a list and I can open them up, sorry for the trouble22:58
Dolasillapleia2, no worries!22:59
Dolasillahttp://wiki.ubuntu-women.com/It/Progetti22:59
pleia2done23:00
Dolasillapleia2, I'm sending a mail to you, not to paste the list here in the chan23:01
pleia2ok :)23:01
AlanBellpleia2: shout if you need any help or ideas on a more permanent solution. I am pretty sure something using Moin ACLs and launchpadlib to read data out of launchpad (like the script to work out percentages does) and write out a moin wiki page (like my experimental mootbot does) would work without caching issues23:05
pleia2AlanBell: we're actually leaning toward opening it up to all lp people again, but being granted shell access to some specific "ban users" files23:06
pleia2I have shell access on the box already, just sorting out permissions23:06
AlanBellsounds good23:07
pleia2I didn't actually want it locked down to just team members, but it was seeming like a feasible solution for a little while23:07
pleia2thanks for offering :) we might still use ACLs some and I'll be sure to ask if I get stuck23:08
AlanBellcreating pages is locked down at the moment too23:08
pleia2yeah, akgraner elky and myself still have to be the ones to do that23:08
pleia2if others want Admin we can grant it23:08
pleia2hmm, AlanBell care to be a guinea pig for a moment?23:09
AlanBellsure23:09
pleia2ok, go to a page you couldn't edit before, refresh and see if you can23:09
AlanBellI can23:10
pleia2\o/23:10
pleia2can you create pages?23:10
pleia2Dolasilla: turns out I can add you to an editors page, what's your launchpad id?23:10
AlanBellhttp://wiki.ubuntu-women.org/foo23:10
pleia2yay :)23:11
pleia2ok, I'll just start adding people to the editor group instead of adding the open acls everywhere23:11
pleia2unless it's the agenda page, that should be open23:12
AlanBellthat sounds good23:12
AlanBellI think the agenda page should be slightly less open than it is23:12
pleia2it's open to everyone on lp at the moment23:12
AlanBellooh, I can fix it :-)23:13
pleia2which I think is what we're going back to anyway23:13
AlanBellyeah, but they don't all need admin rights to it23:14
pleia2is revert and admin thing?23:14
Dolasillapleia2, sorry didn't read: silvia-bindelli23:14
pleia2s/and/an23:15
AlanBellit was #acl Known:read,write,revert All:read23:15
pleia2yeah23:15
pleia2we don't want them to revert?23:15
AlanBellsorry, no it was #acl Known:admin,read,write,revert All:read23:15
pleia2aah, yeah, we don't want admin23:15
pleia2thanks :)23:15
pleia2Dolasilla: can you refresh http://wiki.ubuntu-women.org/It/Contatti and see if you can edit it now?23:16
Dolasillapleia2, nope....it's still immutable23:16
pleia2hmm, maybe try logging out and logging in again23:17
Dolasillaoki23:17
Dolasillapleia2, now it works!23:18
Dolasillapleia2,...and others pages are editable too, thanks!23:19
pleia2great :)23:19
pleia2there were a lot of wonky acls here23:38
pleia2I think it's all sorted now though23:38
pleia2(akgraner you now have 23432 wiki update emails, you're welcome!)23:39
