[16:23] hi there [16:24] i am trying to install ubuntu on to my igepv2 (beagle board clone) but I cant even runt the sd card preparations scripts [16:24] my card appears as mmcblk0 [16:25] I donwloaded a new version of the script that should support mmcblk0 but it doesnt work [16:26] the result is always this [16:26] http://pastebin.ubuntu.com/458791/ [16:26] when i do fdisk -l the card is there [16:26] i am following this page [16:26] http://elinux.org/BeagleBoardUbuntu [16:31] i will do it manually, if someone can tell me wich files go to to wich partition [16:35] rlameiro: you'll have to wait until ogra, rcn-ee, and other ubuntu devs answer you [16:36] and asac the slacker [16:46] rlameiro (i see your offline.. hopefully you read the logs) email the beaglboard group with the bug.. I'll be enjoying july 4th, but will check email.. ;) [16:53] rlameiro: rlameiro (i see your offline.. hopefully you read the logs) email the beaglboard group with the bug.. I'll be enjoying july 4th, but will check email.. ;) [16:53] !seen dmart [16:53] I have no seen command [16:53] you suck [16:53] !seen doko [16:54] oops [16:54] i think my irc connection droped [16:54] thanks armin76 [16:54] i will look at the logs [16:55] rlameiro: he means you'll read the logs for what he said(what i pasted you) [16:55] yes [16:55] he didn't say anything else :P [16:56] ohhh [16:56] welll i will need to wait then [16:56] what is the mailing list? [16:57] i have no clue... [17:21] rlameiro: You could also try the latest daily image (post Alpha 2) on http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/ubuntu-netbook/ports/daily-preinstalled/ [17:23] GrueMaster: well, the problem is how do i set up it to boot from the sd card [17:23] Instructions are here: http://testcases.qa.ubuntu.com/Install/ARM/PreinstalledImage [17:26] I don't know much about the igepv2, but the sd card has xloader & uboot on the boot partition. [17:26] GrueMaster: well, igepv2 is a beagleboard with more features [17:28] rlameiro: i think you need to set the board to boot from sd, then it will load the bootloader and stuff from it [17:29] armin76: yes, it has a boot sequence [17:29] as i see now, the image has all the formating and stuff needed [17:29] i am downloading and testing [17:29] problem is that it is really big, and i dont want a GUI, but i will figure thet out later [17:30] how much ram does the system have? [17:31] 515 [17:32] *512 sorry [17:32] its 512/512 [17:32] cool. [17:32] i would like to install a minimal ubuntu withou gui just on the nand [17:32] The image is a bit slow on the beagleboard because of the 256M limitation. [17:33] Well, this image is a netbook image, but it should give you some ideas as to how to get an image built. [17:34] GrueMaster: my goal is to try to do a netinstall [17:34] and apt-geting what i need on the way [17:34] I'm not sure if there is a new netinstall image available. let me look. It would be on ports.ubuntu.com [17:35] it could be awesome if there is some prebuitl image for netinstall image [17:37] Well, there are 3 files at http://ports.ubuntu.com/dists/maverick/main/installer-armel/current/images/omap/netboot/omap/ [17:38] You could pull them and use them to do a netinstall. I haven't tested them yet, but they should work. [17:38] GrueMaster: so do i format the sd card with a fat partion for boot and the rest as extended3? [17:38] and copy the 3 files to the boot partition? [17:39] * rlameiro i hate when i forget to use the theraded bunziper... grrrr [17:40] The netboot files need to be on a fat partition, but once they boot, you could reformat the SD card and install on it. I don't know how well it will work, though,as the lucid version installed the kernel & initrd to nand. [17:42] well, I'm copying the image to the sd card [17:42] i will look at the structure and then try the other way [17:54] hummm [17:54] it says OneNAND unsupported [18:00] rlameiro: which kernel do you use? [18:01] no idea [18:02] ssvb: i dont really know [18:02] i can tell you the kernel that comes with the board by default on the nand [18:02] its of the poky linux [18:03] ok, it's the original igepv2 kernel then [18:03] https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/mtd-utils/+bug/583280 [18:03] Launchpad bug 583280 in mtd-utils (Ubuntu) "nandwrite failing with IGEPv2 (OMAP 3430) (affects: 1) (heat: 84)" [Undecided,Confirmed] [18:04] ssvb: Linux igep0020 2.6.28.10 armv71 [18:04] igepv2 has a bit nonstandard nand configuration (it uses two chips unless I'm mistaken) [18:04] so the kernel and mtd-utils need some patches to support it [18:06] hummm [18:06] well its a chip with 2 banks [18:06] * ssvb is not using nand on igepv2, but boots the system from the hard drive, so can't help much [18:09] so at the moment i am stuck [18:11] rlameiro: blame asac :D [18:12] armin76: asac i am stuck :D lol [18:40] * zumbi has seen a igepv2 running openembedded [19:44] zumbi: there are some ppl having them with gentoo, ssvb for example :D === rsalveti-afk is now known as rsalveti [22:41] well i am still stuck at "freeing init memory [22:42] and followed the igepv2 wiki, and made my own rootfs with karmic [22:42] maybe i should do it with jaunty..
