ddecatorhggdh: strange, i've had it off-and-on for a while now (maybe a couple of months) but i hadn't realized how often it happened until i started to really go through my bug mail...hm :/01:30

Pa_trick17I will show more bravery now and am going to set the package to "ubuntu-docs" now. If you think I'm doing wrong please write me or set the correct package by yourself. Thx09:23

xelisterhi, well ubuntu overall does not work well with GFX cards13:18
xelisterradeons - crashes, freezes often13:18
xelisternvidia - the same13:18
xelisteris there any use in reporting such bugs... is anyone doing any real work?13:18
=== yofel_ is now known as yofel
yofelxelister: what cards and what release? I have a few nvidia cards and they work fine with the nvidia drivers from the repository, sure it's not a X / Application issue?13:35
xelisteryofel: all13:41
xelisteryofel: all that I ever seen, so summ it up. Now Im testing on 10.04 on some radeon and nvidia and intell and some 2 other cards13:41
xelisteron livecd's (9.10, non-propertiary) the refresh rate and/or resolution is bad usually13:42
xelisteron normal setup (10.04, propertiary drivers) they like to hang sooner or later, especially:  radeon - on switching VTs (often) ; and nvidia - rarerly - when switching VTs and memory pressure is huge13:42
xelisterso is there some team dedicated to make ubutnu finally support GFX card with a good quality by default, that will really investiagate such reports or is it waste of time to report13:43
yofelhm, 9.10 should still use NV I think, nouveau is an improvement at least (10.04 upwards)13:44
xelisterI have reproducable cases of this radeon hanging.  If someone will really investigate with me (some devel), then I could help with testing13:44
xelistersame goes to nvidia that hangs on memory pressure13:44
yofelmaybe ask in #ubuntu-x or for nvidia search on http://www.nvnews.net/vbulletin/forumdisplay.php?f=14 first13:45
yofelalso you could try the nvidia 256 drivers from the x-updates ppa on lucid13:46
xelisterI dont want to complain too much13:46
xelisterbut for years, always, you can find so much problems with even GFX support.  its not so motivating when for years same problems go on13:47
vishseb128: could you comment on Bug 540826 ? bilal has a branch which he says doesnt break translations .. not sure what to do there..14:29
ubot2Launchpad bug 540826 in indicator-session (Ubuntu) (and 4 other projects) "Rename "Suspend" to "Sleep" (affects: 5) (heat: 22)" [Wishlist,In progress] https://launchpad.net/bugs/54082614:29
seb128I will14:30
vishseb128: thanks.14:30

abhi_nav!ping19:02
ubot2pong19:02
arandabhi_nav: As much as you want to give, really, all depending on how much you want to get involved.19:02

hggdhabhi_nav: half-hour is good.19:05
hggdhmore is better ;-)19:05
arandI don't know if time is a good measure for it really, number of bugs.. maybe, although they vary a lot in complexity of triaging...19:05
abhi_nav_arand, i was disconnected. can you tell me half hour ok ?19:06
abhi_nav_arand, ok19:06
arandabhi_nav_: 20:05 < hggdh> abhi_nav: half-hour is good.19:06

pedro_QA team meeting in ~3 minutes at #ubuntu-quality19:57
ddecatorwoot!19:57
pedro_hello ddecator ;-)19:58
ddecatorhola pedro_ :)19:58
ddecatorpedro_: btw, we came up with a possibility for the wiki. not an ideal solution, but i'll try it after the meeting and send out an email asking for opinions if it works19:59
pedro_ddecator, great!, looking forward to that email ;-)19:59
micromixhey guys i an wondering how would we find out who fixes bugs for packages, do they have adopt a package like we do?21:02
hggdhmicromix: the fix may come from upstream, not from us; also *anyone* can propose a patch21:25
hggdhmicromix: and it is not necessary to adopt a package to work on fixes21:26
hggdhalthough it helps to concentrate on a subset -- you have to learn the code, and understand it21:26
micromixhggdh: i was just curious to know what happens when we finish triage a bug21:27
hggdhah21:27
micromixif it eventually reaches a developer21:27
micromixor maybe we need to try to fix bugs ourselves21:27
hggdhyes, eventually it reaches one. May take some time, since we are all quite busy21:27
hggdhand, as I said above, *anyone* can work on a fix. We prefer fixes that the package developers approve21:28
hggdhso -- for example -- if I write a fix for er, Evolution, then I should also propose it upstream21:29
micromixthats good, i like evolution :D21:29
hggdhheh21:30
hggdhI love/hate it21:30
hggdhjcastro: ping?21:30
micromixdo we have a any sort of policy with regards to the developers though21:31
micromixlets say i adopted a package21:32
hggdhok?21:32
micromixcheckgmail *cough21:32
micromixand i wanted to make sure i was giving the proper degugging info21:32
micromixjust go in #motu and ask?21:32
micromixor lets say to let the developer to know that i am subscribed to those bugs in a package21:33
hggdhdepends21:33
hggdhwho is the developer for checkgmail?21:33
micromixerm21:34
micromixok a next question then21:34
hggdhyou probably can find it on the source package, or on LP21:34
micromixhow would i find that out21:34
hggdhin the package source, look at the AUTHORS file (there should be one)21:34
hggdhalso, perhaps it has a ./debian/watch, which will tell us where the upstream source comes from21:35
hggdhthen it is a question of 'google is your friend'21:36
hggdhalso, we sync/merge a lot from Debian21:36
micromixit did not have a authors file..21:37
micromixbut still good idea21:37
hggdhbut 'google is your friend' works: the very first hit for 'checkgmail' is http://checkgmail.sourceforge.net/21:37
hggdhso this is the upstream for it21:38
micahgmicromix: packages.ubuntu.com has an upstream link for packages as well21:38
hggdhgood call, micahg :-)21:39
micahgs/upstream/Homepage/21:39
jcastrohggdh: pong21:39
hggdhjcastro: I have to develop a branding for the Ubuntu server (triage, testing, QA-ing, etc), and... guess what name came to my humble mind (that might give me some pointers)?21:41
micromixwell thanks guys21:46
jcastrohggdh: jono!21:47
jcastrohggdh: :D21:47
jcastrohggdh: sure, can you hit me over mail though? kind of overwhelmed with font stuff until EOD21:48
hggdhjcastro: will do, thank you21:48
Kangarooowhats the name of programm that looks like bug icon in https://wiki.ubuntu.com/DesktopExperienceTeam/ApplicationIndicators?action=AttachFile&do=get&target=disaster.png ?22:12
micromixwhat do we do with sigsegv bugs?22:45
Kangaroooi also want to know22:52
micahgKubuntu Bug Triage training session in #kubuntu-devel23:20
micahgbdmurray: around?23:46
bdmurraymicahg: yes23:52
