=== maco is now known as maco2 === nhandler_ is now known as nhandler === radoe_ is now known as radoe [14:32] according to the docs if i want an IRC cloak i should come and ask for it here ... anyone tell me the proceedure ? [14:32] apw: Are you an Ubuntu Member? [14:34] rww, sure am, got that as part of becoming an uploader [14:35] jussi, Pici: see above, and https://launchpad.net/~apw/+participation [14:41] apw: Let me grab a staffer to enable your cloak. One moment. [14:43] apw: Could you just make sure that you have an email set on your nickserv account. [14:43] apw: see /msg nickserv help set email [14:43] Pici, ack [14:46] Pici, its in progress ... [18:27] Got a question [18:27] Can someone tell me the history of #ubuntu-youth ? [18:27] If it was properly set up and all [18:28] I recently acquired the lead position of the group/team [18:28] It was. [18:28] jpds: Haha [18:28] Then Micheal had it's registation dropped so that he could register it. [18:28] Ok that's goofy [18:28] zkriesse: Was ist so lustig? [18:29] Wah? [18:29] zkriesse: It was something funky with ops that he couldn't work out. [18:30] Ok [18:31] jpds: Also, I was wondering if i could make a #ubuntu-youth-council without having to register it with freenode? [18:31] Your choice. [18:31] Meaning? My choice to make it or my choice to register it with the freenode staf [18:32] Because I know that ##channel does not have to be... #channel does [18:36] Any input on that? [18:38] zkriesse: You may want to take a look at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/IRC/IrcCouncil/Coordination [18:38] thanks Pici [18:39] zkriesse: Umm.... I am lead arent I? [19:05] Sorry Pici and jpds forgot to say thanks for the info [20:51] Hi, who do I ask to have ubot2 put onto #lubuntu / [20:52] phillw: /whois ubot2 === k1l_ is now known as k1l [21:08] jpds: [21:08] From now on you’ll see ubottu in the main (core) channels, and a couple of others. The ubot2 and ubot4 bots will take over many of the channels ubottu was in, and we’ve introduced 3 new “lubotu” bots for LoCo channels. You can see a full list of IRC bots and the channels they’re in on the Ubuntu wiki.ubot2 will take over Team channels A-L [21:08] ubot2 is in such channels as #ubuntu-beginners, #ubuntu-beginners-wiki etc. [21:08] phillw: Error: I am only a bot, please don't think I'm intelligent :) [21:09] dear ubot2, we never make that error ;-) [21:11] jpds: yup, that's the bot I'm asking for - who do i ask for it to join #lubuntu? [21:17] phillw: did you actually type /whois ubot2 ? :-) [21:17] jpds' statement wasn't a question [21:19] guntbert: yes i did, [21:19] Nick: ubot2 [21:19] Username: ~ubot2@unaffiliated/jpds/bot/ubot2 [21:19] Real name: ubot2 :: #ubuntu-irc [21:19] Server: holmes.freenode.net (London, UK) [21:19] Currently on: #ubuntu-beginners #ubuntu-irc #ubuntu-beginners-wiki [21:19] which tells me exactly a big fat zero of who to ask :-( [21:19] and there you see who is the contact for that bot [21:20] (hint: look at the part after unaffiliated) [21:20] ahh, I love this cryptic stuff :-\ [21:21] phillw: I looked on the website mentioned and that tipped me off :-) [21:22] jpds: what do you need / I need to ask for ubot2 to join #lubuntu? bear in mind that I have only a very basic knowledge of the bots. [21:22] * phillw thinks alanbell is enjoying this ;-) [21:26] sigh, never mind [21:57] * jpds walks back onto IRC. [21:58] jpds: your last answer created a bit confusion :-) [21:59] You have to teach people how to fish, not just give them the fish. [22:01] jpds: it was only a statement, no critcism :-) [22:01] guntbert: I didn't take it as such. [22:02] It's just something nalioth taught me ages ago. [22:02] jpds: :) [22:23] phillw: jpds was back some time ago [22:24] guntbert: Er weiss. [22:25] Wouldn't it be ubot5 for #lubuntu since it isn't in our namespace ? [22:29] nhandler: ubot2 falls in the A-L :-) [22:30] phillw: Yes, but #lubuntu isn't in our namespace (just like #launchpad) [22:30] nhandler: well, ubot2 is living there & I do hope it remains there :-) [22:31] .... /whois ubot2 [22:32] phillw: They are all ubottu clones, so it shouldn't really matter which bot is in the channel [22:32] if it good enough for you rather demanding people at #ubuntu-beginners, I'm really grateful of having of having it on #lubuntu [22:32] indeed, it is about sharing the load.
