charlie-tcaDaekdroom: what was the trigger?00:22
Daekdroomcharlie-tca, starting to play a track in rhythmbox or switching it increases its memory usage.00:23
charlie-tcaweird00:23
DaekdroomI don't mean rhythmbox's, I mean indicator's.00:23
DaekdroomIndeed.00:23
charlie-tcaWe are seeing the memory usage go high using xfce4-notifyd too00:23
charlie-tcaThanks though.00:24
Daekdroomcharlie-tca, is there a bug filed on it already?00:24
charlie-tcaon notifyd there is00:25
DaekdroomWhich bug entry?00:25
charlie-tcahttps://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/60747400:26

ubottuLaunchpad bug 606994 in xfce4-notifyd (Ubuntu Lucid) "xfce4-notify doesn't support notification specs 1.1" [Medium,In progress]00:26
charlie-tcaWe duped it because the developers are working to fix the newer one; got the fix in Maverick already and are doing a SRU to Lucid00:27
DaekdroomI'm not sure if it's the same bug.00:28
charlie-tcaI know that feeling, too00:31
charlie-tcaI had hopes they were the same, or at least could get us in the area. I hope to hear tomorrow if it got fixed for the reporter00:32

JVizi'm trying to run wow on ubuntu maverick, and it crashes. I looked up the problem wine's website, and it appears to be a kernel patch in the latest kernel causing it to crash. has anyone else had this problem? how did you solve it? is it possible to install an older generic kernel?07:44
JVizare there .debs for older kernels anywhere?08:03
void^in lucid repos, presumably.08:04
JVizty08:09
geserLP has the previous kernel debs from maverick too08:23

Daekdroomdart, it has already been reported16:06
dartoh....has it been solved???16:06
Daekdroomdart, and, well, you can kill nautilus process16:06
DaekdroomNot solved.16:06
Daekdroombug 174809 in launchpad16:07
ubottuLaunchpad bug 174809 in nautilus (Ubuntu) "Nautilus using more and more memory (depending on the system up-time)" [Medium,Triaged] https://launchpad.net/bugs/17480916:07
dartwats the command?? nautilus -q?16:07
Daekdroomkillall nautilus16:07
DaekdroomIt'll restart right away with about 12MB usage16:08
dartya its 20mb for me16:08
dartit ate half of my swap memory16:08
Daekdroomdart, is your indicator-applet leaking?16:10
dartDaekdroom, may be i m not sure....indicator appmenu is 12.5 mb and indicator applet complete is 3.5 mb16:12

funkyHatAnyone heard anything about fglrx? ⢁D. I'm still using 2.6.32 and Lucid's X.19:58
patdk-wkfun20:00
patdk-wkgrub updated and killed my maverick system :(20:01
Jordan_Upatdk-wk: How so?20:50
vishare there no -dbgsym packages in maverick?20:55
BUGabundothere are20:57
BUGabundoddebs?20:57
BUGabundoI heard it changed20:57
BUGabundoI think it was Pici20:57
BUGabundosomething about LP retracer now doing it all alone20:57
vishsomething is weird , the ddebs only have -dbg ones..20:58
theoctagonhi20:58
vishthere is only one -dbgsym package in the ddebs repo.20:58
theoctagonhere I am20:58
Jordan_Utheoctagon: Ok, what problem are you having with btrfs and booting exactly? Any error messages?20:59
theoctagonJordan_U: so here is what I did - booted the ubuntu 10.10 live cd20:59
theoctagonJordan_U: and then installed the btrfs-tools to be able to create a / partition with btrfs20:59
Jordan_Utheoctagon: I don't think that the liveCD supports installing to btrfs, use the alternate install CD.21:00
patdk-wkJordan_U, heh, grub menu pops up, any kernel I select it goes to a black screen, and that is all21:00
theoctagonJordan_U: well there is a known issue that you cannot create btrfs fses during installation process21:01
Jordan_Utheoctagon: ...except with the alternate install CD.21:01
Jordan_Upatdk-wk: Even recovery mode entries?21:01
theoctagonJordan_U: that'll be worth a try :)21:01
patdk-wkyep21:02
vishBUGabundo: how to search packages?  forgot the linky..21:02
theoctagonJordan_U: but not today - it is late in germany :P21:02
BUGabundo!packages21:02
ubottuYou can browse and search for Ubuntu packages using !Synaptic, !KPackageKit, !Adept, "apt-cache search <keywords or regex>", or online at http://packages.ubuntu.com - Ubuntu has about 20000 packages available, so please *search* for an official package before installing things in awkward ways!21:02
Jordan_Utheoctagon: Gute nacht :)21:02
BUGabundoor apt-cache search21:02
theoctagonJordan_U: naja - noch nicht - aber zu spät für ne neuinstallation in ner vbox :P21:02
charlie-tca__patdk-wk: try editing the menu entry at boot, remove quiet and splash.21:03
patdk-wkthey shouldn't have been in there21:03
patdk-wkya, there is no quiet or splash21:03
charlie-tca__Then remove the "space /" that is21:03
patdk-wkheh?21:04
Jordan_Utheoctagon: Wen man etwas experimentell versucht ist es immer besser als man auch schläfrig ist :)21:04
charlie-tca__It only shows up for me in the actual grub menu. /etc/default/grub shows the quiet splash removed, but when I boot, I have to edit every time and remove /21:04
vish!info libcamel1.2-14-dbgsym21:04
ubottuPackage libcamel1.2-14-dbgsym does not exist in maverick21:05
Jordan_Ucharlie-tca__: Did you re-run update-grub?21:05
patdk-wkcharlie-tca__, must be your issue, cause my /boot/grub/grub.cfg doesn't contain quiet or splash :)21:05
theoctagonJordan_U: woher kommste?21:05
charlie-tca__yup, reran update-grub21:05
charlie-tca__comes back every boot21:05
Jordan_Utheoctagon: United States, to be fair we should really stop speaking in german (or else go to #ubuntu-de) though.21:06
charlie-tca__patdk-wk: I only see it when I hit the menu. I can't find it in any files21:06
MatBoywas someone able to run Adobe Fireworks on Ubuntu ? Seems to be a big pain with wine21:06
theoctagonJordan_U: no problem :)21:06
patdk-wkcharlie-tca__, well that is not my issue :)21:06
Jordan_Ucharlie-tca__: Can you run boot info script as explained here: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1291280 and pastebin the RESULTS.txt?21:07
Jordan_Upatdk-wk: Can you try adding "set gfxpayload=text" to the menu entry (by pressing 'e' at boot)?21:08
charlie-tca__Jordan_U: Not right now, but later, before I quit for the day.21:09
patdk-wkhmm, boots fine now :)21:10
patdk-wkso gfxpayload was killing it21:10
patdk-wkI booted the old kernel, let me try the new one just to make sure, but it was affecting them all21:10
patdk-wknew kernel works too21:14
patdk-wkadded that into defaults/grub21:14
patdk-wknow I wonder why firefox opens on login now21:14
patdk-wkmore ubuntu one sillyness21:15
Jordan_Upatdk-wk: Could you file a bug report about linux not booting (or at least not being able to write to the screen) without gfxpayload=text ?21:19
patdk-wkwouldn't it be more than that?21:19
patdk-wkcause even X wasn't loading21:19
patdk-wkit failed somewhere21:19
Jordan_Upatdk-wk: With Kernel Mode Setting (which you're using unless you're using proprietary drivers) problems with X loading are often kernel problems.21:20
patdk-wkhmm21:20
patdk-wkthis is vmware, so no proprietary display drivers21:20
patdk-wkwhat should it be filed against?21:21
Jordan_Upatdk-wk: VMware may be an exception also, as I don't think the open source VMware drivers use KMS.21:21
Jordan_Upatdk-wk: I'm not really sure to be honest :)21:21
Jordan_Upatdk-wk: If you file it against the grub-pc package then you're likely to get someone looking at it that understands the handover from grub to linux WRT video, and then they can report it against another package as needed.21:23
patdk-wkbug report is filed21:30
Jordan_Upatdk-wk: Thanks.21:36
vishBUGabundo: it just turned out to be synaptic was acting silly!  it becomes blind when trying to search for the libcamel -dbgsym!21:50
