DarxusWhat does it take to get this into the main lucid archives, not just lucid updates?  Bug 429841.  Until then it's causing major breakage for anyone who tries to upgrade between the two latest LTS releases.01:49
ubot2Launchpad bug 429841 in flashplugin-nonfree (Ubuntu Karmic) (and 2 other projects) "broken packaging: package flashplugin-nonfree failed to install/upgrade: (breaks upgrade) (affects: 310) (dups: 142) (heat: 1648)" [High,Triaged] https://launchpad.net/bugs/42984101:49
DarxusIt absolutely blows my mind that *nobody* who had flash installed tested upgrading from hardy to lucid before lucid was released.01:51
yofelDarxus: impossible afaik, and -updates should be always enabled unless you turn it off yourself01:51
yofelbut I won't bet my life on that statement01:51
hggdhif you did bet, you would win ;-)01:58
hggdhDarxus: it *is* in the main Ubuntu archiveS01:59
hggdhlucid-updates is one of them01:59
DarxusThere are people who don't use -updates.  If there is no reason for that, then it wouldn't exist.  Those people are getting horribly broken upgrades.02:15
DarxusThat should be fixed.02:15
hggdhDarxus: it *is* fixed, in lucid-updates. If someone disabled lucid-updates, this someone is explicitly stating is does *NOT* want fixes02:16
Darxushggdh: No.  This completely cripples all functionality of the package management system.02:17
hggdhand, anyway, 10.04.1 will have it. But there is no sane reason to disable -updates in the first place02:17
Darxushggdh: As I said, if there were no sane reason to disable -updates, -updates wouldn't exist.  It makes plenty of sense for someone whose priority is stability.02:18
hggdhDarxus: if you value stability over functional packages, I am unsure what we could do02:18
DarxusBeing in the non-updates lucid archives in a 10.04.1 release sounds like the right solution, thanks.02:18
Darxushggdh: Nobody values stability over complete brokenness, that's what I'm saying.02:19
hggdhhow does flash completely break a system?02:19
Darxushggdh: Read the fucking bug.02:20
hggdhDarxus: please keep this discussion clean. Please also read the CoC02:21
DarxusIt is, perhaps, a weakness of the package management system that it's possible.  The post install script fails.  The new version has no post-install script to run instead, so it gives up, and won't let you do anything else.02:21
trinikronohey has anyone heard from ddecator?02:50
trinikronohe seems to be missing a few days now lol02:50

blindeinsteinI believe bug #608005 should be set to wishlist05:55
ubot2Launchpad bug 608005 in firefox (Ubuntu) "Right-clicking items in History menu brings up the toolbar context menu (affects: 1) (heat: 6)" [Undecided,In progress] https://launchpad.net/bugs/60800505:55
micahgblindeinstein: why?05:56
blindeinsteinRight-clicking in any menu brings up the toolbar context menu, save the bookmarks menu. It's not a bug, but a feature request.06:04
micahgblindeinstein: I'd say that's a bug06:12
micahgblindeinstein: why did you change the status/assignee?06:15
blindeinsteinmicahg: because it's my first attempt at helping with bugs, and I am apparently doing it wrong06:16
micahgblindeinstein: did you read the how to triage guide06:17
blindeinsteinmicahg: a couple of times, i just misunderstood small bit so i'm gonna hit it up again06:19
micahgblindeinstein: ok, feel free to ask any questions you might have here06:19
blindeinsteinmicahg: thanks06:20
micahgblindeinstein: np, I'm looking upstream at the moment for that bug06:20

drew212i keep getting a timeout error when i search for firefox in ubuntu, but when i change it to Firefox, everything works fine...08:52
micahgdrew212: nah, I'd say it's cached after the first time :)08:53
drew212micahg: no, even if i try it a second time with firefox, it gives me a timeout error...08:55
drew212only with Firefox...08:55
micahgdrew212: so, there might be less records w/Firefox vs firefox08:55
micahgdrew212: file a bug against malone with the oops ID and the use case08:56
drew212O_o, i'll get to participate in this hugday! i'm off all day =), well, unless i go hunting08:59

drew212micahg: i may go hunting, and that would consume my day =X09:01
drew212i would hate to ask for one, and then not participate09:01
drew212micahg: bug 566229 looks good, but the stacktrace and threadedstacktrace says that there are no symbols, even though Apport retraced successfully09:04
ubot2Launchpad bug 566229 in pidgin (Ubuntu) "pidgin crashed with SIGFPE in g_cclosure_marshal_VOID__VOID() (affects: 2) (heat: 41)" [Medium,New] https://launchpad.net/bugs/56622909:04
micahgdrew212: k, might be enough for upstream09:07
micahgdrew212: I'd suggest asking in the #pidgin channel if they'd take this tyep of report09:08
drew212he was using it in beta09:08
drew212does that matter?09:08
micahgwell, it was close to release, but the pidgin version was the release version09:08
micahgdrew212: the devs might not care unless it can be reproduced w/2.7.1 though09:09
drew212micahg: pidgin doesn't use LP for its bug reports?09:11
micahgdrew212: it has a track instance09:12
micahg*trac09:12
drew212micahg: no hits in #pidgin =X09:16
micahgdrew212: it's probably off hours, try during the day US time09:16
