rippsOkay, can someone help me here. I have program that uses automake-1.11 and vala-0.9.3. I want to backport the package to earlier versions of ubuntu, but vala-0.9.3 isn't supported in older ubuntu's due to glib incompatibility. Is there some way I can get the vala files pregenerated to c before uploading it, without having automake run vala again during building?00:55
MuscovyWhen I run debuild -S on a package I made, if it finds the .orig.tar.gz, it produces (package).debian.tar.gz instead of (package).tar.gz. This causes uploads to REVU to fail. What is wrong?01:07
rippsMuscovy: that's because your package is using dpkg source format 3.0, and REVU is out of date and doesn't support it yet. REVU shouldn't reject it though, it just can't upack the source.01:10
rippsgeez... nobody knows?03:00

micahgto sponsor an upload, I just sign the source_changes with my key?06:19
wgrantmicahg: Yes. Just 'debsign -kblahblah whatever_source.changes'06:22
micahgwgrant: ok, I usually sign with debuild -S -sa -kXXXXX06:23
micahgwgrant: do you know how I can test locally on amd64 for armel?>06:24
wgrantmicahg: You might be able to do some qemu trickery, but I don't really know.06:25

vorianwgrant: a simple change to devscripts will rid the need to -k your packages06:36
vorianby hand at least06:36
micahgvorian: for sponsoring?06:37

vorianmicahg: yeah06:37

fabrice_spthe bot is tired :-)08:32
fabrice_spI'm building a media server, and this is affecting me. Can I do something to help you?08:32
micahgfabrice_sp: why is it wrong?08:33
micahgfabrice_sp: oh08:33
micahgfabrice_sp: basically, we need a wrapper for mediatomb so that it can find mozjs which changes path every xul update08:33
fabrice_spmicahg, hmm, do you have an example of how to write that? In another package, for example..08:36
micahgfabrice_sp: edbrowse or gxine08:36
fabrice_spmicahg, ok. I'll check them, then. If I'm able to write that, would you mind reviewing it?08:37
micahgfabrice_sp: I'd be honored :)08:37
micahgI sponsored my first package tonight08:37
fabrice_spyou only have to become a MOTU now , then :-)08:38
micahgheh :), I'm waiting until I have a little more time, I'd end up spending all night sponsoring and never sleep :)08:38
fabrice_spThis is what happened to Stefano (http://hall-of-fame.ubuntu.com/)08:39
fabrice_sp(in the busiest Sponsors part)08:39
micahgfabrice_sp: yeah, he's been doing great08:39
fabrice_spand I don't know if he is sleeping a lot :-)08:41
fabrice_sp(like bdrung by the way :-) )08:41
micahgfabrice_sp: my miro upload failed on sparc and it looks like it's dependency hades08:50
fabrice_spmicahg, yeah:sparc seems to be in a bad shape08:50
micahgfabrice_sp: well, glib2.0 doesn't even seem to try to build on it anymotr08:51
fabrice_splooking at the last uploads I did, none build on sparc...08:52
micahgfabrice_sp: then I had xulrunner fail on armel due to the gcc changes (my theory)08:52
fabrice_spthat's more strange08:53
micahgfabrice_sp: yeah, I need to talk to doko08:53
fabrice_spyou can try building it with qemu08:53
fabrice_spin armel, I mean08:54
micahgfabrice_sp: do you know how?08:54
fabrice_splet me check: Stefano gave me some pointers of that08:55

micahgfabrice_sp: on examining the diff between the current Ubuntu version and the new Ubuntu version for the package I just uploaded, I noticed an instruction in README.Debian which I guess should've been changed in the merge. I missed it when I initially reviewed the patch, should I reupload with the fix?09:24
fabrice_spstill there?! :-)09:25
micahgfabrice_sp: unfortunately :(09:25
fabrice_spwhat is this instruction?09:25
micahgfabrice_sp: just to install xulrunner-1.9.1-dbg which should be xulrunner-1.9.2-dbg for us09:25
fabrice_spyou can upload an ubuntu2 package, but I'm not sure it's worth an upload09:27
micahgfabrice_sp: well, that's what I'm wondering :0909:27
fabrice_spI think that somebody that knows README.debian would made the change by himself09:28
micahgfabrice_sp: there will be another upload, hopefully before beta w/the webkit version of miro09:28
micahgfabrice_sp: makes sense09:28
fabrice_spand it's in an eg. sentence, so really not worth an upload09:29
micahgfabrice_sp: ok, thansk'09:35

gesershadeslayer: are you planing to merge twisted? some twisted-* packages are in depwait on >= 10.112:55
shadeslayergeser: uh im quite busy with secret KDE releases right now :P12:56
shadeslayerso feel free to take12:56
tumbleweedgeser: I suspect twisted is syncable (but testing it now)13:07
gesertumbleweed: still a merge (changes to postinst)13:08
tumbleweedgeser: those changes are probably no longer relevant13:08
tumbleweedit changed python-helper13:08
geserbut would that influence the cache files?13:09
tumbleweeddh_python2 includes the symlink farm in the deb13:10
gesertumbleweed: the change we still have is "rm -f /usr/lib/python[23].?/*-packages/twisted/plugins/dropin.cache" in rebuild_cache() in the postinst13:11
tumbleweedgeser: I know, I filed the related bug in debian13:12
geserok, then I let you do the checking13:12
tumbleweedgeser: well, I guess the simple answer is that people upgrading to lucid don't have python2.5, so we don't need to delete any left over dropin.cache files13:14
tumbleweedbut the deb doesn't contain the dropin.cache files, so these are still going to be an issue in the future13:14
geseryes, looking at the original bug13:14
geserwould that issue re-appear when we update to python2.7?13:15
tumbleweedyes, so let's keep it13:15
tumbleweed(although with any luck doko will sort out this issue in debian before then)13:16
gastlyhi, I've uploaded a package to revu, it uploaded fine but revu gives a warning about "no browsable directory". How can I fix that? :)13:31
tumbleweedgeser: source format 3.0 packages aren't browsable on REVU13:31
tumbleweedgastly, I mean13:32
gastlyoh, so should I change the source format?13:32
tumbleweedgastly: you can, but most revu reviewers should know about this, and don't mind13:33
gastlytumbleweed, ahh ok thanks :)13:34
