Daekdroom[    40.415] (EE) Screen(s) found, but none have a usable configuration. keeps happening over and over when I try to start X.org, a few times. Causes a full lock up :|00:35
gnomefreakmy 2.5 cents00:35
DaekdroomI think I should try a full reinstall first, because this current install is a mess of old packages and conf files..00:35
gnomefreakit doesnt get much better, take my word for it00:35
gnomefreaki did a full reinstall witha  daily iso than did an upgrade from 10.04 -> 10.10 only installing irssi before upgrade00:36
gnomefreaksame issues are still here00:36
penguin42Daekdroom: What hardware?00:38
Daekdroompenguin42, ATI X1100 running over a monitor that apparently keeps spamming X.org with an invalid EDID.00:38
penguin42I think you can turn edid off in the config00:39
DaekdroomEvery 10 seconds drm complains about invalid EDID from the monitor. I can't use tty because of that >.<00:39
DaekdroomReally?00:39

gnomefreakholy fun new fact00:39
penguin42Daekdroom: ah in X you can, not sure about the kernels edid for kms - try running with nomodeset ?00:39
Daekdroompenguin42, well, it didn't use to happen when there was no KMS..00:40
penguin42Daekdroom: I'm thinking it may be the kms code; so try turning kms off00:40

ubottuIf you installed a Alpha/Beta/RC version of Ubuntu 10.04 (Lucid Lynx) and have been keeping it up to date, then you are already running the latest version of Lucid Lynx. To make sure, type « sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get dist-upgrade » in a console.06:35

sghHi everybody. I hvae some issue regarding startup of Xorg. Is seems that in the last 3 week there have been  some race that makes Xorg start in low graphics mode. Using the proprietary nvidia driver X completely refuses to load the driver. I have reporteddd a bug but nobody have replied. https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/nvidia-graphics-drivers/+bug/60749011:43

penguin42I've just booted a 2.6.35-13 that I built (witha  few printk's in the radeon code) - first time I'd booted a -13 and I'm getting a load of apparmor panics and it's died13:50
penguin42oh interesting; it's just booted for me on a 2nd go if I remove the gfxmode stuff13:52
penguin42I wouldn't have predicted that given they were all apparmor errors13:53

penguin42sinurge: To run 32bit apps17:44
penguin42or plugins17:44
penguin42sinurge: e.g. you can run the 32 bit flash plugin on 64bit17:44
sinurgeright now i have a 32 bit binary but it does not allow me to run the same17:44
penguin42what happens?17:44
sinurgeit tells me > bash: ./crclient: No such file or directory17:45
sinurgebut i can see the file17:45
sinurgeits my internet connection binary so there is no way to get the same17:46
penguin42sinurge: Try installing libc6-i38617:46
sinurgeif i see thru nautilus i see a x mark on the folder lib32 wonder why17:46
penguin42sinurge: It's probably missing the ld-linux.so.2 for 32bit17:46
sinurgecould but both in lucid and maverick17:47
sinurgeseems very very odd17:47
sinurgecan i just copy the ld-linux.so.2 directly to lib3217:48
penguin42sinurge: It might need to go in both /lib and /lib3217:49
penguin42sinurge: But the libc6-i386 package provides a load of other libraries that you will probably need as well17:49
sinurgeso why is it not bundled by default17:52
sinurgejust checked the file is present in both 32 and 64bit17:53
Daekdroomsinurge, because Ubuntu has a 700MB limit as it ships on CDs.17:53
DaekdroomAnd not anyone will need 32bit libs.17:53
sinurgeoh ok17:53
penguin42sinurge: Not everyone runs 32bit stuff17:53
sinurgeyup i know i just cant get the provider to give me the source so i can compile and nor is he willing to give 64 bit17:53
sinurgealso another question what is the diff between ia32 libs and just lib32?17:54
